so this is a question i have bc i keep seeing people say different things in different recaps of last night’s ep: is Talbot still being mind controlled? some people are saying that he’s done this out of his own free will: he went, wow everything is going to shit and this might help, and walks into the machine but others are saying that he’s still under the hydra brainwashing and that was kinda their backup, like if none of their planned trained people can become the destroyer of worlds we’ll have some random brainwashed people available to be able to do it if necessary i just,,,, really need to know if talbot did this of his own free will essentially sacrificing himself trying to do some good and ends up becoming the unstable villain Graviton... or if he’s not in control and that’s the plan

Philinda-nalysis 5x19

I am on mobile and unable to gif for a week, but here’s my post-ep rant, which has somehow become tradition and a necessary coping mechanism:

1. Philinda are married, that’s it, its official. If the ‘we’re not airing our dirty laundry’ chat wasn’t proof enough, we now have the ‘you always listen to the full menu!’ argument 👌🏼

2. May’s argument with Elena over the ‘Coulson needs to die’ reveal was great. The way her voice almost broke, how much she needs to believe that they can save him - afkdjfjgk my heart hurts 😭

3. ‘If you need one, you’ll take one, right? Take this one’ - Phil knows his wife May so well! And he is not letting her be killed by aliens before he tells her he loves her.

4. ‘I know now might not be the best time—‘ ‘it’s NOT’ - I LOVED this, but again, Coulson does not know how to pick his moment. First he tries in a corridor before a mission, now during a fight where they are about to die horribly 🤦🏻‍♀️ just leave a lemon on her bunk! At this point its your best option, you dork!

5. Graviton Talbot taking Coulson away - NO! Damn it! There are 3 episodes left, we don’t have time for more separations!!

In not-Philinda-related news:

1. Daisy digging up Jaying’s grave because she’s the missing ingredient to keep Coulson alive 👌🏼 I didn’t see that coming, and it’s an excellent call back to earlier seasons/garret/the deathlock program.

2. Graviton - ok, no, i didn’t see this coming and yes, i really like the idea of Talbot becoming such a big player, BUT we could honestly have had less Ruby/Werner/repetetive FS torture and gotten to this quicker - We’ve only got 3 episodes left this season and SO MUCH to unpack!

3. I really liked that Mack is genuinely upset with Elena and didn’t just back down when she was trying to reason with him - he has a good reason to be angry, and he isn’t willing to compromise his views or beliefs just because the person he loves did. I like this take on the ‘you’re allowed to disagree with the person you love, and be angry and unwilling to compromise’ take on them. I feel its an important contrast to FS (don’t shoot me!)

4. I’m getting really tired of this take on Deke. There is so much potential for his character and his relationship with FS, but he (and the relationship) are just being used as comic relief and its annoying me now.

Honestly, I was expecting Daisy, Ruby, or Hale to be The Destroyer of Worlds. Talbot wasn’t even on my radar. 2018 is turning out to be the year of random plot twists.

Daisy’s really gonna dig up her own mother’s body, her mother who tried to kill her and was killed by her insane father, to try and use the inhuman healing power in her mom’s DNA to make a serum that will save Coulson’s life, her adopted father figure, who’s already died once and was brought back against his will and is prepared to die again and is going to be cured against his will… again… this show is off the rails

so what you’re telling me is that ruby, who was quite literally born to be the destroyer of worlds and trained her entire life for it couldn’t handle absorbing a measly 8% of the gravitonium and went legit crazy because of it yet glenn talbot, who doesn’t have nearly as much training and already has a traumatic brain injury was somehow able to withstand absorbing 100% of the gravitonium and can magically control it perfectly? um. sure.
