The 10th Record Store Day releases were revealed on Tuesday tea time!
There are over 500 records to be released for the event’s 10th anniversary this April 22nd, making the full list of records a significant read to trawl your way through to find any gems you’d like to add to your collection.
For me, I’m going to be in line eagerly awaiting the Courteeners’ release of The 17th Remixes on 12″ pink vinyl, ready to add it to my extensive collection of their records. I’m also really keen to get my hands on Manic Street Preachers’ 12″ version of Your Love Alone Is Not Enough - one of the songs that originally got me into MSP whilst I was growing up.
The Cribs are also releasing Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever on gold vinyl for the 10th anniversary of their record as well as going on tour to play the album in full later this year (catch me doing my own drunken rendition of each song in the Leeds arena crowd in May). I’ll be dying to get my hands on a copy of that, as well as one of the Fred Perry record bags that the first twenty entrants to each store has been promised to celebrate Record Store Day’s 10th birthday!
For other Manchester music fans there’s also going to be a 7″ release of The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, as well as Peter Hook & The Light releasing NINE records for this RSD - all of live performances. Peter Hook always puts on an incredible live performance, and now that will be captured on vinyl through the following performances:
- Closer album (Joy Division), live in Manchester - Movement album (New Order), live in Dublin - Power, Corruption and Lies album (New Order) live in Dublin - Unknown Pleasures album (Joy Division), live in Leeds
I’m also looking forward to picking up the new release from Maxïmo Park, Risk to Exist, on exclusive splatter design vinyl to match the album’s cover, as well as hopefully getting a white vinyl copy of Catfish and the Bottlemen’s debut album The Balcony.
You can download a list of all 500 releases here and you can read more about Record Store Day, including the Fred Perry collaboration for the 10th year here

The Live at Leeds 2017 schedule has been announced!
Following the announcement of the lineup back in January, the schedule (read as: clash finder) for this year’s Live at Leeds festival has been released. The times are only for the Saturday, so if you’re waiting to see full set times for the Sunday’s finale show you’ll have to hold out a little longer.
I’m excited to see JAWS live finally, as well as catching another DMA’s performance having watched them at the festival last year. They’re much higher billed this year, and hopefully might even give us a preview of some of the new stuff they’ve been working on.
Other acts I’ll also be looking forward to seeing include Fletcher Jackson, Clay, The Night Cafe and Marsicans. I’d also recommend catching White Lies performing at the O2 Academy - they put on an incredible performance last time they were in Leeds, selling out Leeds Beckett’s Students’ Union, and I’ve been eagerly waiting on their return! (I was also very excited when they got announced for British Summer Time with The Killers!)
The Pigeon Detectives are also guaranteed to put on a stellar show not to be missed, returning to their hometown for the festival with a new record under their belts. Hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to drunkenly shout along all of the words to Romantic Type and Take Her Back, as well as their more recent Sounding The Alarm.
Unfortunately though, I’m going to have to make a decision between White Lies and The Pigeon Detectives, as the schedule has revealed that the two sets will overlap. It’s possible that a purchase of the festival’s new VIP ticket (which can be bought as a bolt-on/top-up for those who have already purchased standard tickets, or as a package for those who have yet to buy) may solve some of these issues, allowing for queue jumps across the venues, however obviously access isn’t guaranteed.
If you want to have a look at the schedule to see what’s on offer and plan your day out, click on the image above, or you can head to http://liveatleeds.com/ where you can see the whole lineup, purchase tickets and find out other information about the festival.
