As a treat to go with the new chapter of baby boys, enjoy a deleted scene that I couldn't work into it (below the cut)

“Come on, Taylor, you haven��t let me play with you all week!” Austin whines, exasperation written all across his face.

Taylor crosses her arms and rolls her eyes, “You can play with Jackson. He’s a boy like you.”

Austin huffs in frustration. “I don’t wanna play with Jackson, he’s a baby. I’m the same age as Phoebe, why can’t I play with you guys?”

Josette answers with her nose scrunched up in disgust, “Because boys are gross. They have cooties”

Taylor nods in agreement, but Phoebe shrugs, glancing at Jo. “Not all boys are gross. At my old school some boys were nice.” 

Jo rolls her eyes. “But girls are just better. Girls don’t have cooties.” 

Julien frowns in confusion. “Naomi doesn’t have cooties and they’re not a girl.” 

“Yeah, but they’re not a boy either,” Jo points out, and Julien shrugs in concession of her point.

Taylor huffs again and puts her hands on her hips, turning back to Austin with a scowl. “I dunno, you just can’t play with us.” 

“Why not?” Austin asks again, just as cross with Taylor as his sister is with him.

“Well…” Taylor looks at the others for help. Lucy doesn’t know why she’s excluding Austin - he seems nice enough. When no one comes up with a good reason why he can’t play, Taylor groans. “Fine. But we’re playing house so you hafta play house with us.” 

“Okay,” Austin agrees, “what do I get to be?”

An absolutely evil grin spreads across Phoebe’s face. “I have an idea.”

Twenty minutes later, Austin is standing in Naomi’s basement, one of Josette’s princess dresses pulled over his t-shirt and shorts, makeup stolen from Katie’s sister painted across his face and the seven other kids all giggling as he pouts. “I thought I was gonna get to be the dad or something ‘cause y’all don’t have any boys in your group. Why do I gotta be the mom?” 

“We already have two dads,” Phoebe explains with a shrug. “The mom was the only spot left.”

The way the three of them are just itty bitty and learning how to love each other the right way and be there for each other and the way Lucy is so gentle and curious with Phoebe when she says her dad would be mad if they woke him up is genuinely healing my inner child.
