Kimberly was trying her best to adjust to everything before the kids actually showed up to camp, but her frustration in her lack of social skills has driven her to the point of isolation already. She was trying to tell herself she just needed to breathe and that there were people at camp who didn’t think she was a complete freak like that Heather girl. That she was going to get through this without needing to ring her mother or beg to leave. But she first needed to remind herself of what she was missing. The beauty of the woods perplexed her in some ways, but she was enchanted all the same. However that enchantment was broken the moment another staff member started speaking to her. And she tried to smile so she didn’t look so upset by the fact that she was no longer alone. At her offer she nodded her head. “I forgot to put some on before I went out....” she admitted, a blush on her face. “How stupid of me.”

The smell of pure nature brought a smile to Charlie’s face as she shifted her camping bag on her shoulder while taking in the layout of the camp. She was absolutely in her element, and just the thought of all the new hiking trails made her even more ecstatic to the point where she could barely contain herself. Before taking another step though she remembered an important detail, and tossed her bag in front of her before searching through it. After a few seconds of rummaging she found her bottle of sunscreen, and started to apply some when she suddenly noticed another staff member hanging nearby. “Hey! Did you want to use some? Just in case. You never know how harsh the sun can get around here, and sunburns just suck a lot y’know?”

Kimberly didn’t think she was a bad person. She knew that a lot of what she had been taught was a little out-dated and that she could use this newfound freedom to make friends and have people like her for once....but she just seemed to keep messing up. She didn’t know what she did to Heather other than say hello to her but ever since she just seemed to be the girl’s punching bag. She has tried praying for her, avoiding her; it just didn’t seem to matter. She hadn’t even been here that long and was already ruining everything. At her words Kimberly flinched, looked at the ground. “Knock it off, H-Heather. There is no need for such language.”

Heather has always been, bluntly put, a bully. She thought she was better than everyone else. She was always more beautiful, talented, and individualistic than the others. Or so her father told her. This carried on into her adult hood. Usually behaviors like that would die out and settle down it didn’t with Heather. She had made it known around camp that she wasn’t one to fuck with because she would kick you while you’re down. One girl she’d taken a dislike to was a girl named Kimberly. The girl was meek and an easy target for Heather. When walking past her outside Heather smirked and yelled out, “oh, shiver me Kimbers. It’s sweet, little Kimmy. I heard you were down on your knees again today. Tell me, was it for Jesus or are you just a slut? Not that you’ve likely ever gotten some from anybody.”

[ she ] makes me think of [ white satin dresses, praying before meals, and the sound of a sewing machine ]. their favorite horror movie is [ poltergeist ] and they remind me of [ carrie white ]. [ nat. 24. est. she/they. ]
a little info about saint kimberly
it has always been kimberly and her mother. she has never met her father and doesn’t really want to know him based on the things her mother often screamed about relating to him.
because of her mother’s distrust in men she has a big distrust in them as well. which was never really a problem considering she hadn’t been around them much until high school. her mother was determined to home school her for most of her life, but she was not a patient teacher. kimberly liked to learn though so she latched onto her studies since her mother didn’t really like her going out much at all.
they lived in a pretty small home in pennsylvania. it was old and the floors creaked a lot so it was hard for kimberly to sneak around and her mother had excellent hearing. repairs were something her mother tended to do by hand which meant things didn’t work that well afterwards but kimberly adored their home for the most part. there were rumors about it once being haunted but kimberly thinks the neighbors started that to have a reason to avoid talking to her mom.
kimberly just wanted to be like the other girls she would see on tv from time to time. she didn’t think that was asking for a lot and she begged and begged for normalcy until she was gifted the opportunity for public schooling. she got her last few months of middle school in, which was weird to be shoved into when most of the people in her hometown knew each other well, but she made it work.
once high school though started it was game over. kimberly was fully exposed to the world she was missing out on and she loved it. it was messy and mean and complicated but she finally felt like she was doing something valuable with her time. making friends was really hard because her social skills are about as good as her moms, but she tries her best. she is a good-natured person deep down.
but she can be a bit judgmental. because her mother was so set on instilling her teachings into kimberly and for the most part they did stick. it didn’t help that her mother was overtly religious and expected kimberly to be just as much as she was. but in all honesty kimberly doesn’t know what to believe in. she wants to believe that everyone has good in them and they try their best to do good things, but her mother is always telling her otherwise.
once high school was over community college it was. kimberly knows her mother can afford it and she is able to get away and hide out in the library from time to time, which is her favorite thing to do.
the one thing that has ever been kimberly’s in embroidery. she loves it even though her peers call her an old lady for it. it relaxes her when she gets worked up and helps her work out the thoughts in her head.
she saw her first horror movie sneaking it on the television while her mother was asleep. ever since then she has been a little too into the dark and stranger side of cinema.
she also has a deep love for music, but she had to listen to it when her mother was out because she found most of the modern music annoying.
surprisingly the idea of going to camp was her mother’s. she thought it would be a “safe” way of self-expression and kimberly hopped on the first chance to be away from her home. being a counselor was her own choice. for her entire life it has always been about her mother or what other people thought about her or different ways to avoid being surrounded by a crowd she didn’t understand and now she just wants to dive into it all. she wants to learn new things, experience life, and she thinks this camp will be her new safe haven.
she really does like kids but she sure does have a hard time connecting to them. which is unfortunate to watch in all honesty. so she is a bit of a pushover because she just wants them to like her.
so overall she is a bit judgey, and bit naive, but very determined to change those two things about her. a bit of wildcard now that she is nowhere near her mother.
wanted connections
someone who encourages kimberly to go and party every now and then. this person gave introduced her to smoking and drinking and letting loose. kimberly is a little co-dependent with them but it’s only because she has yet to find her own voice in these social situations.
a crush. for so long she has been afraid to open her heart but there are so many cute guys at camp that it’s hard for her not to swoon at people every now and then. but this guy....this is the one she can’t get out of her head.
someone who can’t stand her. kimberly is judgmental by nature and probably said something to offend them so honestly we cannot blame this person for not liking her.
classic bully. kimberly is really easy to bully so i mean.....why not? kimberly isn’t the type to fight back...at least not now.
and if anyone has ideas please share with me i suck at thissss.
