Day 19
Nothing much has happened this week, as I’ve fallen ill. I’ve read through my notes once but that’s not nearly enough to really get an accurate overview of my prepared material.
To Do List for this week
read through my notes at least three times
create a structure (chapter/section titles) for the thesis paper
assign studies to chapters and sections
decide on the main Frankenstein text passages to focus on for analysis
More will follow as soon as I recover.
Stay tuned!

Day 14
Today, I haven’t done much other than recharge my energy. The last two weeks have already been exhausting enough. I do have a small update: my official deadline has been revealed - 14.03.2025.
This is huge news because I was prepared to finish my thesis paper by the first week of February and have it proofread by mid-February. And while I do want to stick to this timeline, it’s a relief to know that I do have some leftover time for errors.
As promised, I have looked into the things I should put onto my next to do list. Please don’t forget that I’m also going to classes and work regularly next to working on my BA thesis, so the to do lists and time frames aren’t some form of do or die to me.
To Do List for this week
read through my notes at least five times
create a structure (chapter/section titles) for the thesis paper
assign studies to chapters and sections
decide on the main Frankenstein text passages to focus on for analysis
I currently have three big study sessions planned for this week to really focus on working on these new tasks. That should be a good start, right? It’s enough, right?
Stay tuned!

Day 13
Again, daily updates are a goal I set up for myself to fail but shooting for the stars will at least get me closer to them than doing the bare minimum.
I finished digitalising the last few passages today and actually read the last study yesterday. Now, I am the proud creator of a 223 page long research note collection. That should be enough for me to write a 20 to 25 page long thesis paper.
To Do List for this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
While it did take me way longer than expected, I finally finished all the tasks on my first to do list. Tomorrow, I will post a new one.
Stay tuned!

Day 8
At the very least, I did do some reading and submitted my proposal to the committee. And this on such a busy day, with Monday being the only day I have to attend classes at uni and then go to work afterwards.
To Do List for this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material (23 studies) and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
Tomorrow is the day I want to get through the remaining points on this list and write a new one.
Stay tuned!

Day 7 ?
Once again, I have been procrastinating and I even missed a couple of days of tracking my progress. But it’s not too bad because there has not been a lot of progress…
I did do some work during the weekend, for example reading some studies and digitalising all but seven text passages. And I fully intend to finish up with the remaining tasks ASAP, maybe even tomorrow.
I really need to do better next week.
To Do List for this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material (about 25 studies) and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
As soon as I get done with this week‘s tasks, I will write a new to do list for next week.
Stay tuned!

Day 4

Not much work was to be done today, to be honest. I didn’t even submit my proposal to the examination committee. But I’m planning to send it over per email tomorrow.
What I did do is count how many papers I still have to read (37) and read a couple. The remaining should be doable - the goal is to have read them all by Sunday.
To Do List for this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material (29 studies) and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
I am however hoping to digitalise the rest of my selected Frankenstein passages tomorrow. And I might make some more progress on reading the new material as well.
Stay tuned!

Day 3

First things first: my second examiner sent the signed proposal to me this evening and it is now ready to be sent to the examination committee! I will hand it in sometime tomorrow because it felt like a little too much pressure to do it right away.
I was merciful to myself today and will have to be tomorrow as well, since I’ve gotta work. But I did get some more research for further sources done and started digitalising the Frankenstein scenes I have selected for analysis.
To Do List for this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material (about 40 studies) and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
Tomorrow will most likely be a slow day as well but I hope to read about five studies and leave the rest for the weekend.
Stay tuned!

Day 2

Well, maybe daily updates were a bit unrealistic. I started this challenge because I tend to procrastinate a lot. And then I procrastinated writing the update post…
But at least I only missed day 1. And I actually have some good news: my supervisor answered me yesterday evening. She had one comment on my title, urging me to change it a little and when I did, she signed my proposal. I then sent it to my second examiner today.
During dinner hours, the lady from the examination committee answered an email I had written last week on all the questions I’ve been having on regards to the process of grading and matriculation. I learned that my deadline actually starts when my proposal is accepted by the committee - which means that any time issues I might have had are gone.
I also tried to do a little bit of research and found some more studies to read. I read a couple and called it a day. Since I’ve gotta work tomorrow, I’ll be merciful with myself and won’t expect to read all of the remaining new material tomorrow.
To Do - this week
send email to examination committee on all questions in terms of the process
send proposal to thesis supervisor
send proposal to second examiner
send proposal to examination committee
look for further research material
read the remaining new material (about 25 to 40 studies) and take critical notes
digitalise the selected Frankenstein scenes/pages for easier analysis later
It sounds like a lot right now but it’s also looking not too bad at the moment. I might regret saying this at the end of this week…
Stay tuned!

Details: 30-Day-Challenge

I’ve structured this challenge into four parts and aim to be done with the writing part of my BA thesis on the 31.01.2025. But I’m working with a little time bonus, so the actual day 30 of this challenge is the 02.02.2025.
Now, I am in a Bachelor of Arts programme and my thesis will be a literary analysis of 7500 words - 25 pages. I will be writing about posthumanist perspectives on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (the original 1818 version).
Yesterday, I sent my proposal to my supervisor via email so that she can sign it. Whenever she sends it back to me, I will send it to my second examiner. And when he sends it back to me, I will hand it in for approval of the examination committee. My 8 week deadline will officially start when my proposal is approved by the committee.
Technically, the approval could take 4 to 6 weeks - if they even approve it. But then again, since my two examiners will have already signed my proposal, there shouldn’t be any issues with that. All I’ve gotta do on that end is wait.
Which brings me right back to my four week structure: research, organise, structure and write. It seems doable once broken down into small steps. And in the end, my BA thesis is just another term paper!
I will post a daily update starting tomorrow which will include an overview of what I’ve done throughout the day and what’s on my to-do list for the next day/week.
Stay tuned!

I am back!
So, I wont lie, I kind of abandoned this account a couple years ago because I started studying. And now I’m back to use this account to track my progress with my BA thesis.
In order to not fuck up my deadline, I am going to attempt a 30-day challenge (still brainstorming a name that won’t catapult me into procrastination mode again).
In the coming day(s), I’ll upload my timeline, goals and other key details.
Feel free to join me on this journey!

Here where it should be
It’s time you tell everyone the truth,
about your heart that’s frozen in time.
Do it quickly like pulling a tooth,
even better, let me do it with rhyme!
That pretty pink thing in your chest,
not known for doing anything drastic.
As it is not even real, you know it best,
it’s simply made out of plastic.

How far would you go?
Would you wait for me
at heaven’s door?
Would you come with me
through the gates of hell?
Look for me in another life?
Search for me in paradise?

STORY IDEA
title: a shot of sorrow and heartbreak
“One day, your playboy antics are going to come back and bite you in the ass. You are going to fall in love and no one will take your feelings seriously. If not for that, you will end up all alone when you’re old and grey.” - best friend
“Yeah, whatever, I don’t think so.” - dude
_________________________________
“Where are you? I need you. I think I lived my life trying to prove you wrong; in spite of your words back then. You were right all along but it was always you. And now you’re gone and I’m alone.” - dude sobbing at his best friend’s grave

Season’s cravings
I’m sick of the temperature dropping,
hearing the crunch of pressed snow,
seeing the moon in the early afternoon.
I’m ready for the temperature increasing,
seeing the new buds open,
hearing the birds in the early morning.
I’m sick of the temperature increasing,
hearing the birds scream,
seeing the plants die in the heat.
I’m ready for the temperature dropping,
seeing the snowflakes fall,
hearing the sound of christmas carols.

This might come as a surprise but I have stopped writing these recently. There is so much going on in my life at the moment and I don’t have any time for it anymore. Don’t worry about me though, I’m still writing other things. If you would be interested in reading anything else - poems, short stories, some thoughts, ideas for dialogues or other stuff - please let me know. I have enabled asks and submissions. Thank you for listening to my thoughts and taking part in my personal therapy so far!

tag yourself - types of heroes
warrior: would rather die than cry in front of a crowd, always bracing themself for the next hit, taking one deep breath before going crazy on the battlefield, learning by being thrown around a lot
magical: easily mistaken for the bad guy, wanting everyone to dream about them, not ready to run athletically but will run from their feelings forever, quite willing to sacrifice anything to win
royal: still waiting for their new shiny toy, wearing glitter and jewel studded clothing unapologetically, waiting for the inevitable comeback of their evil uncle, the type to sell what others are buying
chosen: knowing nothing about anything is their default mode, tired of hearing all the love calls and hero worship they seem to be getting, keep them waiting at no cost, making their loved ones run from them
hybrid: conflicting personal interests, only needing a touch to understand other’s emotions, wearing a devil’s horns and an angel’s wings with grace, quite the dancer in the dark, their sanity’s driving in circles
involuntary: drawn to the river and forest, would rather blend into the background if they could, liking to be independent and to belong somewhere, getting back up no matter how many times they fall
fool: their kind unassuming soul constantly being played with, having a quick fight or flight response, not yet feeling the vertigo, meeting up with their friends to drink and play card games

tag yourself - flame colours
orange: won’t admit to being comfortable in their mysterious circus, a from the flame into the fire kind of lucky, sleeping on easy decisions and making life changing ones spontaneously, never ever alone
yellow: the type to fall into hero worship, so clumsy they are fighting for their life, not the type to make mistakes recklessly against all speculations, looking like a happy golden retriever
red: seeing the beauty in sadness, on level seven hundred eightythree on their sudoku app, into watching the x-files for comfort, telling their lovers they hate them to save them, dreaming about alternative realities
white: ready to mess with someone else’s stress, wanting to be let out and set free, doing everything to satisfy their bleeding heart, constantly testing their heart with crushes on mysterious people
green: happily riding the merry go round at amusement parks, somehow manages to stumble into opportunities whenever they need them, quite the expert at falling out of love, will not worry unnecessarily
blue: spinning other’s world out of control, knowing what to do if they had to choose, booby trapping their safety passwords, not taking the word of strangers seriously, seems warm but surprisingly coldblooded
