OK SO LIKE ok someone asked for details on this but it's way too much to write down in a reply. So here's my try at summarizing what happened at this part of our campaing! Because ofc I'll ramble about our blorbos when asked SDFFSDFSD

Spoilers for CotN obviously if you're reading this and haven't finished it!

Our CotN campaign wasn't by the book. Our party, Lunar Gambit, became besties with the rivals, Doomlight Sonata, and because of that our DM had us team up to defeat Alyxian. In our version of CotN, Ayo is ruidus born, hence her party name.

After Alyxian was redeemed, he teleported us out of the crumbling Netherdeep. However, the magicks didn't work quite as expected, and Lunar and Doomlight got thrown into a nightmare/parallel version of Ank'Harel where ruidus is lone in the sky and perpetually flaring. Lunar were immediately confronted by one of the Consortium of the Vermillion Dream leaders, Dendarron, who welcomed them to "the vermillion dream".

After his defeat, Lunar realizes that they have been separated from Doomlight. Trying to contact them by magical means isn't working. All they can do is figure out what the source of this "vermillion dream" is, destroy it, and hope that their friends are safe somehow.

They discover little by little that this place is in essence the Consortium's attempt to recreate the Netherdeep. They wanted to control the source of ruidium and weren't pleased that we destroyed the demi-plane. To realize their vision, they needed a new Alyxian who would be in a perpetual state of suffering to keep the dream alive and create more of the corrupted mineral.

Lunar defeats all of the Consortium leaders but Khelkur, who seems to be nowhere to be found. BUT after their last fight, they get ambushed, put to sleep, captured and brought in a temple to a long-forgotten god. When they wake, they see whom they assume to be Khelkur trying to complete a ritual using Prolix's connection to ruidus. Cause surprise the guy was ruidus born too!!

One of Khelkur's abilities was to create ruidium effigies of his victims. All he needed was the power of ruidium and a drop of someone's blood. The consortium was able to create their version of the Netherdeep using Prolix, but the guy wasn't as powerful as they had hoped, so they set their sights on Ayo instead.

To make the dream more powerful, they needed to completely destroy Ayo's resolve and make her fall into despair. SO, they used Doomlight's friends against them by making them fight against fucked up ruidium effigies of Lunar.

So during the whole fight, Ayo's going through it for many reasons that I don't have room to go in detail about >8,) BUT in the thick of it, she awakens powers within her that turn the tides in their favor, and they're ultimately able to save Lunar and destroy the dream! Khelkur was able to escape tho, and now he's one of the big antagonists in our campaign. Ayo is figuring out how to use her new ruidus powers and accept herself so she can become the powerful hero she's always dreamed of being. Alyxian became one of her role-models, it's very sweet 8,)

I still think of this little Shiver I drew *months* ago. I originally wanted to make keychains of all Deep Cut (and possibly the other idols), but I've had a hard time drawing them in the same style eheh.

My friends and I finished Call of the Netherdeep after one year of playing! We became besties with the rivals and even romanced a few. Now, we're onto new adventures with them. We're drawing new tokens for the gang, I was in charge of Ayo's!
