How to Summon Your Guardian

Neopagans call them guides. Catholics call them angels. Some witches call them fae. Different names in different faiths, yet the same being. The one who walks beside you.

The First Call

My elders say our guardian is close to us when we are children. Because that is when our soul contract with them is fresh and new. As we grow older, we push them away because we have forgotten they exist. They still check on us now and then, but they no longer stay. To call them back to you, do this:

Wherever you are in the world, no matter what time it is, begin by sitting still and closing your eyes. Take deep breaths until you feel isolated from the world around you. Using these exact words, or simply as a guide, speak out loud or in your mind:

“I now recall. You are the good luck that comes to me unexpectedly. You are the bad luck that saves me from worse luck. You are the whisper that tells me where to go. You are the push that shoves me to the right path. You are the caress that heals my aches. You are the pain that strengthens my resolve. You are the companion I had forgotten about. But now I recall. And back to me, I now thee call.”

Make the words true, by recalling the times when an invisible force seems to have saved you. When something hopeless suddenly worked out for you. When some suffering turned out to have been good for you. These are the acts of your guardian.

Then open your eyes.

The Vision

In the next minutes, hours or days — it is not the same for us all… wait for a response. A dream. A sensation. An encounter. Some sign that your guardian has heard your call and has returned at your side.

This will be different for everyone. But when it comes, it will be undeniable. Because whatever sign is sent will be deeply personal. A symbol that meant something to you in childhood. A song you used to love ages ago. Mine was a hypnopompic hallucination.

More often than not, it will also reveal the appearance of your guardian. A glimpse of their face. The sound of their name. A revelation of who they are. And whoever you see or hear will not be surprising to you. After all, you have known them before. Deep down, your soul still remembers.

Wait for this vision before you proceed. If it never comes, repeat The First Call. This time, more solemnly.

The Gift

Give your guardian an offering. An acknowledgment of your vision and a reaffirmation of your intention to walk with them once more.

Whatever you give, it needs to have value — material, sentimental or both. My elders say it is better to offer something you already own and hold dear, instead of acquiring something new and shiny, whose worth could be artificial.

Leave this offering somewhere special for your guardian. If you have a sacred space, an altar or a shrine… leave it there. If not, it could be a dedicated space in your bookshelf, in your dresser or on your desk.

In your own words, tell your guardian this gift is for them.

The Sharing

You want your guardian to share their life with you once more. So you too must share yours with them. This means leaving out for them a piece of something you enjoy every now and then.

Treated yourself to a bar of chocolate? Give them a piece. Put it beside their gift. Dispose of it the day after. Bought a bottle of perfume? Spray some in the air for them to smell. Received a bottle of wine? Pour some in a glass for them to taste.

Make this second nature to you. Share with your guardian your little happinesses. Not as a sacrifice, and not even as an offering. Think of it as having a friend that your eyes cannot see but your soul can sense. This is not a deal, an exchange or a spell. Just an act of decency and kindness.

The Incantation

In times when you need help, or in moments when you feel scared… make sure you have an incantation at the ready to tell your guardian you need them. If you are religious, think of it as a prayer. If you are pragmatic, think of it as dialing emergency.

The words have to be your own. The length needs to feel comfortable to you. The rhythm has to sound meaningful to your ears. Mine is based on a prayer I learned in Catholic school as a child:

“Lucifer… my inspiration, my angel, my friend… Be at my side, to light and guide, to rule and guard. Amen.”

Disclaimer. these observations do not have to resonate with everyone and everything, all expressed in this post is based on personal experience and research.

𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞

These folks are super optimistic and known for their creativity and self-expression. Their main goal in life is to inspire others. They can sometimes be a bit narcissistic, but we'll get to that later. Their sense of self is tied to their physical appearance, so they often dress really well—sometimes even overdress. They always want to look their best and are very confident, never second-guessing themselves. This confidence can come off as too strong sometimes. People with the sun in the 1st house often see themselves as the main character in their story, with everyone else as side characters. Gemini Ascendant’s will NOT marry someone who isn’t making them consistently laugh their ass off or who is too serious

How I Speak to My Ancestors

My elders have taught me this process, because it is the safest and surest. The modern way of simply sitting down and meditating opens itself up to other spirits responding, lying, pretending.

The Time

Whenever I feel the need, I approach. But the most potent occasion for communing with the dead is on the anniversary of their birth or their death, as well as on the last days of October and the first days of November, when the veil between realms is at its thinnest.

The Place

Wherever I am in the world, if I feel the need, I approach. But the most powerful location for meeting the dead is the cemetery where they are buried, or the room where their ashes are kept, and the place where they spent most of their years – their true home.

The Conduit

I hold in both hands a goblet filled with water and three drops of my blood. Water takes the path of least resistance, making it the best vehicle for intent. As for blood, my earliest ancestors do not know my face. I need to show them who I am deep inside.

The Summoning

Alone – in a quiet corner or inside a tent if I am somewhere public – I gaze upon the goblet and say, “In the name of those who made me, I call upon those who came before me.” If it is someone in particular whom I wish to speak to, I say their name.

The Query

The moment I feel the atmosphere change around me – from cold to warm, or the other way around; from light to heavy, or from dark to bright, I recite my query. A question about my past, present or future. Whatever requires my ancestors’ advice or answer.

The Answer

I wait. Sometimes the blood rises up to the surface, forming symbols or letters. Other times the goblet sends vibrations – soothing or frightening, conveying how I will soon be feeling. Other times yet, sound originates from the water and travels up to my ear, delivering names, dates and entire sentences.

The Token

After I have received my answer, I empty the goblet, pouring its contents on the ground or down the drain – whatever my surroundings allow. The moment I reach home, I fill the goblet with wine, and place it among plants or flowers (the garden or an altar) as a token of my gratitude to my ancestors. I dispose of it respectfully a day later.

We call it the Ritual of Wandering.

I first did it when I was five.

I woke up after a nap crying. I told my dad I saw a dollhouse in my dream, and that I wanted it. He gave me some money, told me to go back to sleep and buy it.

Of course the real reason he gave me the money was so I could get one from the mall.

But the cash was gone by morning. I thought my dad took it back. He swore he did not, and had my brother take me to the mall to find a dollhouse.

That night, I woke up at 3:00 AM. Instead of the dollhouse we bought hours before, what I glimpsed on my desk was the one I had seen in my dream. Turns out I went back and bought it after all.

Even now, when I sleep over in my childhood home and wake up in the middle of the night to pee, I still see it on the desk, as if waiting to play with me.

It is only our body that requires sleep. When we dream, our soul stays awake, journeying in limbo to places our body cannot go. We either find ourselves in our memories of the past, in a hidden corner of the present, or in the future. Even in a parallel reality, or beyond the veil. Oftentimes, we come across other people.

Wandering, or astral travel, is simply setting a destination instead of merely going with the flow; as well as making sure the mind remembers the expedition.

The first step is to decide where you wish to go. A moment from your childhood? A year into the future? In a parallel reality where a loved one who has passed on is still alive? Or the day when you will walk the aisle as a bride?

Wherever it is, you will visit as a spectator, unable to influence what is happening in that reality, but capable of interacting with other wanderers. Think of it as watching a movie. But instead of being in front of the screen, you are inside it.

On a night when the moon is full or waxing, go to bed wearing the appropriate shoes. If it is cold where you are going, bring a jacket. If it is likely to rain, hold an umbrella.

Once you are used to wandering, you will no longer need the help of the moon and the protection of clothing.

Lull yourself to sleep by slowly reciting:

Hum the words slowly. Chant them rhythmically. They are powerful words that lift the veil, allowing your soul to leave this reality. As you speak them, think of the place you wish to be.

The moment you surrender to slumber, you are guaranteed to get there. What is uncertain is if upon waking, you will remember your journey. If you do not, it only means you are not yet strong enough.

Keep trying. Some witches succeed on their second night, others on their ninth. There are those who can do it on their first, but only for a few moments, before being thrown back into our world.

Money Bowl Tips ✨💸

I absolutely adore doing money bowls. They serve as an amazing way to build up abundant energy and help with layering your workings. They’re a fairly straightforward working that you tend to by continually feeding it energy or “working” the spell. Let’s jump into some tips.

1.) Have a schedule with it. I recommend feeding your bowl energy fairly often, ideally weekly on Thursdays, but at least once a month. Thursdays are connected to Jupiter which is the planet connected to wealth and abundance. 🪐

2.) Add a candle. A fairly low energy way to keep up with tending to your bowl is to spell a candle for it. After it’s prepped and ready, place it in the bowl. Lighting the candle will feed the bowl energy. 🕯️

3.) The base is just as important as the rest of the bowl. Commonly you use salt or rice for the base. I recommend going a little extra with it. Recently I’ve been into making spell crafted cinnamon salt and using that as my bowl base. Put energy and intention behind making your bowl’s base. It’s literally the foundation of this spell!

3.) *some* herbs you can use in money workings: Alfalfa, dill, basil, chamomile, bay leaves, catnip, oranges, cloves, lemongrass, jasmine, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, mints, star anise, cats claw, and oregano. There are a bunch of options. These ones just have direct correspondence to money drawing.

4.) Set goals for your bowl. Whenever you feed your bowl, focus on this goal you’re driving towards. With money magic you ideally want to be as specific as you can be. These can be long term or short term goals. I usually focus on long term and building stability and sustainable energy flowing to that goal.

Pile One

I feel like your relationship with your guides is like “hide and seek”. They have an old presence in your life. Even if you are just now beginning your spiritual journey or are just now having the urge to seek out more about them and who they are, it seems as if they have always been in your life, and already have a connection or have had close contact with you. Specifically when you were a kid. Perhaps you’ve had “imaginary friends”, repetitive encounters with the same person or entity in your dreams, or have parents who recall you being distracted and smiling a lot at what appears to be mundane things as a baby. I call this hide and seek, because it’s like a lot of your occultic knowledge or experience psychic gifts were things that you’ve already learned as a child, but were conditioned to move away from for whatever reason. Your stunted relationship with your guides could appear in interests that you also had to separate from, like studying mythology, an interest in plants but also marine animals, gaming, drawing comic book characters, collecting items for yourself but stopping because someone considered that as not intellectual or important, and even crafting things yourself, regardless of how good you were at it, but because it gave you peace and happiness. Your guides see you as their family, they protect you like they are your parents, because their love for you is like having a child. They love it when you’re being silly and they love to sneak in silly things for you, to let you know that they’re here and when something is going to be ok. Maybe you use dark humor frequently as a way to cope with something that you’re struggling with or when you think about the ways that you’ve been let down in the past. You joke that way because you feel that it’s the only way to have some control in a situation that you predetermined will go down hill and be the end of you. You could talk to yourself or talk about your life in a way that is self-loathing and impeded, but your guides work and send you messages meant to bring you back up whenever you’re losing your determination to keep going. They’ll joke with you, but not in a way that encourages you to lose hope or to fail in seeing the good in yourself. It’s more like instead of showing you to laugh at yourself, you laugh at your mistakes, or you laugh at how crazy other people can be when they displace their negative inner feelings onto other people to show that it has nothing to do with who you are, what you do, or what you look like. Money is strong in this pile. This could be a message saying that you won’t have to fear about money forever and that a financial breakthrough is going to happen for you and you’re going to be financially stable doing something that you love or are currently building to support your living situation. However, mainly, I’m getting that in your spirit guides’ eyes, they’ve watched you grow up feeling less than because you didn’t grow up with a certain luxury, maybe you grew up in poverty, felt insecure about the things that seemed so easily accessible to everyone but you, or don’t know what it’s like to have a loving parent, but your guides have always seen you as a rich person and it has nothing to do with material items. They see you as brilliant, you work so hard for what you have and you’ll see the results multiply in the future, even if you struggle to find the right words for yourself–You always know what to say to others about stuff that they struggle to see within their own lives.

Pile Two

Your strongest clair could be clairaudience. If not, then it feels like you guys are good with picking up things by what people or say, or you have a strong intuition for what isn’t visible or said, but you have a poor time going forward with your intuition. When you get “right”, you tend to go left, then regret what you find out because you didn’t listen to what was initially divinely given to you. Your guides are nature beings, you can connect with them through plants but also relics or shrines. I keep getting inanimate objects, so you could have a few deities that govern planets, like moon goddesses watching over you. I feel that the connection that you have with your guides is like Yue from Avatar: The Last Airbender. You mirror each other and embody dark feminine energy. They’re gentle, ancient, and wise. People think that all spirit guides are like that, but no. Guides have personalities of their own, and not all are good. They see you as loving, maybe too loving, meaning you love without boundaries which could cause you some pain and a lot of repressed anger. You may not like to be perceived or put on a pedestal, but they do, because they truly see what’s in your heart. You just need guidance. They accept you for your good and bad traits, but it doesn’t mean they don’t lead you into improvement and learning to take accountability. You can be sweet, but you can also be bitter. They feel hurt when they see that you’re hurting, but they don’t want you to hold on to bitterness because people that harmed you will see that again and it’s not your business as to when. I will say that this isn’t to mistake them as peace and turn the other cheek, because they are not. They are wrathful behind the scenes towards people who hurt you or even think about hurting you. They’re very protective over your life, but there are some things you have to do to look after yourself since you guys are from two different worlds. This pile feels extremely hazy. They say that you are so smart, beautiful, and talented, but you have trouble seeing this and it pains them. You have potent manifesting abilities that range from making things happen yourself with your skills to knowing how to conjure with spirituality. It’s like you can create and create, but that’s still not enough for you, even when you are likely to top the latest thing you achieved. You need to learn how to rest and also be okay with yourself. There’s this habit of working and studying a lot for credentials, but still feeling less confident, leading you to give your power away to people who are boastful. Even though I feel practitioners and believers of spirituality in this pile, especially since this is a tarot reading, there’s a lot of skepticism here. There’s not enough trust or belief and this could be upsetting to your guides, they’re able to see things beyond your present reality which could make them patient, you could even be an impatient person, but it seems like both of you need to allow time to do its thing.
