As the wedding season is around the corner, COLORS also gears up for a big fat,  star-studded wedding event titled ‘Shaadi Ho Toh Aisi’. This event is going to be an entertaining affair but will also highlight the social issues like dowry and caste system, that is still prevalent in the modern era. Viewers will witness various members of the COLORS’ family come together for an extravagant wedding ceremony of Jiya (Played by Tejaswi Prakash).  The event will showcase her unique story as chooses family over her love Kunal (played by Priyanshu Jora). She decides to marry a boy of her family’s choice Rajveer (played by Neil Bhatt) as the man she loves isn’t accepted by her family due to his caste. But how does this end, is for viewers to witness  in the end?

The great grand wedding will witness some amazing performances by the COLORS’ family and will have all the wedding rituals like Sagaai, Haldi, Mehndi and Sangeet celebrations. Not only this, to add the glamour quotient of this wonderful wedding event, the viewers will also witness star performers like, Manish Raisinghan, Kanika Maheswari, Sanket Bhosale who will be adding to the oomph of the glitzy evening with their dazzling performances.

The bride to be Tejaswi Prakash said, “I am happy to be associated with COLORS once again for this gala event. India’s 1st BS6 Motorcycle Hero Splendor iSmart launched at Rs. 64,900

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today launched India’s first BS-VI compliant motorcycle – the new Splendor iSmart which will be available to customers at a price of Rs. 64,900 (Price ex-showroom Delhi). Starting from Delhi/NCR, the motorcycle will gradually be available at the Company’s dealerships across the country over the next few weeks.

The new Splendor iSmart by Hero MotoCorp is being launched in the market within a few months after the company became the first two-wheeler manufacturer in the India to receive the BS-VI certificate from iCAT.

Splendor iSmart  will be availabe in three vibrant tones – Techno Blue & Black, Sports Red & Black and Force Silver & Heavy. The motorcycle will have two variants – Self Drum Cast and Self Disc Cast (added BS-VI onwards).

Splendor iSmart sports a 110cc BS-VI Compliant Fuel Injection engine with optimum calibration – delivering an power output of 9 BHP at 7500 RPM and an greater torque on demand value of 9.89 NM at 5500 RPM. The new motorcycle also features the i3S technology for a superior ride with an impressive fuel efficiency.

With +15mm front suspension, 180mm ground clearance and +36mm wheelbase, the motorcycle gets added comfort and stability to ride through rough terrains.

The contestants up their game and buckle up with new strategies for the next round. The second buzzer rings and the competition between the housemates increases as they decide to perform the task with great sportsmanship, come hail or storm. But to everyone’s shock post the second buzzer the task takes an ugly turn and gets violent when Sidharth Shukla gets a bit aggressive. Wrongdoings lead to punishments, one such action is taken against Sidharth Shukla too.

Some with heavy hearts and some with satisfaction, the contestants retire post an exhausting day. Waking up dancing to the tune of ‘Proper Patola’ contestants get ready to get on to their daily chores but the kitchen and rationing team get a shock to see the ‘Aata’ is very less in quantity. The missing ‘Aata’ turns into a heated argument between the contestants. Aarti blames  Paras and Asim for not managing the ration well. This offends them and they try to explain to her that considering the quantity of the ‘Aata’ given was more this week and would suffice everyone, but they feel either someone has hidden or Bigg Boss has taken it back. This conversation leads to a tiff between Asim and Aarti who is seen supporting Paras on the issue. Asim says that she is wrong and there is a necessity to have a new captain on board. Aarti gets hurt as when she had an opportunity of saving one contestant from nominations, she decides to save Asim but now he is the one who is questioning her.

Later the Bigg Boss transportation task begins again. The contestants give a tough fight to each other and give their 100%. For the new game, Paras’ strategy comes as a turning point for their team. Paras wants to make Hindustani Bhau the next captain of the house. Hindustani Bhau on the other hand tries to question Shehnaz for teasing Himanshi. Shehnaz misunderstands and raises her voice which doesn’t end well.

Before releasing the trailer, the team of Panipat organised an informal brunch event for media in Mumbai. A special preview of the trailer was also shown to them. The media persons thoroughly loved the trailer and it has got a thumbs up from them.

Amidst all praises, the team has today unveiled a new poster featuring the trio and the trailer digitally. The trailer showcases the Maratha empire and its epic tale. Goodbyes are hard to say, especially when it is least expected. This season of Bigg Boss which promised to be an express one with truckloads of twists saw its mid-week finale this weekend while welcoming a few new faces and bidding goodbye to a few old ones. While the contestants were well aware of the mid-season finale and the eviction of three contestants, it came as a shock for everyone when Rashami Desai, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, and Shefali Bagga were evicted from the house. Host Salman Khan highlighted that it’s because of their careless attitude that they have to let go of a few top contenders. Especially Rashami who was one of the top 6 contestants according to the vote ranking while Mahira was done not even feature in the top 6.

Since the beginning of the show Rashami and Devoleena were one of the strongest contestants in the house. They found great friends in each other and became each other’s support. Devoleena, who became the first queen of the house gave her 100% to the task and was strong competition to the other housemates. Fondly known as the ‘Bahu Bani Babe’, viewers got to witness her transformation in just four weeks. On the other hand, Rashami Desai emerged as an integral part of the house with her cooking duty. Apart from forming good connections with Devoleena, Paras, Mahira, Siddhartha Dey, and Shefali, Rashami was often found locking horns with Sidharth Shukla leading to multiple fights and arguments. So much so that it divided the house into two groups.

The third contestant, Shefali Bagga was the strong opinionated girl of the house who always took a stand for herself irrespective of the situation. Striving to secure their position as the mid-season finale approaches, Bigg Boss motivates the housemates to play the game with the right spirit and wakes them up to the song, ‘I am the best’.

The previous night’s task has left an impact on Rashami, Shefali, Devoleena, Paras and Mahira. The group seems to be unsure of each other’s loyalty towards Shefali wanting to change the game for her safety. Paras and Rashami get into a major confrontation as he questions her on why she and Devoleena wanted to draw the game. Major trust issues creep in thus changing the dynamics again.

Daily chores has been a major issue since day 1. Not everyone has been able to adjust with doing odd jobs.

Asim who’s been told many times to switch his bathroom duty with Paras has always shown disagreement. Mahira is quick to point his negligence and raises her voice too. This goes a notch higher when Paras and Shefali get themselves involved while Aarti steps in to support Asim. An agitated Aarti, once again attacks Rashami and states how they have to eat the same food for two days because she is not making it in the right quantity.

Everyone’s hoping they’re the best in the game and are playing smart but today will decide who really is playing smart and who isn’t. A special ranking task has been organised and during the task, contestants have to rank each other on a scale of 1 to 9, the first round was based on ‘Doghla contestants’ and second round was on who is the most deserving contestant to stay in the house and 9 the least deserving. This task too leads to a lot of angst and arguments among the contestants but they unanimously try and come to a conclusion. Unknown to them, their actual fate and ranking are being monitored by the wildcard contestants, Shefali Jariwala, Tehseen Poonawalla and Khesari Lal Yadav.

Bhaidooj is very important for Urvashi and this bhaidooj she wanted to spoil her brother Yashraj Rautela, who is a pilot and lives in Portugal, with expensive gifts and lots of food. Urvashi gifted her brother a ‘Harley Davidson fatbob’ Bike as a Diwali and a bhaidooj gift which was a surprise for him.

Speaking about the same, Urvashi said, “My brother has the best sister in the world (giggles). Actually we hardly meet in a year, and this bhaidooj I was really missing him. I wanted to surprise him with something he loves and I knew Harley Davidson would definitely spark his eyes. It’s not only about gifts, but it’s also about the love, quality time that we get to share in bhaidooj. Every year I wait for this day to annoy my brother first and then spoil him with gifts.”

Urvashi is right now busy with promotions at the work front. She is promoting her upcoming comedy film ‘Pagalpanti’ along with actors Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Ileana Dcruz, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda. The film is releasing on 22nd November 2019.

Shakib Al Hasan banned for two years under ICC Anti-Corruption Code

The Bangladeshi cricket team’s captain, Shakib Al Hasan has been handed over a two-year ban from all forms of cricket by ICC for failing to report multiple approaches made by a bookie. A year of this punishment was suspended after he accepted three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

ICC, during the course of interviews with Shakib, earlier this years found two different instances of bookie contact over WhatsApp. The first one in mid-November 2017 before the tri-series between Bangladesh, Srilanka, and Zimbabwe hosted by Bangladesh.

In January 2018, he participated in the said ODI tri-series, where he and Dinesh Aggarwal, the bookie, engaged in further WhatsApp conversations. On January 19, 2018, he received a WhatsApp message from Aggarwal congratulating him for being named man of the match in that day’s game. Aggarwal followed this message with one saying, “Do we work in this or I wait till the IPL”.

He got engaged in another conversation with the same bookie in January 2018, where the bookie asked information about the ongoing tri-series. Shakib confirmed being approached approach to him to provide inside information, saying “Bro anything in this series?”

Later, in April 2018, Shakib received another message from the same bookie while playing an IPL game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab. Aggarwal messaged him to check whether a particular player was going to be playing in the game that day, i.e. again asking for inside information.

Shakib continued to discuss bitcoins, dollar accounts and asked Shakib for his dollar account details. Though, he told Aggarwal that he wanted to “Meet him first”. During this conversation, there were a lot of deleted WhatsApp messages, which Shakib confirmed contained requests from Aggarwal for inside information.

Shakib failed to report all these instances to ACU or any other anti-corruption activity. An official ICC release stated the following as the charges against Shakib:

Article 2.4.4 – Failure to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations he received to engage in Corrupt Conduct – in relation to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe Tri-Series in January 2018 and / or the 2018 IPL

Alex Marshall, ICC’s general manager – integrity, said, “Shakib Al Hasan is a highly experienced international cricketer. He has attended many education sessions and knows his obligations under the Code. He should have reported each of these approaches. Shakib has accepted his errors and cooperated fully with the investigation.”

Shakib, who is one of the premier Bangladeshi players and is among their all-time greats, is currently at No. 3, No. 1 and No. 2 in the ICC allrounders’ rankings for Tests, ODIs and T20Is respectively.

He will be available to play any form of cricket after 29 October 2020 and will not be available to play in the upcoming all-important India-Bangladesh series as well as the World T20 to be held in Australia next year.

The Indian series was already under a lot of doubts after the recent strike by the cricketers seeking a pay hike. BCB President Najmul Hussain said that he was only made aware of the incident by Shakib after the players’ strike was withdrawn, and informed the board about the punishment after the announcement. Meanwhile, Momin-Ul Haque has been appointed as the captain of the Test team. Other senior players like Masharfe Murtaza and Tamim Iqbal have already chosen not to play for the country in the series.

With the festive vibes taking over the house, all the contestants are decked up in their best Diwali attire  to greet superstar host of Bigg Boss, Salman Khan. Glowing with a happy mood they wish Salman a very happy and prosperous Diwali, oblivious of what’s in store for them.An explosive Weekend Ka Vaar awaits them which is definitely going to change the game. For better or worse? Only time will tell.

And it all begins with, Salman Khan, sardonically praising  the contestants for delivering an outstanding performance in the past week and making him, the viewers, their relatives and everyone immensely proud. Sarcastically, again, he also makes a remark on their language, calling it excellent and full of respect. Getting a hint from Salman’s mood regarding discontinued tasks, grievances and unreasonable allegations, the contestants knew karma is going to hit back.

While contestants like Shefali and Sidharth Dey face Salman’s wrath for disrespecting Shehnaz and stooping to a level which is unacceptable, the others too are reprimanded for their mistakes. Disappointed with Shefali, Salman questions her about ridiculing Shenaz’s character, further losing his calm when she tries to defend Siddhartha Dey. Expressing strong objection against the words used by Siddhartha Dey during the task, Salman didn’t spare him either. Closed for any kind of explanations, Salman was astonished to see the other women unaffected, when one was being character shamed in the house. Fingers are raised on Paras too, when Salman upfrontly asks him about the issues he has with him, advising him to change his attitude.

To lighten the atmosphere the winner of Bigg Boss season 6, Urvashi Dholakia and her co-contestant Sana Khan make a grand entry into the  house. Surprising the contestants and making sure their Diwali is worth it, they kickstart some Diwali preparations together and play fun games. Dividing the contestants into two groups – one Captained by Urvashi & the other by Sana, the two get the contestants to do a task that included ‘decorating diyas’ and ‘making sweets’. Both the teams had to do their best in both rounds to win the prize.

When one gets off track from reality, a reality check is much needed. To give them a taste of it Salman skipped the shower task this week and replaced it with ‘Thappad’, also because the contestants were beautifully dressed for Diwali..

Reminding the viewers that they will soon witness double the drama, Salman reveals two wild card contestants  who will be entering the house next week and taking the game to a new level.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s international cricket career seems to be over now. There have been innumerable rumours around his retirement from the national side.

While fans and administrators have no clue what the Ex. Indian cricket captain thinks about his cricketing plans, the man himself has not revealed anything about this future. He had made himself unavailable for selection after India’s exit from the 2019 ICC cricket world cup. He has already retired from tests long back.

Now, if reports are to be believed, BCCI has made up its mind not to select Dhoni in the playing eleven and has ‘already moved on”. Though, the selection committee is open for his return only for his “Farewell series”.

Recently, the newly elected BCCI boss, Saurav Ganguly called Dhoni a champion player said:

“You know champions don’t finish quickly. I don’t know what’s in his mind and what he thinks about his career. So we will deal with that you know. He is one of the greats of the game and India is proud to have MS Dhoni over a period of time. If you even sit down and take a note of what he has done, you say, ‘Wow, MS Dhoni’,” Ganguly said.

After opting out from being selected, right after the world cup exit, Dhoni has served the Indian Army and had back out of all the upcoming series. There are some reports that now he is getting ready to train with Jharkhand U23 team to gain fitness.

Recently, MSK Prasad, Chief of selection committee also said that they’ve “moved on” and are looking to invest in youngsters. He mentioned that they have spoken to Dhoni and he is also of the opinion that it is the right time to groom youngsters.

The team had thus experimented with Rishabh Pant, however, he was severely criticized for his reckless attitude and missed chances both behind and in front of the wicket. For the South Africa series, Wriddhiman Saha was preferred over Pant and he impressed everyone with his keeping skills, once again. However, age is not in his favour.

Though Pant has been picked up for the upcoming Bangladesh’s India tour, selection of Sanju Samson also hints that the board is now looking for other options apart from Pant.

It is yet to be seen what Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of the greatest ever to play for India, has planned for himself, the chances of the 38-year-old cricketer donning the national jersey ever again are becoming bleak.

DLF Mall of India becomes World's 1st mall to be certified with 'LEED Platinum'

Reality giant DLF’s Noida based shopping mall ‘Mall of India’ becomes the first mall in the world to receive a ‘LEED Platinum’ certification from United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The retail project was accredited with this accolade from USGBC under Existing Building Operation and Maintenance category (EBOM), the the company announced in a statement.

DLF Mall of India is the largest mall of India spread in 2 million sq. ft. and the first mall in the world to receive this green certification which is conferred to buildings, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.

USGBC started the LEED certification for Retail segment which is a green certification under EBOM category around 8 months ago, which is awarded to the ones whose work is helping to expand sustainability in the retail sector.

World Polio Day: What is Polio & How India became Polio-Free?

World Polio Day is observed across the world on 24 October every year to raise awareness about the polio disease and measures to eradicate it. World Polio Day was started by Rotary International over a decade ago to observe the birth of Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a vaccine against poliomyelitis. Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) in 1988 and by 2013, had successfully reduced polio worldwide by 99%.

What is Polio?

Poliomyelitis (Polio) is a paralyzing and potentially fatal viral contagious disease that still threatens children in some parts of the world.

There are three subtypes of poliovirus PV1, 2 and 3 responsible for causing Polio and any of them is equally capable of infecting the child and hence it is very important to develop immunity against all three types in order to prevent the disease.

Poliovirus is the virus responsible for causing Polio. The virus invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis even in few hours. The initial symptoms include fever, headache, weakness, vomiting and toughness in neck and limbs.

Though, Poliovirus can affect people of any age but majorly affects children under five. Though Polio is not curable but it can be prevented by vaccines. Unlike most diseases, polio can be eradicated.

Polio Vaccine:

Polio vaccine is very effective in developing immunity to the body from poliovirus and protection from paralytic polio. Dr. Albert Sabin developed the first Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) in 1961. Currently, there are two types of polio vaccine namely Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) and Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV).

Oral polio vaccine (OPV) is given at the age of six weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks with booster doses at 16 months and 24 months of age. OPV is further divided into two types called trivalent and divalent. Trivalent contains all the 3 types of poliovirus while divalent contains only two of the three types of poliovirus. As of 2016, the oral polio vaccines are majorly divalent since PV2 poliovirus has been eliminated from across the world.

Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) is an injectable vaccination containing dead viruses and is given at the age of 6 months and 14 months on the upper arm. It consists of the all three serotypes of polio virus. After two doses IPV, and approx. 99% are immune to polio virus following three doses.

Polio vaccine, if given multiple times in proper schedule, almost always protects a child for life against polio. Hence, the strategy to eradicate polio is based on preventing infection by immunizing every child until transmission stops and the world becomes polio-free.

How India a became a Polio-Free Nation?

In India, Polio was a common disease and large number of children suffered from this disease until the government in 1985, launched the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) to cover all the districts of the country in order to eradicate the disease. Later, in 1995 following the footsteps of World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative India launched its pilot Pulse Polio immunization program with Universal Immunization Program that aimed at 100% coverage and eradication of Polio. Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan volunteered with the campaign in all media platforms like TV, print and radio spots to educate people about Polio and urged them to vaccinate their children in time. Earlier, Government of India (GOI) had also launched many programmes such as “Do Boond Zindagi Kay” and “Polio Sunday” to deal with the serious problem.

According to Global Polio Eradication Initiative reports, India constituted over 60% of total global polio cases as recently as 2009 and keeping in mind the vast population of India but with its sheer dedication, commitment and simply doubling down on immunization activities, India was able to fight the disease successfully.

March 24, 2014 India was officially declared polio-free, along with the rest of the South-East Asia Region by the World Health Organization (WHO). The last cases of polio in India were reported in West Bengal and Gujarat on 13 January 2011. And now we are celebrating a polio-free World Polio Day 2019.

TikTok appoints Nikhil Gandhi as India Head

China based ByteDAnce owned social media platform TikTok has appointed Nikhil Gandhi as its India Head. Gandhi is the Ex- President and COO of Times Network and will lead the development of TikTok’s products and operations in India.

In his new role as India Head, Gandhi will be focusing majorly on stirring creativity among TikTok’s users along with achieving a broader positive impact in the country. His other major priority will be to promote key initiatives of the App, such as #EduTok, that benefit the community at large.

“I am excited to be part of TikTok’s journey in India at a time when it is strengthening its overall presence in the country and building a platform that enables creative expression. I am looking forward to working with the team to build a platform that adds value to India’s growing digital community, every day,” Gandhi said in a statement.

Earlier this year, TikTok started monetising its app in India and found it potentially fery useful to attract consumer and internet brands looking to reach TikTok users in smaller towns and villages in India.

The short-video Chinese App has gained immense popularity in India since its launch in late 2017 and is giving tough competition to other major social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. TikTok has over 200 million users in India at present. The popular App is also facing challenges from the government side with respect to awkward content on its platform and alleged data sharing with China.
