"I do not see how this is even remotely your business.”
Dragon Age: Inquisition starter sentences | ACCEPTING
Falon’Din tilted his head to the side slightly, cool gaze examining her with clear precesion. Most would have faltered under the uncomfortable gaze yet Falon’Din noted she did not. A slow, easy grin slithered onto his face as he leaned against his staff, watching and waiting for her reaction.
“That is because you like to be blind to everything but yourself,” he stated plainly. “You do not wish to see the affect of matters on anyone, truly, other than yourself.” His eyes narrowed as he examined her more.
“They say you’re ruthless, don’t they? That’s what they said about me as well. Perhaps you and I are not as different as you hope.”

“Just shut up and do it!”
Dragon Age: Inquisition starter sentences | ACCEPTING
“You think to order a god?”
It was a low tremor, echoing in the darkness, bouncing off the walls. It was soon followed by a dark and slightly amused chuckle. The shadows writhed with a life of their own, seeming to be as panthers in the darkness surrounding their prey.
“No. This is far too much fun to watch you squirm and think you can fight.”
He suddenly appeared, as if stepping out from the very darkness of the cavern. His hand rested against the wall, chilling ice blue eyes seeming to glow even unnaturally for an elf in the darkness.
“My powers are growing as my binds slowly ebb away...But even in my weakened state, I can tear you piece by piece if I so desire it.”

Enslaved vs Lower Class
The difference between enslaved elves and lower class elves under Falon’din’s domain was only slight but there were some.
Enslaved elves had to obey any order by the elite. The only time they could deny an order is if it were from a master who was not their own and went against what their master had ordered. Meanwhile, lower class elves were expected to obey and revere the elite, but they could deny orders along the sexual line or physical harming ones.
Enslaved elves owned nothing. Not their clothes, jewelry, anything. Lower class elves could own things, perhaps even a small bit of property.
Enslaved elves had no freedom in the type of jobs they performed. They were to do what they were told when they were told. Lower class elves were able to take apprenticeships and take employment in lower class employment.
Enslaved elves could never become a priest. Lower class elves could become minor table servant and if ambitious enough, be able to climb up the social ladder to a minor priest. But this was a difficult path marred with obstacles which rarely allowed this to happen.
Lower class elves could work as prostitutes and be able to charge a good price for their services. Working as prostitutes, lower class elves could set limitations which were to be respected by law by any patron, elite or lower class.

Headcanon: Falon’din’s rule
WARNING: This post contains discussion of slavery, abuse, suggested sexual abuse, torture, religious sacrifice, and a wide variety of other topics.
To think Falon’din’s followers were loyal out of love for him would be a fool’s thought. Falon’din was harsh to his subjects and slaves, viewing them more as possessions than people. He reveled in the worship and would have an annual month long celebration which ended with the mass sacrifice of 40 hand picked elves (10 from each high priest), which was used to add to Falon’din’s power. This was viewed to be an honor with empty promises of paradise.
There may have been love, reverence, and respect when he first ascended to being an Evanuris. He had been a celebrated general in the war against the Titans, yet he had been twisted over time. He reveled in power, in the ownership of his lands, his subject, and especially his slaves. Only those closest to him, his priests and nobles, had an elevated life. But everyone else was subjected to harsh treatment and expectations of them. They were expected to serve the elite in whatever way the elite desired. It was not questioned; it was expected for them to obey any order. (A non slave elf, though, was not expected to fulfill sexual orders, but a slave was.)
Any quarrel one would make against these elites would be viewed as a slight against Falon’din himself. This perceived traitor would then be taken away to be tortured by one of Falon’din’s high priests or Falon’din himself. If a lower class but non slave elf would relent in the torture, they would become enslaved as well as their family. If they were a slave, they would be tortured until their will broken or they were killed, whichever occurred first. Often times, if Falon’din were the torturer, if they did die, he would use his powers to return them to life to continue the torture.
This does not go to say the elites could do as they wish. If they were, to say, abuse a slave who belonged to Falon’din, it would a slight against him and he would be judge, jury, and punisher. Depending on the offense, the elite could be stripped of their rank and made into a lower class elf. They would also be tortured by Falon’din, degraded during the torture to remind them of their place. If they were to break a law, there would be severe punishments as well.
Falon’din’s key way to keep control was by utilizing fear of what he would do to those who would dare to disobey.

⨳ — BLACK SAILS; I
send one for my muse's reaction!
“We must surrender while we still can.” “What are you doing? Why aren’t you on deck with the crew?” “Oh, so you’re a coward, then?“ “Get down!“ “You know who that is out there?“ “Good cooks are in short supply, even for criminals.” “Please, let me inside.“ “Move away from the door!“ “We also know what it’s like to see our brothers die in the service of no end other than a tyrant’s pride.” “This one wants to join. Says he can cook.” “Minor obstacle. But we’re getting close.“ “What a cunning bastard you are.“ “I won’t give you the satisfaction of crying out.” “Justice is about to be done, and you turn your back.“ “No, no. I never said never. I’m too old to be using that word.” “This is one of those times where we pretend that we both don’t know that you’re lying.” “Get the fuck out. You want to run at first sign of trouble, be my guest, but don’t expect me to fucking help you.” “Now what the fuck do you want?“ “When you are strong, you are a necessary evil. When you are not strong, you are likely soon to be dead.” “It’s my money, isn’t it? Must I answer for how I spend it?” “Tell me, what is it that is so precious to you?” “Pleasure should be shared equally. It’s the only way to avoid hurt feelings.” “Look, this deal, it’s really a terrible idea. There are so many ways it could go wrong.” “Me, I can’t help myself. I see an opportunity, I take it. It’s a sickness. Truly. But you, you can still walk away.” “I wondered when this visit would come.” “You’re in a festive mood.“ “You should keep your distance till I signal you to return for me. If anything should happen and I don’t return soon…” “Your man in [LOCATION]. I need you to make an introduction.” “You may have nothing to lose, but I have a future planned I’m not so willing to throw away.” “Let me make myself plain. I will have that name.“ “[NAME]. You’ve caught me at business. I must ask you to return another day.” “Tell me something, [NAME]. Do you have gossip here?“ “Do I even want to know?“ “You are so ready to see the worst you cannot see what is right in front of your nose.” “The world is so full of surprises. Let it surprise you.“ “We have no kings here. I am your king.“

Falon’din is particularly vain and sensitive about his appearance. This could easily relate to the fact he’s very scarred from when the other Evanuris defeated him within his own temple.
#;; Secrets in Shadows ( HC )#( literally that moment )#( worst moment of his life )#( u kno besides the fact he created a war which shed enough blood to fill an ocean )#( how dare the other Evanuris gang up on him when he's trying to conquer )
