King of the Hill S1E3 (The Order of the Straight Arrow) notes
I am pretty sure the Wematanye thing was also made up by John Redcorn, but it would be.. nice if this was more hinted at in the text or wasn't even brought up that the guys are just appropriating and making fun of supposed Native American sacred cultural thing.
"Dad, can we and Bobby bring life preservers?" "If you wanna we sissies" "(yelling to Bobby) He said yes!"
Bobby wholeheartedly believing what his dad says because he knows that his dad wouldn't lie to him was really cute.
*thinks that he resurrected a bird* "I'm a shaman" "(annoyed) oh god my head hurts" "I'll cure you *splashes him with water*"
The B plot of Peggy secretively buying new shoes bc her feet are big. Pretty funny.
The guys having pretty fucked up relationships with their dads and trying to project the same onto their sons bc they view their upbringing as 'good' in contrast to Eustace who is implied to have a good relationship with his dad and now has a good relationship with his son and a successful job.
It's cute how the kids just wordlessly accepted the glasses kid into the crowd and just have stupid kid fun together
The jokes about Save the Nature crowd being actually very ignorant about the nature and hypocritically destroying it too are pretty nice. Tho wouldn't hurt to have some actual level headed Save the Nature people, because otherwise the episode paints them as all hypocrites. I don't think the park ranger counts?
I think i would've liked if the episode just went through the boys' snipe hunt paralleling the younger guys' snipe hunt. Showing the guys' relationship with their dads and how it affected how they raise their sons now. And the differences between the old snipe hunt and today's.

King of the Hill S1E2 (Square Peg) notes
The way Peggy's office is also a closet/storage room- also her being the one in the family who has an office
^ a good way to remind/inform the audience that Peggy is a (substitute) teacher, before it becomes relevant in the ep
I'd say it was a pretty good ep: hilarious with a nice message about the fact that being repressed about sex and sex ed is actually not good and you should teach your children about this stuff.
Peggy is really cool for overcoming her fear of talking about sex. And Hank is great for coming around to understanding his wife's point and starting to encourage her.
Also i love that Luanne is helping her aunt and being supportive and not judgy
The little joke about Dale trying to phone Peggy with death threats is just hilarious
The comedy around both Hank and Peggy being absolute prudes and almost fearing the topic of sex is also pretty funny
Peggy trying to learn to say 'penis' with the help of the word 'happiness'
Bobby is just kind of a confused but curious kid. Joseph too; it's shame he didn't get to hear Peggy's lecture, but just teaching her son probably made it easier for her.
also him noticing the double standard about girls and boys having/talking about sex. And Hank acknowledging that it's a double standart.
(if i think about it, Peggy freely talking about Hanks narrow uretra and semen count(?) to a stranger is a big contradiction to this ep, but let's say maybe ep1 chronologically comes after this ep, and this is why Peggy is almost enthusiastic to talk about it)
Also ultimately this situation probably improved Peggy's and Hank's sex life (i feel like the scene where Peggy tries to convince Hank to rub in some cream on her back or put it on his elbows is kind of Peggy's way of trying to convince Hank to try new things and stuff (or a metaphor i dunno); and later in the ep Hank noticing Peggy's soft elbows from the cream kinda shows that he becomes more open to that kind of stuff, at least with his wife.
The guys talking smack about the sex ed sub teacher, but then they find out it's Hank's wife and politely shut up.
Also Bill trying to find something positive in the situation, but words it poorly, tries to retrieve, but making it sound even worse (while the other guys just quietly scoot away) and Hank punches him in the gut

King of the Hill S1E1 (Pilot) notes
the family banter scene in the car is pretty funny and feels like a real banter any family would have. If a bit.. wooden? doesn't have an energy to it?
the episode premise with some ladies just taking the situation out of the context and making assumptions and then the other ladies in the neighborhood started gossiping and it's kinda like a broken telephone. And then someone genuinely got worried and called child protective services.
Also i guess the twig cps guy from LA not getting the Texan culture and being too much of a softie? i like the scene where he talks with his superior and the guy is kinda chill and competent while the twig guy is pretty paranoid and making assumptions out of nothing and just kind of not doing his job properly? Because he should have asked the baseball coach to confirm if the thing about black eye is true.
Also those child services better look into Luane's case, bc what the hell
But yeah the inclusion of the other guy is pretty good, because it doesn't paint cps as completely incompetent, it's just that one guy.
Bobby is a little shit, honestly. Just causing problems on purpose
I like Joseph and Bobby, they are a fun duo of little shit kids
The scene where Dale is trying to prove that government controls the pollution and that global warming is somehow good and Hank is just "It already hot in Texas and if it gets even a 1 degree hotter i'm gonna kick your ass"
the little subplot about the guys trying to fix Hank's truck
Hank is really sweet with his niece even if he doesn't want her around his house
