Expanding today, on a post from a few weeks back.
Few people are what they seem to be. They employ many deceptions to conceal their true nature, which is usually inimical to your interests. In friendships with narcissistic individuals who belittle, criticize, and browbeat others, this reality becomes starkly evident.
Such "friends" often mask their true selves to maintain dominance and control. Their behavior, rooted in insecurities, manifests as relentless criticism and aggression. These individuals crave validation and power, presenting an idealized version of themselves while undermining those around them.
This dynamic creates a toxic environment where genuine closeness is impossible. Their manipulations might prevent open conflict temporarily, but in the long run, they erode trust and lead to isolation. The act of concealing their true nature destroys the potential for a healthy relationship.
Recognizing these toxic patterns is crucial. Their deceptions are rarely benign; they protect fragile egos and maintain a facade of superiority. It’s essential to confront and address these behaviors to preserve one's well-being.
Sadly, the only viable solution in most cases is total detachment from such individuals. Continuously navigating their deceit corrodes self-esteem and emotional health. By distancing oneself from toxic relationships, one can foster genuine connections that nurture and sustain. Standing up against these paranoid, hate-driven bullies and choosing healthier interactions is essential for a fulfilling life. Show them the fucking door!

The Night On Bald Mountain sequence was cut from the film when originally released on video. When the sequence was shown in 1940 the studio was overrun with calls and letters from parents who complained that the sequence scared their children. It has since been restored to its original place in the film on subsequent home video releases.
