Need motivation? Do you feel like you are stuck being broke? And that you don't have the money to do things you enjoy. I can relate. Wiz Khalifa could also relate in his early age. Wiz Khalifa grew up poor but he worked hard and now look at him making millions. I am motivated by the words he raps in his song, “Work Hard Play Hard.” Having a lot of money is having a lot of power, voice, influence, and opportunities. Therefore, by listening to this song I automatically become motivated.
Wiz Khalifa’s father left him and his mother right after he was born and joined the military, in “Work Hard Play Hard” he raps, “And I work hard, go harder, no father, no problem.” Those words motivate me more than any of the others in the song because I know what it’s like to have an absent father. Wiz Khalifa did not let his family struggles or being poor stop him from achieving his goals.
When hearing Wiz Khalifa rap about getting money and getting the things that he has always wanted to have, it seems more tangible for me to do the same. On days when I feel the drive to do nothing but sit around and complain about things I don’t have, I listen to “Work Hard Play Hard” and I become reassured that I can and will fulfill my potential.
Because I am motivated by money I am a superficial, stuck up, and self centered person? I would like to disagree. You need more than just love to survive.
Work hard in order to play hard.
Balance.

HAHAHAHAAH this is cute/funny
This song is shocking and original because who would ever think of singing about Friday? And how horrible it is but yet so catchy is why it’s shocking. It’s also really original because people never think to sing about a day when songs are normally about love or a bad break up not a day of the the week.

Miley Cyrus is amazing, she has a long list of original songs. One of my favorite original songs by Miley Cyrus is linked with this post. Her lyrics tell the story of her life. I love the emotion and personality that comes with her original songs.

This is so interesting. I have never taken the time to look closely at insects, they seem so small and irrelevant. I have just viewed them as these creepy creatures, but they are so much more. Looking closely you notice all of the color insects have. Also their fur and or outer shell consist of many different tones of coloring. Looking at the top picture I noticed the detailing in what I thought were just glossy black eyes. Turns out this insect's eyes are made up of main dot like specs. By looking this closely to different insect you can see how complex they are, like a machine. The insects have many different colors, parts, functions, and abilities. It's horrible yet amazing how I have looked passed the beauty of insect my whole life.

Yudy Sauw’s beautiful bug faces.

Tannen
In the conclusion paragraph Tannen makes the assertion that women are always marked for everything they do, while men on the other hand are not. Tannen says men are only marked if they choose to be otherwise men have the freedom to be unmarked. I disagree with her assertion on men, but agree with her assertion on women. Men are defiantly marked as a pretty boy, successful business man, star athlete, or something else, the list goes on. Men choose what to wear just like women do. I believe people will make judgments and mark both sexes. It's no lie that women are marked also. More than men women are marked on what they do. If a woman is more successful than her husband people will mark her. If she dresses a certain way people will mark her. If a woman believes in a certain idea people will mark her. Traditionally, women are suppose to be silent and just go with what their husband does, to see a modern woman accomplish big things is not "normal" for a lot of people. Overall I think it's natural for us to mark one another. In my life I am marked based off of what I wear, say, my parents income, and my grades. Sometimes the pressure of living up to or stepping out of the marks does get to me. But most of the time my marks encourage me to prove myself. Are marks a bad thing? In this essay Tannen makes them seem that way but I disagree.
These pictures are from my favorite book. They show that both sexes are marked on how they choose to dress. I believe clothing tells a lot about a person.

Stereotypes
I am often stereotyped as a rich, spoiled, shopaholic, bitchy, white girl, due to the way I dress. I love fashion; I love the feelings of putting together a great outfit, wear an trendy outfit, and feeling put together. I do have a lot of designer labels in my wardrobe, but with that being said I am not going out everyday buying them. My family members would tell you I am not stupid when it comes to money. I am grateful for what I have and like to pay for things on my own. My parents are successful, which I look at as a blessing. It bothers me when people come up to me and call me rich because they don't go up to someone and call them poor.. I find it to be rude and classless. Also just because I dress a certain way and I am white doesn't mean I am a bitch. Teachers make reference to me going shopping and it makes me feel as if they are lowering my intelligent level. When my classmates say I am rich I hate it, I personally have such a small amount of money. The money they are labeling me as is all my parents. It just sucks when a hobby such as fashion can make people believe you are a spoiled bitch... I truly don't think I am a bitch. By wearing things from Louis Vuitton, Burbury, Tory Burch, Chanel ect. I build walls around me, which is hurtful to think about.

Staples vs. Shelly
My group talked about how Frankenstein and black people are both seen as scary monsters. Mimi brought up the great idea that in Shelly's writing the black man is seen as a figurative monster, due to stereotypes. I believe due to the media and the facts of crime rates people view black men as a monster. I looked up the crime rates and the percentage of races in prison and blacks hold the highest. (I am defiantly not racist, I'm just saying what the data I found proved) The female in Shelly's story did run which was the extreme action to take, but I can't really blame her. Staples' writing includes a real physical monster that harmed people. All in all, as a human being we make judgments on people naturally and sometimes we don't even realize we are doing it. I believe we formulate these judgments due to the household we were raised in, the city we were raised in, our friends, the media, and off of stories we have heard. Judgments will always be made by people.

Other Works Part 6 Change
The essay I was using for my last source is very well written but lacks information to be a promising source. With that being said, I have changed it to the movie The Last Song. This is one of my favorite movies which shows how important father-daughter relationships are. This relates to O'Kelly's daughters while he was ill and after he passed.

Other Works Part 3 Change
I was using a quote as my third works. I realized that I need a better source for the paper. I changed my source to a short story by Christine Ratliff, titled Overcoming Death: One Mother's Story. This story related to the message and emotions of my book, Chasing Daylight.

This is an essay about accepting family death. I chose to use this because I felt it expresses O'Kelly's daughters feelings. First hand I know how hard death can be, I enjoyed the emotion in this essay.

This article explores the pressure and stress a CEO feels. O'Kelly was the CEO of a major firm, he was always working. This article gave me insight on his job and how he must of felt. O'Kelly lived such a crazy busy life, when diagnosed he had to stop everything that was normal for him.

Other works part four
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/30/books/30masl.html?_r=0 This article talked about Gene O'Kelly and the book. The author Janet Maslin refers to Chasing Daylight as, "A common-sense guidebook on how to die." Which is complete agree; this book wasn't about his life or events it was about how to die. I wanted to use a review/insist article for my other works because of the opinion the author provides.

Other works part 3
Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there's a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see. Helen Keller I find this quote to be extremely fitting to O'Kelly's life. He and Keller looked a death as a simple thing, the passing from one room to another. O'Kelly's illness had caused his eye sight to be pretty bad and he wasn't able to see everything he had to feel it. Helen Keller couldn't see either. One the other side are they both with perfect eyesight? Who knows.

Reading the works part six
The last part of this book is written by Corinne O'Kelly. It explores Eugene's death. He said death is peaceful and not to be afraid. He was prepared to die, and in a way happy to live again. His death was obviously hard on his wife and kids but Corinne explains they are doing alright. Eugene left a lasting impact on the world and his legacy will remain. His funeral was beautiful and exactly what he explained he wanted early in the book. Chasing Daylight began peacefully and ended peacefully yet was about death.

Reading the work part five
O'Kelly completes radiation and his tumors have shrunk, a little. The family took a trip to their Lake Tahoe home, he is happier than ever. There he decided that he wants his ashes spread upon the water of Emerald Bay. The spend this part of the book with friends and family saying goodbye and enjoying what he could. This is the last of the book written by Eugene O'Kelly, his wife had to finish it due to him being ill. I'm interested to read her part and finish it.

Reading the work part four The book is slowly coming to an end. O'Kelly now is unwinding his relationships and preparing himself for a peaceful death. This is a diagram he drew, he started from the outside and worked his way I'm with goodbyes. This books makes you think about who you would want to say goodbye to and how. Relationships are everything in live. O'Kelly shares some of the goodbye letters he wrote. He is bringing his life to a closure.
