Assignments Are Out!
Your assignment should be scuttling toward your email inbox right now. If it's delayed, you can also find it at the collection page by clicking on "My Assignment" on the left.
A few reminders:
If your assignment somehow doesn't include ANY tags you offered, please contact us (off anon here, or by emailing [email protected]) as soon as possible! We'll try to figure out what went wrong.
You only need to create for ONE tag in ONE request! Your assignment contains your recipient's entire wishlist but you only need to give them one present.
Make sure you avoid any Do Not Wants your recipient listed! You can be flexible with other details, but Do Not Wants are mandatory.
Please don't say anything identifiable about what you're writing/drawing in public spaces like tumblr, twitter, discord servers, etc. You want the gift to be a surprise! It's ok to talk to a friend or beta in private (as long as you're not creating for them).
HAVE FUN MAKING COOL THINGS! You're all full of great ideas.

What should you do if you get paired with a request you are not comfortable doing?
There are a few things to keep in mind, first off:
Only the Do Not Wants are required. The prompts are suggestions, so if they focus on something you're not comfortable with, you can make something else that respects the DNW limits.
You don't have to create for the request that matches your offer. If there's another request in the assignment that looks more approachable, feel free to do that one instead!
Please don't talk about your assignment in public, but if you have a trusted friend/beta that you can chat with in DMs, that's absolutely okay! Sometimes bouncing ideas off another person helps a lot when an assignment seems daunting.
If that doesn't help:
If you want to try to work something out and create for someone else, please email [email protected] and let us know, and we'll see what we can do to help you stay involved.
If you'd rather just step back and not have to talk about it, you can default on your assignment by going to the assignment page on AO3 and hitting the "default" button. This will send an automated email to the mod account so we know to find another creator.
Hope that helps, and hope you get a great assignment!

oh hey hi... I was thinking of signing up for the sanguinalia exchange. I saw so many of my favs up there <3 but before i sign up i'd like to know if i can feasibly complete what i signed up for. if i think I can't i won't, because question 2.
here's my problem.
If I sign-up and fill in the "offer" box for, say, three character/ships, do I have to create/write/draw all THREE, or only ONE?
what if, what if I'm late to post it? what if? just in case?
can I post anonymously. as in, if I post anonymously to the collection AND the AO3 anon collection, after the works are revealed, can my work stay anon.
Thank you so much for hosting <333
Hi there! Some answers:
No matter how much you offer, you only have to create for one ship/character. Your assignment will contain everything your recipient requested, including at least one ship/character you offered. You can choose to make something for any of the tags in the assignment (it doesn't have to be one you offered if something else inspires you more).
If you find yourself running a little bit late (you just need an extra day or two), please be in touch and let us know! If you're running really late or we don't hear from you, we will arrange for a backup creator (often called a pinch hitter in exchanges) to make sure your recipient has a gift on reveals day. You're still welcome to post late if that happens.
Yes, you can. If you add your work to a permanent anon collection along with the Sanguinala one, it will still be anonymous when Sanguinala works get revealed, and there is no rule against doing that.
Hope this helps!

Is there any way to guarantee not getting matched with a specific creator? There's someone who I think does not like me
If there is a specific person you want to avoid matching with, please email [email protected] with your AO3 name and the other person's, and we'll make sure you don't get paired up.

Did I miss the deadline for making offers? I keep getting an error message.
Signups are still open! You should be able to add or edit requests and offers. What does the error message say?

About halfway through the signup period and we have 32 people so far! There are piles of exciting requests and a lot of people are offering generous lists of ships.
One more week to go! Good luck to everyone who's still working on their signup.

I would like to ask requesters to refrain from using abbreviations in request descriptions that are not common fandom/Warhammer abbreviations (like GW), especially abbreviations of book titles. It makes it harder to fulfill requests. Not all abbreviations can be easily parsed.
Passing this on: requesters, please spell things out if you're not sure an abbreviation will be clear to your audience.
When assignments go out, anyone who is confused about something in their assignment (whether an abbreviation or otherwise) can email [email protected] for clarification.

Also first time participating in an exchange.
I prefer to post my works as only shown to registered users. Can I do this for the assignments as well?
Also, do I understand correctly that I must write at least one work for each offer, if the offer gets a matched request?
Yes, you are welcome to post your work(s) as shown only to registered users.
You will only be responsible for creating one work, full stop. You are welcome to write extras if you're inspired and have the time! But the minimum is one per person.
At least one of the characters/ships in your list of offers will match at least one request by your assigned recipient. You may write for that tag, or you may choose to write for any other tag your recipient has requested, if you find yourself more inspired by something else.

This is my first exchange and I think I submitted my tags incorrectly and they have never made it to the list... Is it OK if I use other people's tags for my request? Or are these "their" tags and only the sender can use them?
You are welcome and encouraged to use any tags that you like! Nobody has a claim on them and overlapping with other people is a good thing (it makes matching people up much easier).
Very few tags were actually rejected from the tagset, but a number of them were edited to put them in "AO3 standard" name order, which is to alphabetize by family name (if any) or solo name. For example, if someone nominated Roboute Guilliman/Azrael/Lion El'Jonson, it would have been edited to be Azrael/Lion El'Jonson/Roboute Guilliman. It's possible this happened to some of your nominations, so you might want to check for names in different order than you nominated.
Good luck with your signup!

Reblogging from last year because the tagset is HUGE*, and this CSS can make it easier to browse if you want to look at who's on your fellow fans' minds.
*We had 254 tags last year, and this year we have 385 approved with the crucial last day to go.
AO3 tagset life hack
As we get more characters and ships added to the Sanguinala tagset, it's getting pretty unwieldy to read! However, there's a pretty straightforward way to change the display from this
to this:
If you already use a custom site skin on AO3, you can edit that skin to add the following CSS at the end:
.tagset .fandom.listbox .tags.index.group li { display: block; margin-top: 0.4em; line-height: 1; } .tagset .fandom.listbox .tags.index.group li::after { content: none; }
If you don't already use a custom site skin, you can make one with just this code. Go to your AO3 dashboard, choose "Skins" from the menu on the left, then hit the "Create Site Skin" button. Leave the dropdown set to "Site Skin," give it a title, and paste the code above into the CSS box. Hit "Submit" to save your skin and it will now appear as an entry on your Skins page. Click "Use" to turn it on.
This code will add line breaks between the characters/ships in any tagset you view while logged in. It doesn't change any other pages on the site.
Happy tagset browsing!
