sunny had a rare day off, and she made sure that it was a full day off. no editing to catch up, no answering emails or calls from clients. she had too much to do today to open her laptop and edit, she went to new york city in the morning and enjoyed herself and met up with friends and then came home and ran errands until she wound up at the coffee shop. it was pushing dinner time and she knew she should be getting up to get something to eat or text avery and see if he ordered or made anything. as she was standing to leave she saw matt come in. “hey, stranger!”

“i have enough problems. i don’t need to add cigarettes and lung cancer or gum disease to that list.” ly smirked. almost everyone knew what his problems were. but many didn’t. which he liked. sure, he sold and did drugs but he wanted a better reputation than that! while not trying to fix his life in the slightest. “it was pretty good. spent time with my mom. got a new salt and pepper shaker. it was lit. you?”

Any look of sadness, especially feigned ones, never lasted more than a few seconds as a wide smile quickly replaced her expression. There was almost a giddiness to the way she spoke, standing in front of the blonde’s doorway. “Look — you’re the one who said we should do something fun every weekend and I’m just being a good friend in making sure that happens! So will you just grab an extra change of clothes already and follow me without asking questions about what might or might not happen tonight? “no, i can’t just pack a change of clothes and follow you and not ask questions. that’s-- that’s crazy. i’m adventures., c. but i’m not that adventures. i have work due and things i need to be at.” sunny continued to ramble on about her work load. one what was too much for just one person but she made it work. she had to. in a way it was filling void, making her sadness disappear as she got more and more work to focus on. was it healthy? no. but was it helping?.... maybe? “we can do anything that will just be one night. dinner. wine and painting. pottery. something where i don’t need to worry about changing.”

     “no, please —by all means, choose something slower,” jed remarked, his tone nothing if not playful, as further evidenced by the lopsided half-grin he offered his companion on the opposite end of the sofa. with the other’s indecisiveness over netflix selections, he’d taken to mindlessly scrolling through his notes of scrambled thoughts on his phone. “at this rate, i’ll only be 80-years-old by the time we actually get to watching anything.”

“hey, why don’t you shut the fuck up, bro.” ly said sarcastially, as he continued to scroll through the selections. “why don’t you pick if you think you can do better job, huh?” he was going between shows and movies, never sticking to just one genre, reading the plots and taking netflix just a little too intensely. “you will not! stop being so dramatic.”

it was far and away from a perfect day. not only was the weather gloomy, something that sawyer hated in may, but work seemed to be killing him. he was supposed to have traveled all around town to meet with fellow musicians, however new york had different plans. the subway had stalled, his uber couldn’t locate him, and of course there was traffic the moment he entered his cab. so, when the end of the day finally came, it was relief. as sawyer approached the outside of his apartment building, he pulled out a cigarette before turning to the familiar face that stood near him. extending his hand, the man flashed his pack of marlboros,“want one?”

ly had spend the day enjoying his mothers company and spoiling her with a day full of her favorite things. she was going to be traveling on mothers day and he wanted to make sure he saw her before rather than later, mostly because he knew he was never going to hear the end of it if he didn’t. he had been home for about an hour by the time he decided to get some air and go outside. that’s when he saw sawyer. “no i don’t smoke those.”

“ —– 𝐖𝐎𝐖. you sure can complain a lot. ” one thing the brunette couldn’t stand were people that took everything too serious. especially at a party. a place, where they should learn how to loosen up & have fun. how to not worry about every little detail. and apparently the blonde infront of her didn’t know how to do such things. “ listen, i won’t force you to drink anything. but from the looks of it, you SERIOUSLY need it. & man, it’s   𝓫𝓾𝓵𝓵𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓽  that people that smoke die quicker of lung cancer than people who don’t. my grandma even smoked till she was 90. & damn, that woman was healthy. so, chill out. it’s just a little smoke. ” but a smile still was placed upon her lips as the other one still took the drink. at least something. quickly natasha reached over to the bar ( obviously she was standing right next to it because that was just her favorite place ) and ordered another drink for herself. there shouldn’t even be a second where she wasn’t holding a glass with her favorite liquid.

“i don’t complain a lot.” the blonde said, scrunching her nose up at the other woman. “sorry i don’t want to die a terrible death? or drink myself silly today?” sunny didn’t understand how not wanting to drink or have smoke blown in her face made her a buzzkill of sorts? she just wanted to have fun without getting completely intoxicated she couldn’t remember anything. “how do i look like i need to drink?” she would still consider herself a mess, but she never tried to look like she was an actual mess. sunny took a slow sip of her drink. “well. that’s obviously not the case for everyone.”
