I am going to imagine a scene between two deeply fucked-up characters that is so improbably tender

I love a character raised to be a weapon as much as the next guy. But what really gets me is a character raised to be a shield. Who can’t fathom being needed—or even being wanted— beyond keeping others safe. Who believe they are alive only to insure someone doesn’t die. no matter the cost. Characters who self-sacrifice not because they think they deserve it, but because no one else does deserve it, and it’s their job to protect.

Characters who’ve been told that’s why your important. Your worth something because this other person/ thing is important, and you are here solely to keep them safe.

Bonus points if it’s not a legitimate job they’ve been given. Maybe at one point it was, but now that they are free from it, they haven’t given up that mentality. No one is forcing or asking them to do this, but they need to. They need to in order to be deserving.

I think about these guides on how to draw Brock from the character supervisor on vbros all the time. The way the human body is drawn is one of my favourite things about vbros - even a near superhuman, action hero character like Brock Samson is drawn like a real person!!! Of course it's simplified and cartoonish but there's real care in the thinking of; how he physically moves and how his age and lifestyle affects his appearance. It's so different to how alot animated shows and comics draw their characters - often giving characters unrealistic or idealized proportions to create appeal, but in vbros the appeal IS the realism. I think this whole design ethos reflects the show as a whole in that; yes, Brock is an action hero, but he's also a PERSON, he doesnt look like an action figure, he appears to be this epitome of tough guy masculinity but he has a soft side !! he cares about the boys, he's sensitive and he makes mistakes !! he's flawed !!! and i think that's true on some level for every character in vbros

Good fukken luck lmao” *distant screams of kidnappers as loved one escapes* or the flipside: “We’ve kidnapped you!” “You are in so much trouble. You are in so much fucking trouble. You are in the most trouble ever, oh my god.” *DOOR EXPLODES INWARDS AS LOVED ONE ARRIVES* and the alternate: *vehicle pulls up, door opens, person is shoved out, door slams, vehicle screeches away* “Did you get kidnapped??” “For a minute yeah”
