v National Science Olympiad 2022 Registration Open
Students are required to fill the NSO Application Form 2022 available on the official website. national science olympiad
Ø Steps to fill the application form are as follows:
Ø Visit the official website of NSO i.e. www.sofworld.org.
Ø Then go to the home page of the official website and click on the application form link and open it to fill it.
Ø Remember to fill the application form carefully without any errors.
Ø Verify and double check the important details that you have filled amd make sure they are correct.
Ø Finally click on the submit button.
Ø Take a print out of the application form and keep it for personal use.
v NSO Eligibilty Criteria
All students from Classes 1-12 are eligible for the National Science Olympiad.
NSO is conducted at Levels 1 and 2. The exam is conducted at two levels. Level 1 is conducted for all students in classes 1 to 12.
The participants of NSO are ranked on the basis of marks obtained in first level. After attending the first level of the test, students can evaluate themselves at four different levels- within the school, at city level, at state level and above all at International level on an academic basis. Students who qualify for the 2nd level exam include:
(a) Top 5% of students class wise, who appear for the 1st level exam,
(b) State wise top 25 rank holders class wise, and
(c) Class topper from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores 50% qualifying marks.
Students from classes 1 and 2 are not expected to appear for the 2nd level exam. They are ranked based on their performance in the first level exam. NSO is a single level exam for Class 1&2. Students can register for the same through their respective schools. Over lakhs of students register for NSO each year.
Only the registered schools can apply for National Science Olympiad. Schools have to allot a convenient date for the exam and register for it 30 days prior to the date of the exam.
Students also can register for the SOF NSO exam from their concerned schools. Every school need at least 10 registrations to conduct the NSO. Students are not eligible to register for the exam individually.

v NSO Application Fee:
There are numerous schools across India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal that register for SFO every year. Each student has to pay the SOF registration fee that amounts to Rs 125 (inclusive of all taxes). However, schools may charge an additional of Rs 25 per student towards honorarium of in charge, remuneration to teachers to guide and teach and other expenditures.
Therefore, Students can register for SOF NSO 2022 by completing the application form and submitting it along with the registration fee of Rs. 125.
Differently abled applicants and those Indian students whose parent was martyred during defense operations are exempted from registration fee. The registration fee will be US$9 for applicants from foreign countries.
v NSO Admission Process 2022
The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) releases the prospectus of SOF NSO 2022 to all the registered schools. The prospectus comprises the registration form of the students. The interested students of the participating schools are required to fill the form and submit the completed form along with the application fees to the SOF. It is mandatory for every school to have at least 10 students registered for the exam.
v NSO Exam Pattern
The NSO examination will be conducted in the respective school itself. Due to the pandemic, the NSO was conducted at the residence of every student last year.
Regarding the timing, it is up to the schools to decide the convenient time for the exam.
The students from Class 1 to 4 have a precise collection of questions categorized into 3 sections:
o Logical reasoning
o Science
o Achiever’s section.
The questions are objective in type and contains a total of 35 questions. The allotted time for this test is 60 minutes. Logical reasoning and basic science carry questions of one mark each. And the Achievers section carriers 2 marks questions each. There will be no negative marking.
The same pattern is repeated for classes 5 to 10 but the number of questions are more. Instead of 35, there are 50 questions, and the questions from Achiever’s section carries 3 marks each while the questions from logical reasoning and basic science carry 1 mark each. The students are allotted one hour to complete the multiple-choice questions.
The NSO exam for Classes 11 and 12 consists of three sections - Chem/Phy, Maths/Bio and Achiever’s section. The duration of the test is 1 hour and students are required to attempt 50 questions. While the questions of Chem/Phy, Maths/Bio sections carry 1 mark each, each question in the Achiever’s section carries three marks.
