05/01/23 - april reading wrap-up
I read 7 books last month. Here are my ratings, and a couple reviews.
1. The Feeling Of Falling In Love - Deaver, Mason | 5/5
I picked this up because it was labeled as a t4t romance, despite it being young adult (which I am trying to read less of). Very quick, easy read; I love the author's writing style and have read books of theirs before. Neil, the main male character, was well-developed and interesting, with flaws that contributed to the story and plot.
Would I read again?: probably not, but not because of anything wrong with the book. it's just one of those that you enjoy the most the first time.
2. & 3. Fence, Vol. #1-2 - Pacat, C.S. | 2/5
Would I read again?: no. dialogue was boring & characters were under-developed.
4. Things We Lost To The Water - Nguyen, Eric | 4/5
Beautiful, beautiful book. Ending was a bit confusing.
Would I read again?: yeah. i think it would make a bit more sense on a reread.
5. Nevada - Binnie, Imogen | 3/5
I wanted this to be good, so bad. And it was, to a point. However, the ending just.. didn't do it for me. The characters didn't learn anything, and all the conclusions that were being built up didn't go anywhere. I think that was kinda the point but still not for me.
Would I read again?: probably not.
6. Chew On This - Schlosser & Wilson | 3/5
Would I read again?: no. read it for school, no interest in the topic.
7. As The Shadow Rises - Pool, Katie Rose | 4.5/5
I love this series so fucking much. this is the second in the trilogy, and is just great. While I did enjoy the book, I have to say that some parts dragged on, and towards the middle/end I only really cared about what was happening to Anton and Jude. Some of the romances felt unnecessary, but that may be because I wasn't enjoying them as much. All in all, solid book.
Would I read again?: honestly, i don't know. i'll see how i feel after i finish the series.
