My review of the book Empty Net by Avon Gale. The fourth book in her series Scoring Chances.
Tumblr media
Empty Net is my favourite book in the Scoring Chances series. We already met Laurent in the previous book, and I have to say, I did not like him. I was a bit struggling at the beginning of the book, how they could get over what happened. Laurent and Isaac pulled through and their character development was amazing. It was so lovely to learn why Laurent was the way he was. How much deeper we got to know Isaac. Also, the Enemies-to-Lovers? I love it soooo much. Honestly, who doesn't? It probably made me love this book even more. I'd really love to read more about the two of them and learn how their story continues.

My review of the book Power Play by Avon Gale. The third book in her series Scoring Chances.
Tumblr media
Where do I even start? I loved this book so much, I don't know if I can put it into words. I will certainly try. Misha Samarin, he's such a lovely written character. He's brooding and self-sacrificing. I totally understand him when he gets migraines, and I felt so bad for him whenever he would get them. His character is well thought out, with his back story and character development. Max Ashford, I don't know why, but I imagine him kinda like a puppy you just want to cuddle. He forgave Misha long before Misha could forgive himself. Max has amazing chemistry with Misha and their team. Isaac Drake, he's actually just a side character in this book (thankfully there is on with Isaac as the MC) but he's so lovely. He's my absolut favourite player on the team. The connection and the friendship between Isaac and Misha is amazing. What I liked, was how fast it progressed, it was not a slow burn, sometimes I like slow burn, but I mostly don't, so I liked that Misha and Max had instant connection and attraction. The relationship progressed slowly but steady. The sparks between them, so hot. The book was easy to read, there were not too many "big words". English is not my first language, so I do appreciate this. The plot was easy to follow and it was logical. This book is exactly what I love; the hockey, the hot guys, the angst, the love and the smut.

My review of the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The first book in her series The Hunger Games.
Tumblr media
I love Katniss, and her iconic (in my opinion) wrapped around her head braid is my go-to hairstyle for work. I first saw the movie and then read the books. What I missed a little in the book, the first time I read it, was the romance, how Katniss can't decide between Peeta and Gale. I'm not a big fan of love triangles, even though it's a very common theme in Y/A novels and I absolutely love those books. After re-reading and growing up (a bit (; ) I came to the conclusion, that it doesn't matter who Katniss is with or who she will choose at the end (which I don't know because I haven't finished reading the 2nd book and I haven't read the 3rd book yet). The book is really all about how Katniss and her family, everything she does is to stay alive to take care of her family. Of course, she's looking for love and comfort (who doesn't want that at 16?) but this is absolutely not the focus of this book in my opinion. It's exactly what I love so much about this book, how romance is not the ultimate goal for Katniss. Love is not her main focus.

My review of the book Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The first book in her series Outlander.
Tumblr media
I have read this book quite a few times, and I loved it every time. What I did not like is that there are too many descriptions of things that don't matter. It's the only bad thing I can say about this book. There were times where I didn't want to continue the book, because of lengthy descriptions about the scenery for example. Of course, I want to feel like I'm in the middle of the woods in the 1740s in the Scottish high lands, but it was overdone in my opinion. I loved everything else in the books. The plot, the relationship of Jamie and Claire. I enjoyed it all a lot. While Claire slowly fell in love with Jamie, I was right by her side and fell in love alongside her. I enjoyed the two of them in France and the reunion was amazing. However, out of all the Outlander books that I have read so far, this one is my absolute favourite. I'm excited to read the newest book of the series as soon as my aunt and my mom finished it ;) It's funny, I think, that when I first read this book, I was 13 years old (I have honestly no idea how my mom allowed me to read this at 13) and Jamie (in this book) was 10 years older than me. Now I'm 21 years old, and I dread the day where I will read this book (again), and I will be the one who's 10 years older... If you haven't read Outlander yet, I can strongly recommend it to you. Who doesn't love a tall, ripped highlander, who would do anything for the woman he loves? And who's also a bad boy and a total softy on the inside?

Do You Ever Think About Me?
Do you ever think about me?
I lie in my bed alone, and I wonder what it would feel like if you were by my side. I wonder what it would feel like if I could put my head on your chest and listen to your heartbeat.
Do you ever think about me?
I walk through the streets of a rainy city alone, and I wonder what it would feel like if you were by my side. I wonder what it would feel like if I could touch your rain-wet hair.
Do you ever think about me?
I eat my dinner alone, and I wonder what it would feel like if you were by my side. I wonder what it would feel like if I could reach across the table and touch your hand.
Do you ever think about me?

Good Night - Elias Pettersson
Tumblr media
Word count: 597
Warnings: none, just my crappy writing. Didn’t put much effort into this one, sorry in advance.
The clock had begun to count down the final minute of game four. The Canucks lead the series 3-0 in the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The score was tied at 2, and the excitement within Rogers Arena was electric.
Your right hand was clasped within Emily’s, Brock’s girlfriend. Your left thumb was rubbing the inside of your palm, mainly fumbling with the silver band on your ring finger. You watch as Brock passes the puck to your husband at centre ice. He out maneuvers the defence and suddenly it’s just him and the goalie. You can feel the smirk on Elias’s face as he bring the goalie to the right side only to deek and shot a perfect wrist shot into the top left corner.
The WAG and family suite of Rogers Arena explodes as the goal horn goes off. The pride within you ignites as tears fall down your face.
“Holy shit, Em!” You’re on your feet, Emily rubbing your back as tears fall down your face.
“You’re going to tell him tonight, right?” She asks as the other WAGs pat your back and whisper their congratulations.
You can only nod into Emily’s shoulder.
“He’s going to be stoked,” Emily smiles as she pulls away from you. “Let’s go down and meet them.”
You intertwine your arm in hers as you make your way down to the ice. Your husband is in the middle of the ice, surrounded by his team and the media. A smile breaks its way onto your face as his eyes meet yours.
The joy is evident on his face as he excuses himself from the interview he was engaged in and skated over to you on the bench.
“I’m so freaking proud of you, baby” You reach out and cup his cheeks. “That was the most amazing goal of your career.”
Elias chuckles. “Any goal I score when you’re watching is the most amazing goal of my career.”
“That was super cheesy.” You giggle, pulling his face to yours.
“Only for you, my love.” Elias’s hands wrap around your waist, pulling you even closer into him.
“Hey lovebirds! Over here.” Quinn Hughes yells from the middle of the ice, where he and Troy Stetcher are holding the Cup over their heads.
With a slight groan, Elias pulls away. Keeping his hand in yours, he aids you into the ice. You make your way slowly back in the chaos of celebration. Troy smiles excitedly as he sees you both, he knows your secret. He hands Elias the cup.
Your phone comes out of your pocket at the sight of your husband holding the cup. Elias smiles immediately, posing and celebrating.
“Get in there with him.” Troy says as he snatches your phone from your hands.
You giggle and waddle carefully over to Elias. His free hand cups you waist as you pose with the cup. You tug on his jersey, wanting his attention. He turns to you, smile huge, hair pushed back behind his champion baseball cap they’d been given after the game was won.
“Elias.” You smile. “I’m pregnant.”
There’s a slight pause and the click of a camera as Elias’s smile grows even more than you thought possible.
“Shit, Bo!” He turns to his teammate. “Grab the cup, man.”
You pause for second, confused.
As Bo grabs the cup, Elias picks you up. Spinning on the ice, he presses kisses all over your face.
“The Cup and a baby. I don’t think tonight could be more perfect.” There are tears in his eyes. “Thank you, my love.”

If you write a strong character, let them fail.
If you write a selfless hero, let them get mad at people.
If you write a cold-heated villain, let them cry.
If you write a brokenhearted victim, let them smile again.
If you write a bold leader, let them seek guidance.
If you write a confident genius, let them be wrong, or get stumped once in a while.
If you write a fighter or a warrior, let them lose a battle, but let them win the war.
If you write a character who loses everything, let them find something.
If you write a reluctant hero, give them a reason to join the fight.
If you write a gentle-hearted character who never stops smiling, let that smile fade and tears fall in shadows.
If you write a no one, make them a someone.
If you write a sibling, let them fight and bicker, but know that at the end of the day they’ll always have each other’s back.
If you write a character, make them more than just a character; give them depth, give them flaws and secrets, and give them life.
