A word from this week’s guest: Daniel

As a person who has interest and loves art, I had a dream of beautifully decorating my house with my own arts. Also, I had huge interest in designing my own house and structure from an above view and behind view.

My dream and desire for art and decoration of house structure and interior goes back to a time when I was 5 or 6 years old when I was still living in korea. My mom was learning to get a license/certificate for teaching art for young children. One day, my mom had a lesson of making a house out of rolled newspaper and magazine. She brought it home, and also taught me and my brother to make house out of those newspapers and magazines. I enjoyed making the house and also enjoyed playing with the house.

when I got a bit older, it was my age when I began to play with legos. However, my desire for a beautiful house did not vanish. when my other friends made weapons, cars, planes, and spaceships for the lego character, I spent all my time making a base, or a house for the character and tried my best to decorate it so that it would look as similar to a real house. I made divided rooms for characters, kitchen, meeting room, garage and even a restroom. I used pieces that had interior looking and did not forget to make a window.

When I was at middle school, my math teacher who was also a principal of the school enjoyed giving us a project that had to do with making our own village, houses, and certain landmarks with cardboards, clay, blocks, and even with toothpicks. All my other friends hated that project and did not participate very much. However, I enjoyed the projects that my teacher/principal gave me. I did my best to make it look good as possible.

With all these experiences, I later used them to help me make miniatures and dioramas. I made a blueprint of the building that I want to make on a sketchbook, precisely measured the height and width of the building, cut them and put them together to make it nice. I never for got to paint both the inside and outside. I made interiors such as tables, televisions, couches and drawers as I drew them in my blueprint. Also, whenever I had project that required me to draw or make a blueprint of a house, the experiences helped me on it.

How people can take a real rest?

We live in the overflowing information and content of the media. Even small breaks are always exposed to media such as cell phones and televisions. But a real rest also refers to freedom from such things. It's about focusing more on me, trying to voluntarily isolate myself from many things for a while. It doesn't have to be a special space but, quite a bit quiet and comfortable space.

If you get tired of the work treadmill, you dream of a new life and a relaxed life. You also look for things to restore your tired bodies and minds. If you can have a short break in your busy daily life, and if you can do your hobby, you can't feel bored and the same daily life a little more special. So, I want to post a blog focusing on a small space for my own relaxation in the house where I can take a rest. Nothing is better than having a leisurely hobby or doing small activities in a home where you can rest. So it is also good to create a special space inside the house just for myself, only for rest, and to make a house where you want to stay more. Let's find out more about the special space inside the special house.

Home is the space to start and end a new day. And it is also a space where you can spend your time leisurely when you need a break. And you can freely start your desired hobby. But it's actually not easy to create a space where all that is possible. Because in the house, only the most basic things are solved. Most of them are bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms for sleeping. But creating a special space for time to focus only on myself, such as reading books, makes my home more special, and makes my life more tireless. Not many things are needed to do that. With comfortable chairs, good lighting, and books, you can easily create a separate space. It is to make a special little space new.
