Scrittorio Magazine, Winter 2023 Feature: AI in Fiction Writing
There are a lot of strong feelings about AI in the creative field out there - and many of them warranted. Yet, there are many who believe that using AI creatively doesn't have to be a negative experience. These two camps both have their arguments, and I've tried to represent them to the best of my abilities, but the core question remains:
As writers, do we need to worry about AI writing fiction novels?
Of course, there's no straightforward answer there, because while most AI software might not be able to write a novel, we don't know what the future holds. And, if people could generate AI fiction novels and have them ready to go in mere minutes, or perhaps a few hours, where does that put the rest of us authors? Is there any way that this ends well?
I can't purport to know where all of this is going, and whatever solutions I do consider are easily circumvented by the more disingenuous among us.
It's a tough issue; AI is here, and there's no closing the lid on it. So, where do we go from here?
Read the article on Scrittorio's latest issue and let me know your thoughts about where we're headed with regards to AI in fiction writing.

Scrittorio Magazine, Winter 2023 Feature: Writing Horror in a Time of Horrors
Featured in today's post is the short article, "Writing Horror in a Time of Horrors", which you can find in the Scrittorio Magazine Winter 2023 issue.
This article discusses why we gravitate towards the horror genre as writers, though the reasoning could easily be applied to readers/viewers/listeners of horror fiction.
Dive into the very real problems which fuel our nightmares, and consider the recent rise of the horror genre in all of its multiple dimensions.
If you've ever wondered why writers write horror - why some horror writers feel the urge to write truly terrifying experiences and stories which stick to you long after you've put them down - give this short piece a read. And don't forget to tell me what you think.
To read "Writing Horror in a Time of Horrors", grab your free copy of Scrittorio Magazine here!
While you don't have to download Scrittorio, if you want to use the worksheets, the table of contents, or the links in the Interactive Fiction article, you'll need to download the magazine and open it on a browser or PDF reader.

Scrittorio Magazine, Winter 2023 Feature: Writing Goals and Self-Reflection
We'll start off the Scrittorio Magazine feature post series with the Writing Goals and Self-Reflection journal segment.
In this set of journal prompts, you'll find questions about your goals, your motivation, your fears, your plans - everything that you need to consider as you move forward in your writing journey.
With a simple, low-distraction design, you can use these prompts for a week-long journaling routine. Consider what you've accomplished, how you started with your writing craft, what your concerns are, and what you'd like to accomplish moving forward, among other things.
These questions can be useful throughout the year, but which are probably best tackled early on in 2024 so that you can better orient yourself as a writer.
Grab your copy of Scrittorio and get started on your 8-day writing journal!
Note: To fill in the text boxes, you need to download the magazine and open it on your browser or PDF reader. Don't forget to save your PDF (you can replace the original file) before exiting! Otherwise, you'll lose everything you wrote.

In the Margins is an integral part of each Scrittorio issue, so give it a look-see when the next issue comes out on December 31st, 2023!
⭐I'm really proud of this issue's In the Margins segment.⭐
ITM was always supposed to be a way to look at examples of real, successful writing and elicit from it writing techniques and practical lessons that writers can then turn around and put to good use immediately.
I'm not so sure I accomplished that with the previous ITM, but I've certainly done a lot better with this one. 🤩
So if you're interested in writing humour, do not miss this issue!!!
Also included are worksheets with humour writing exercises and an interview with the writer of the humourous As Good As Dead web fiction, which you can read online for free!
(Obligatory 'Subscribe to Scrittorio for free here!' 💙)
Spread the word! Scrittorio will be the last gift in your inboxes this year 😊
🎁🥳
