let me say something about grant and women’s sports that I don’t think many people know. he traveled to spain earlier this year to interview barca’s women’s team. he got long and very productive quotes from the team’s best players. he could’ve stopped there, he already had the story. but no, he stayed, he interviewed pretty much every single player there. and then he transcribed/asked the for translation of every single interview, even though he already knew he wasn’t gonna use some parts.

wanna know why? because he said they took the time to talk to him even if they didn’t have to, so the least he could do was to return the favor and go through every single thing they said. that’s respect. both to the women he interviewed and the profession.

in a world of glorified bloggers and people who rush to post breaking news on social media, he took the time to write actual stories with real sources. he took the time and actually invested in women’s football. he focused on everything and everyone, not just the stars. he treated everyone with the respect they so rightfully deserved.

one thing i hate about these situations is that it's the exact same every time. a victim comes forward with an accusation, every inch of their life is dragged through the court of public opinion, the man has his loser stans sticking up for him for literally no reason, other men see it as a chance to get off their little Is Rape Real? Or Are All Women Just Lying Evil Whores? thinkpieces, rival fans see it as a fun gotcha to use against the club, the man who did it gets a slap on the wrist and is able to come back like a year later if even. rinse repeat every single time

the uk government is trying to scrap the human rights act.

i’ve not seen a lot in the media about this so i’m going to do my best to put this into words and explain what will happen if the government is successful in replacing the human rights act with the rights removal bill.

this will mean that in the uk:

you won’t be allowed to say anything negative about the government

if you are disabled or chronically ill, you won’t be allowed to say no to being given a DNR in hospital

you won’t be allowed to bring ‘trivial’ human rights violations to court

public authorities (the police) won’t have to actively protect people’s human rights

the uk military will be allowed to basically do whatever they want overseas

if you ever commit a crime, they can disregard your human rights

the government will not be obligated to obey human rights
