Unpopular opinion maybe: but this isn’t what I want to see in Cap 4. I don’t want to watch Sam “earn” shit. He’s Cap now. He has the shield. Let’s jump right into Cap 4 with having him taking on some baddies… I don’t want to see him try to gain support or whatever, let’s just get to the story. Yes he’s just a guy, but he’s already proved he can be a superhero (about a half dozen movies ago) and that he can be Cap (in TFATWS) so, no, I don’t want to see him put through the wringer…

God why can’t they just have it be a good action adventure movie a la Cap 2???? I don’t want to watch Sam be questioned on his abilities and be made to feel “less than” for 2 hours, like??? And, duh, I know that there would definitely be people questioning him… but so what? Spellman doesn’t have the range to tackle heavy subjects anyway, so just give us a good action movie. Please. Smh I just hope the movie is good and does Sam justice.

Ugghhh FFS Sam doesn’t owe anyone anything, he doesn’t need to earn his place at the table.

And how about actually acknowledging that Sam had actually been to hell and back in the last few years?? His partner got killed in front of his eyes. He got out of the military “for a reason”. He gave up a job he was amazing at to help people, and talked about learning to deal with the pieces of war he carried back home with him.

He then went up against a behemoth of an organisation armed only with a set of wings and nearly died jumping out of a burning building. He’s barely gotten back into the groove before Ross pulls the BS with the Accords. This is probably the same business that turned him off the military in the first place, so of course he says no.

He winds up getting shot in the chest and put in an underwater jail, then blackmailed with Steve’s possible demise to get Steve and Bucky’s location, only to find out later that this ended in an even worse fight than at the airport.

He spends 2 years on the run, during a time when Sarah’s struggling with the family business, the kids, possibly even her marriage. Sharon can whine about not being able to contact her family while she’s setting up a crime syndicate in Asia, but what about Sam?? The outcast Avengers, judging by the readiness of their suits, have still been doing their Avengers duties even while on the run. He can’t contact or be there for his sister or his nephews, or the local community that he has such love for.

Then he disappeared during the Snap and let’s not forget he was alone when it happened!! Bucky at least had the chance to call out to Steve. What went through Sam’s mind?? How worried would he have been for Sarah?? As soon as he came back, the friend he gave up so much of his own life for just bailed on him and dumped the mess of a broken world and broken Avengers on him, and Sam had to hold it all together because no one else could.

Sam never complained about doing the right thing even when it’s been difficult and he’s rarely gotten any recognition for being good. How about we start by acknowledging that Sam had already been through the wringer? That he doesn’t need to be given fresh suffering just because you as one of the writers are too lazy to acknowledge his pre-existing pain? That he’s always been able to hold his own against superpowered people because the stuff that made him a hero was all inside? And he doesn’t need to prove himself what…worthy of the painted propaganda bouncy disc again?

It irks me that the MCU just never explores Sam Wilson's emotional journey in terms of all the traumatic crap he went through. He was a pararescue who watched his friend die, he went from working at the VA to becoming a superhero in like, a few days??? He lost FIVE YEARS because of the Snap and his best friend for years(I think around 3-4 years), who he went hunting for an ex-assassin with, went against the government with, didn"t even bother telling him a proper goodbye. NATASHA DIED and I know for a fact they met when the Cap Team was on the run, she was his friend too.

TFATWS only acknowledged very very little of it, and only the parts that they need to address to make him Cap. BUT THE OTHER SHIT STILL HAPPENED???? Bucky was allowed to mourn Steve being gone, but Sam just, could never. We never get to really see him be angry over Steve, or talk about Riley, or the missing years. Just........WHY??????
