oh yeah 100% agree that most people died within the first few months, I realize i worded it a little odd at the end there. I ment more "it's been so long since we've seen any living person but eachother, how the hell did this kid survive" on how long its been since 2020

On my first watch of the movie, I initially thought it was implied that Seob is like Noona's brother but not actually her brother. I took her flashback in the convince store as her thinking about her biological brother and comparing how close she was with him with how close she is with Jongseob. I also can imagine, with the chaos in the city when the drones were released, it would be quite hard to find such a young boy safely, assuming her brother and Jongseob would be about the same age.

So, I tend to lean towards seeing Noona Jongseob and Theo as a found family siblings trio, but in the context of expanding on the movie and piwon's lore, I enjoy when Noona and Jongseob are portrayed in both a bio or found siblings dynamic. Both really tug at my heartstrings 💔

or one that probably makes the most sense. i wanted to make a timeline so i could make sense of it when it came to making my au.

some things i wanted to expand on ->

*keeho teleporting him and jiung to December.

since it was keehos "first time" using his powers (since the memory loss) he takes them to Dec. of 2012 which i feel like wasn't a coincidence. helping with what year the past takes place in i feel like they are connected in some way also with the present taking place in Nov-Dec.

*when the past takes place.

i mention in the timeline that keehos passport expires in 2011 now it's a big guess as to when the past takes place but i think it takes place around 2009 to 2015 with the cars license plate being around from 2006 - 2019. now 2019 doesn't work b/c then how would someone make maybe thousands of drones and create a virus that changes how people act in only one year?? it would also be weird b/c when keeho and jiung teleport why would they go back in time if 2020 was the year right after 2019? And 2006 doesn't make sense b/c then it would have taken whoever was creating the virus almost 15 years for them to actually release the drone into the world. so what I estimate for when the past takes place is around 2013 - 2015 giving the virus to be created between 5 to 7 years. now going back to them teleporting to 2012, if the past took place around 2013 them going back one year maybe makes sense b/c its keehos "first" time really using his power to time travel so mistakes are bound to happen. (if any of this even makes sense 💀)

*fnc dance contest.

it almost gives away when the virus specifically starts. being (most likely) the end of November and the start of December. the contest being on Dec. 23 and intak having an FNC entry paper(?) when the drones start attacking gives a pretty solid date as to when the virus started. along with it probably being around 9 to 10 am (as writing on the poster)

*the dust storm.

in the future a dust storm occurs. dust storms happen in the spring between March and April. with spring starting on March 20th giving us a rough timestamp of when the future is. As for a year idk ? considering in 2020 when the virus breaks out (of course) the world hasn't been completely destroyed then in the future everythings dystopian and soul, seob, and theo seem to be the only humans alive so maybe BIG maybe the future takes place in 2023 - 2024. a lot can happen in 3 years especially with how fast the virus could spread and how fast it did when it started.

BTW i see these posts all the time like "ohhh i dont know what to comment on fics.." and every response is "keysmashes! or hearts!! anything works :3" and thats GREAT!! thats helpful!!

but: consider. if u genuinely like analyzing writing.. do u know ur just allowed to go through and quote your favorite parts and ramble abt what they mean to u and the author will LOSE IT WITH HYPE?

genuinely. i felt SO WEIRD the first time i did it.. but like. holy shit authors love it. its crack for authors. the first time i did it, it was on a fic that hadnt updated in half a year, give or take, and the author made 3 updates that month BECAUSE OF MY COMMENT.

LIKE. as an author every comment is INCREDIBLE!!! but also, dont feel like your comment has to be short or otherwise ur invasive or smth!! authors ADORE long comments more than ANYTHING.

to add onto the future part:

in 2020, intak meets a young girl, named Noona, at the beginning of the outbreak, calling out for her mom

I'm of the belief that this is the same girl as the girl in the future with Soul, Seob, and Theo. Same name, but also, Noona in the future has a little flashback that's pretty much the exact as when Intak found her in 2020

In the future, Noona looks to be about the same age as Theo, I'd say shes 19-21 ish. While in 2020, the young girl looks to be about the same age as the other little girl, maybe younger, so I'd say she's 10-12 in 2020.

So personally, I'd put the dust storm about 10 years in the future. This gives enough time for 99% of the population to be wiped out where its weird for them to find Soul surviving, and for most of humanity's infrastructure to be as deteriorated as it is.

So I'd say: The future takes place in Spring of 2031 ISH

Fun Story to Share.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.
