Relistening to RQG and I finally understand why Wilde became such an important characther to me and the answer is: anger and repression.
Alex constantly makes a point about how Wilde is hard to anger, how sometimes you see a small moment of genuine irritation but it fades as quickly. Even his frustrated explosion after being gaged, drugged and failing to cast lasts seconds before he composes himself. And is not that he doesn't feel anger but that anything that isn't controlled expressions of annoyance or light bickering he represses to hell and back. He seems almost afraid of feeling anger. And is never adressed but is ever there.
He also does it with other negative emotions, he is closed off at the end of the world but even then he tries to keep his despair at bay. That's why the first thing he does after everything is solved is non-stop crying because he was bottling everything until it was all over.
And as someone who represss a lot of myself but specially my anger I see myself so much in it. He can be annoying, petty, fight but when he gets grnuinally angry, he stops bootles it and smile. And more that's a learned behavior. In my experience one that is a result of being punished for expressing genuine anger (also in my experience it can be a response to seing anger in autorithy figures used as references as something that can only exist as destructive and harmfull to others around you, if someone hits you in anger and you don't want to be like them you can try to repress that anger).
Anyway very relatable. All my theories on the why and on the about are related to my experiences.

Summary: Zolf is the owner of Hope & Smith café and bakery. Wilde is a journalist. And they’re… friends? Yeah. Friends. And one night, Wilde stumbles into the café just before closing time in desperate need of just that—a friend—and sets off a chain of events that will change both his and Zolf’s lives, as well as the lives of those around them, forever.
Author: @shofics
Note from submitter: I rec not only this fic but the podcast it's from: rusty quill gaming, an ttrpg actual play podcast. It's got some of my favorite characters ever, and awesome queerplatonic rep in the relationship between Zolf and Oscar Wilde (yes, The Oscar Wilde, but heavily fictionalised). The fic is a delight, full of angst, fluff, comfort (so much comfort) and baked goods <3

actuaally fuuckingggg hate people who dont like art in any meaningful way unless its a drawing of batman mixed with superman or some shit. All those videos where people "destroy modern art" by putting a random object in a museum and insulting people when they take pictures of it are so irritating. Like yeah im sure some of the people taking pics are kind of annoying but most people are just trying to find greater meaning and beauty in things especially when theyre in a museum specifically to do that. You arent badass for not liking art youre just boring and refuse to find something interesting or beautiful in things you have already decided you hate

Daydreaming is an important part of writing. Even without words pouring out onto paper, you're still the author of stories.

“Get his ass” Is so unreasonably funny to me. A huge win for the English language. Today’s version of “seize him” imo

odysseus absolutely does present a threat to penelope if he perceives her as at all unfaithful, and i feel the unfairness of this, and i think people tend to undersell how much tension at least potentially exists between odysseus and penelope. but i'm also like. his reaction, all speculation aside, his actual reaction in the odyssey to her flirting with the suitors is delight, because he immediately ascertains that she is running a con. sorry that they're so in-sync in spite of the forces that try to drive a wedge between them, including their own misgiving hearts. sorry that they invented homophrosyne ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rebecca Sugar just posted this art of Pearl shapeshifted as Greg, trying to dance with Rose.
Rose: "Pearl, please."
Pearl: "..."
Rose: "Please stop, It's okay. we can do this, just don't be him."
i don't doubt that there is some timeline were she would go to an extreme like this for Rose's affection despite maybe having some trauma from shapeshifting, considering she's gone to extremes before to get validation or comfort from others. i see why it was scrapped (replaced with amethyst shapeshifting event?) since this is even more messed up than amethyst's 'rose' shapeshifting and probably would have made people hate on pearl too much, but still a very interesting thought though
like,,, the whole concept of this fills me with dread
