I went through to Killarney Raceway on Saturday evening to watch stock car racing with some friends. These are just some random shots I took. Shot on a Canon 550D with a 50mm f1.4, and a 24mm f2.8. Enjoy.

I shot this promotional video for a local jazz and blues band. It was all shot on one night at Obz Cafe in Cape Town with Canon 550D and a 50mm f1.4, and 24mm f2.8. I grabbed footage while they were playing and managed to get two of the band members outside in a break between sets to interview them about the music they play. I had a monopod for stability and a Rode Videomic to assist with the audio capture.

I recently went up to JHB for work and shot a little road trip video of us traveling, and the kids cooking in the very swanky Foodiction kitchens. I used my Canon 550D with 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm primes with a Rode Videomic. Out of the plane window were done using my Go Pro Hero just so I wouldn't make myself a target for the officious air hostesses. The track was purchased through Express Track (Sonicfire Pro 5).

I wanted to try out some slow motion shots, so I ran down to the beach to catch the last of the days light and shot some quick scenes. I used my 550D at 60fps with a 24mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.4. I slowed it down to 15% in FCPX and applied 'Optical Flow'. Not bad. Might not have to get Twixtor after all:)

I was sponsored recently to go along to the iThemba Camp in KZN, and shoot them a promotional video. It was such a great weekend and I have always found what they do so inspiring. The challenge was to shoot something which would make you feel what these camps are like for the kids, rather than the traditional promotional video which just fires info at you. I shot with x2 Canon 550D's (Prime lenses 24mm, 35mm and 50mm) and a Go Pro which I used for the bus shots and the underwater footage. It was edited and graded in Final Cut Pro X (which as a first time FCP user I'm actually enjoying). The music was purchased from SmartSound through Express Tracks. Enjoy.

I've just started a new job as the in-house video/photo guy for yuppiechef.com and this is one of the first videos I shot for them. We're hoping to do a series featuring each of the staff here at the office over the coming months. I shot with 2 Canon 550D's and my primes (24mm, 35mm and a 50mm). Edited and graded in Final Cut Pro X. The track was bought purchased from Sonicfire Pro.

I was asked to shoot a behind the scenes video for the new Stimorol Taste Twist ad campaign, so I spent a Saturday afternoon on the steps of the court house in Cape Town surrounded by lighting rigs and extras. The TV and Radio Adverts in the footage are obviously not my material, just the BTS upfront. I shot with my Canon 550D and 3 primes (24mm f2.8, 35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.4) Enjoy.

I finally got the nerve to mount the Go Pro on the outside of the car with the suction mount and filmed the run from the Cape Town City Bowl round the north end of the peninsula to Hout Bay. It has to be one of the best driving roads in the world. Shame about the traffic. The track is "Bump in the Road by Jonny Lang.

I just go myself a Go Pro and so decided to take it out on a test drive. I used the suction mount to stick it to the inside of the passenger door and then took a drive round the beautiful Cape Town Southern Peninsula and back home to my spot in Noordhoek. I really want to try one on the outside of the car but I'm a bit nervous it's going to get nicked at the robots:) The track is "White Knuckle Ride" from Jamiroquai's new album: "Rock Dust Light Star". Enjoy.

Yuppiechef are running a great initiative called 'Eat for the Earth' where you can host a lunch in your home, invite your friends and ask them to donate anything from R25-R200 to a great cause, Soil for Life. You cook and your friends donate online and you all stand a chance to win great prizes! All money raised at Eat for the Earth lunches throughout South Africa will go to Soil For Life, an NGO that teaches people in underprivileged areas how to build soil and grow vegetables so families can sit down to fresh, nutritious and free food all year round. By creating green, growing spaces in otherwise unfriendly and lifeless areas, Soil For Life encourages a healthier way of life, food security, community development and plays a part in greening SA’s townships one home at a time. This is just a quick test video with my 550D. My cat is scared of cameras so I just ended up chasing her round the tree for 5 minutes, but I love the light in some of the shots... very nice lens flare. I used primes: specifically a 24mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.4. The track is "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars.

I love the work these guys do. I was down in KwaZulu Natal for the month of June 2010, doing some speaking in a local church, and while I was there I got swept up in the wonderful work iThemba Projects do. I followed them around and shot video for a week, and, trust me, whilst this may be a long promo video as they go, it doesn't tell half the story of the amazing impact these guys are having in Mpumusa. Everything in KZN was shot on my Canon XH A1s, and the interview with Stu was shot on my Canon 550D with a 50mm f1.4 lens. The main track is Black Eyed Peas "One Tribe".
