she could see florescent colours of metallic gold and shimmering pinks radiating from evangeline. scarlett smiles in turn, eyes bright. evangeline's excitement was endearing. if she hadn't experienced so much magic before ( and wasn't a bit of magic herself ), the inn would have sounded like a dream — something straight out of her grandmother's retellings about caraval ( minus the deceit, of course ). "i'm happy to hear that. i'm sure you've heard tons of good stories." and at the mention of jacks, scarlett's eyebrows raise. scarlett would be the first to admit that she never would have anticipated she'd see the prince of hearts actually in love in her life time. seeing and hearing what jacks had done to her younger sister, it didn't seem at all plausible. while he had been kind and helpful to scarlett when she asked him to find the count, jacks was also obsessive and cruel and not above doing anything to get what he wanted. to hear his curse had been broken ( and by their chosen ambassador, no less ), was a rattling revelation. "and how are you and jacks?" scarlett asks slowly, unable to hide her concern or curiosity.
