so. The Gumball Machine that Saves Miguel's Life. miguel's wished himself dead for a while, now; he can't tolerate the terrible approximation of a man he sees in his own reflection—the red eyes and clawed hands are the absolute least of it. for a while, he thinks... maybe he can make himself into someone he can stand, and find a cure for his condition.

then he learns that tyler stone is his father and all of that flies out the window. never mind spider-man; there is no cure for being miguel o'hara. there is no fixing this. this isn't worth it. he's begging at nothing to just let him die.

it's ambiguous as to when miguel gets his hands on the gumball machine. it's a rare find—xina herself says something like this is nigh-impossible to find. did he search for hours? did he go downtown to sift through old junk, now that he knows that the remains of the old world are the most intact underground? regardless of the answer, he goes back to her, armed with the knowledge that there is no cure for being him, there is no cure for being miguel o'hara, because some part of him decided that it was worth hanging on just a few moments more if it meant being able to tell her goodbye. this is for you. thank you. i'm sorry. i'm so sorry. this is for you. i hope this makes you smile. goodbye.

and in the end, miguel chooses to live—and not for any of the reasons that have kept him going since he became spider-man. not because of some imminent threat, not because he reached an epiphany about what he can make of his new reality, not because he's no longer terrified out of his mind—but because his best friend liked his present and asked him if he wanted to hang out.

Hey yeah, sorry! I kinda janked up my wrist drawing for like. 40 days in a row or whatever the hell I did so my hand's in kinda recovery mode kjldfs The last thing I did before I just couldn't do it anymore was some stuff thinking about his claws n junk so you can have this as a consultation prize BUT. by the time I can probably doodle again I'm sure the miguel craze is gonna pass and it's not like I'm making top tier content so WHO KNOWS what's to come!!
