Messi And Ronaldo
Never before has there been such dissent in the football world. Ask any footballing expert who their favorite is, and you will never, ever reach a consensus. It is the never-ending argument that speaks volumes and goes beyond the sport. When the best Spanish teams, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, used to meet, the biggest subplot of the match was Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo. They have dominated world soccer for eight years. This essay’s main aim is to show how Messi and Ronaldo have changed the football world; it centers on how football was before Messi and Ronaldo, then transitions towards how these legends have changed the football world; their achievements and how they are performing in today’s day.
The Portuguese soccer player was born in the city of Funchal on February 5th 1985. The young player joined amateur youth team Andorinha when he was 8. He joined Nacional in 1995 and subsequently joined Sporting CP.
Messi was born on June 24th, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. A local club where his father coached him led him to play football at age 5. After moving to Newell’s Old Boys in 1995, he was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency at age 11. In 1996, Carles Rexach, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, saw the young player’s potential and offered him a trial with the club, offering to pay his medical bills if he moved to Spain. He moved to Barcelona with his father and enrolled in the club’s youth academy
Soon they became an inescapable nightmare for defenders! Jerome Boateng, one of the best defenders in the world, was humiliated by Messi. Messi was fast and controlled the ball well from close range. It’s impossible to defend against him.
In contrast, Ronaldo’s shots run right past goalkeepers; he’s scored every type of goal there is. Ronaldo’s knuckleball technique might be so lethal that many goalies have ended their careers due to their hand bones getting dislocated when Ronaldo shoots.
Throughout Leo’s illustrious career he has won numerous individual awards, such as 7 Ballon d’Ors, 6 golden shoes, 1 golden boy award, etc… At the club level he has won four Champions League titles, ten La Liga titles and seven Copa Del Rey awards. Additionally, he recently brought his country Argentina to be crowned as the Copa America champions!
However, Cristiano is no less successful, he has won five Champions League titles, three EPL titles, two La Liga titles, and one Serie A title across Europe. With five Ballon d'Or, three golden shoes, and one Puskas award, he comes closest to Messi on a personal level.
Messi’s shoulder drop never gets old. Even today, after years of Messi using this skill the defenders still get confused like Boateng’s legs, got tangled up because he got confused. And even today keepers are afraid of trying to save some of Ronaldo’s free kicks. Even with the emergence of young stars such as Mbappe and Halland, both are still among the best on the planet.
Having ruled the football world for years, both Messi and Ronaldo have made their names in the history of the ‘Beautiful Game’.
