NaNoWriMo Day 2 and 3
I made it through days two and three of NaNoWriMo. I hit the 10,000 word mark today in-between preparing and uploading the pre-order information/files for Dirty Talk Volume 2.
Tomorrow is create graphics for the pre-orders and hit at least 11,000 on my word count for November. Here’s to hoping that I can come up with marketing images that I like on the first or second try and not get sucked down the design rabbit hole. (There’s no guarantees on that and if you know me that won’t come as a surprise).
Release date has been updated on the events page if you’d like to check that out.
You’re going to want to read Hands of the Wolf, Friends with Benefits, and Window Washer in this volume. This installment of the series is about the same length as the first. A quick hot read.
Now let’s see if I can hit my goal of the last two volumes being out at end of year in-between working on the NaNoWriMo project, my horror series, regular adulting, Thanksgiving, et cetera. If you don’t hear from me for more than three days, send help and coffee, lots of coffee.

Day 1 of NaNoWriMo is in the books!
November is finally here and my yearly NaNoWriMo journey has begun. Every year during the month of November people around the world dedicate themselves to a month of writing while participating in sprints, writing groups, and all things writing related in the hopes of writing 50,000 words in a single month. A novel length project. Their opus. Some will finish and some won’t. I personally have participated for years and have some wins and losses in the books. This year seems different though.
Usually on the first day of the month I spend the majority of it organizing and shifting things around, staring at a blank page and wondering what the hell I’m doing. It never fails. That is how I start the month. This time was different. Today I decided to attend a virtual kick-off party and write-in. Something that I have never done before. Today I wrote 8,604 words. Today I got the spark back that had been missing.
Today was a win and I hope that tomorrow is too, but if it isn’t, that’s okay. Something I have learned during the COVID-19 pandemic is that I need to live each day as it’s my last. Do what I love. Show those that I love just how much. I learned to not take things for granted. I learned that tomorrow isn’t promised. I learned that when it’s my time to go, I don’t want to wonder about what could have been. (Wow, that got emotional really quickly).
Anyway, on a lighter note, there are badges you can earn when participating in NaNoWriMo and apparently I am motivated by badges, stickers, and gold stars. I don’t know why this comes as a surprise to me. I was that kid who got really, really upset if I didn’t have a full sticker chart in grade school for reading or being helpful. I was also the kid who ate free personal pan pizza’s for years thanks to the Pizza Hut Book It program. There was nothing more satisfying than filling the empty spaces for stars and then proudly presenting my stuff to the teacher and then the certificate at the restaurant. I still think that they need to adapt it for adults, but that’s an entirely different post.
More updates later in the week. For now, I wish you an amazing and safe week.

Author Spotlight - Blisse Wynters
October’s featured author is Blisse Wynters. An author who loves writing erotica with a criminal lean. And per her Twitter bio, she’ll have you on your knees, please. Bring along some whips, chains, and all sorts of things. She also loves kitties.
Check out the interview below to get to know this talented author.
Sayre: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Blisse: I first started telling stories when I was a single-digit me. At some point, it dawned on me that the stories my mom was reading to me were written by other people. Then I was hooked.
Sayre: How long does it take you to write a book?
Blisse: It depends on the length and the subject matter. When I'm writing mysteries under my other pen name, it takes me much longer to finish a story. Whereas with a shorter erotica it's about two months to draft and edit.
Sayre: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Blisse: Depends on the day. Drafting can be draining, but I'll still feel like I'm sparkling with happiness. I'll feel alive. With editing, that takes a lot more out of me. It's a much more exacting process. Drafting I'm telling the story to me, and editing I'm telling it for you.
Sayre: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Blisse: I have to preface this by saying. I don't think any of them are interesting. I have to have certain pens. My notepads that I use for all of my notes have to all have white pages, with primary colors for the covers. And I really prefer the keyboards that have a nice clicky clacky like a typewriter, but these days I go with the ones that are best for my wrists.
Sayre: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Blisse: Who knows where ideas come from? They could be a conglomeration of all the media that I've ever consumed, liquified, and shot out of my pen into a cacophony of sex, sleaze, and crime. It might be sparked by a neighbors argument or an old lover showing up one night with sad eyes and an even sadder tale. I suppose to sum it up, my ideas come from life.
Sayre: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
Blisse: I wrote my first manuscript in high school. It doesn't exist anymore. I wish it did, even though I"m sure it was terrible. I'd like to see the difference between now and then. I can't even remember what I wrote about at the time. Probably something terribly angst-ridden and full of sadness.
Sayre: What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Blisse: In the off-chance that I'm not writing, I'm spending time relearning my family's faces, playing video games, reading, and chatting way too much on Twitter.
Sayre: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer If so what are they?
Blisse: Read, read, read. Write, write, write. Edit, edit, edit. Get over the fear of letting other people read your work. Get a good group of beta readers, preferably people who aren't your close family and friends, and aren't afraid to tell you when you've missed the mark. And above all keep writing.
Sayre: What is your writing Kryptonite?
Blisse: Exhaustion, depression, and the weight of the world. When my mental health isn't good, then the writing doesn't flow the way it should. It's all interconnected.
Sayre: What other authors are you friends with and how do they help you become a better writer?
Blisse: Ava Fox keeps me honest and we keep our writing dates and we beta read each other's work. There's an amazing group of writers, simply called Smut Writers, who have been steering me in the right direction in the erotica world. But really, that's just a handful of people, who've supported me and have helped me in one way or another. You don't even have the time for me to go through them all. I'm a big believer in the power of community and I don't believe that we can't all achieve our own successes. Those are the kind of people I surround myself with.
Sayre: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?
Blisse: I had a terrible time with my editor and I learned a lot about what I should expect, how I should deal with certain situations, and what makes someone a good part of my team. It started me on a learning journey of what my process and how I work.
Sayre: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Blisse: Of course. I love to add a little Easter egg or two. It's fun for me and those who catch it.
Sayre: What does literary success look like to you?
Blisse: Literary success? The majority of people who are publishing aren't making a living. I want the room to grow, to change, to create work that I love, and to make money for my family to thrive. And I'd love to have a group of solid readers who are as invested in my stories as I am.
Sayre: Do you have any events or special things coming up?
Blisse: I'm not sure when this is launching, but I will be included in an erotica fairie tale anthology that's launching in February.
Sayre: Where can we find your books?
Blisse: Everything is under Kindle Unlimited https://www.amazon.com/Blisse-Wynters/e/B09DCZ92PQ I also have a Kindle Vella that's a few times a month https://www.amazon.com/Just-One-Night/dp/B09CLCHCTF And if you'd like to catch my short stories, I'm on Medium here https://blissewynters.medium.com/

Author Spotlight - Sal de Klerk
October’s featured author is Sal de Klerk, also known as The Salacious Scribe. Sal is a Navy vet, dad, dog lover and self-proclaimed sarcastic asshole according to his Twitter profile.
A new friend of mine in the author community, Sal is incredibly supportive and humble even if he does consider himself a sarcastic ass.
Check out his interview below.
Sayre: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Sal: 2004, after I published my first story and got positive feedback.
Sayre: How long does it take you to write a book?
Sal: I don’t write books. I stock with short stories. I can bang out a 5K word story in 1-2 days if my muse is in a good mood and I dint get interrupted. I once went 5 years between chapters of a serial.
Sayre: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Sal: Neither though I do some of my best writing when Im sleep deprived.
Sayre: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Sal: Sometimes I get so into my writing I put myself in the story and switch from 3rd to first person.
Sayre: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Sal: Most just pop into my head.
Sayre: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
Sal: I shared my first story in 2004. I wrote my first story in 3rd grade. Writing vocab words in sentences, was boring. So I would write a story using my vocab words one sentence per word. None if my teachers ever commented on it.
Sayre: What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Sal: Sleep, eat, walk my dog.
Sayre: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer If so what are they?
Sal: Write. Read. Write. Write some more. Read some more.
Sayre: What is your writing Kryptonite?
Sal: Twitter, and sloth.
Sayre: What other authors are you friends with and how do they help you become a better writer?
Sal: Don’t really have any friends.
Sayre: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?
Sal: I haven’t yet but am considering an anthology of my stories.
Sayre: Whats your favorite under appreciated novel?
Sal: Cosette it’s a sequel to Les Miserables and life after the barricade and Val Jeans death for Marius and Cosette.
Sayre: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Sal: Yes. I love to hide easter eggs. Every story has a reference to princess bride, and other pop culture references.
Sayre: What does literary success look like to you?
Sal: Having my name and work studied in literature classes in 2321.
Sayre: Do you have any events or special things coming up?
Sal: Not ATM.
Sayre: Where can we find your books?
Sal: You can find my writing on my website as well as the different erotica sites listed below.

Sneak Peek: Friends With Benefits
They had been friends for decades. He has always loved her. She just realized what she had in front of her.
She couldn't believe that he had remembered after all these years. Did this mean he was trying to impress her, or was it just coincidence? She scolded herself for trying to make something fit into her agenda. After all, he had said 'one of his favorite memories'. Maybe it was just that; a fond memory. The two of them settled in to watch the movie. Kari kicked off her pumps and sat with her long legs stretched out in front of her, and John couldn't help but notice how beautiful she was. Her shoulder-length chestnut hair was cut in a way that framed her slender face and brought attention to her blue-green eyes that had captivated him when they first met. Her legs were tan and toned, accentuated by her pencil skirt…
Now that she had confirmed his interest, it was time to explore each other.
She gently ran her fingers back and forth over the bulge in his pants, causing his cock to twitch and strain against the fabric. Her nipples hardening and pushing against the lace of her bra as lust overcame her. She wanted to take their relationship to the next level and he had just confirmed he felt the same way.

Desire
When I think of you my heart expands to full capacity
It fills with passion and desire
I quiver with the very thought of you kissing me
Touching me
Caressing my breasts
I find myself longing to be in your arms again
If only for a brief moment.

September is Chiari Malformation Awareness Month
Late in 2018 I went in for an MRI to rule out MS. That MRI came back with no lesions, but it did confirm what my doctor suspected; Chiari Malformation Type I. I had no clue what that was. It freaked me out. I was scared.
What is Chiari Malformation?
A Chiari malformation is a problem in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. This puts pressure on parts of the brain and spinal cord, and can cause mild to severe symptoms.
In plain English, that means that my brain is slowly but surely slipping into my spinal column. I may need brain surgery at some point, I may not. Either way, it’s a treatment and not a cure.
I could go on and on in this post trying to explain what I go through every day, but I’m going to try a different route. I am including downloadable PDF documents that have all the basic information you need. I’d love for this to be a conversation, so comments will be open on this post just like the others. If you have questions, please ask them and I would be happy to answer what I can.
Always,
Sayre

Author Spotlight - Vivian Murdoch
This months spotlight is a fellow erotica author Vivian Murdoch. With a backlist that will keep you busy for days, Vivian also has six, yes six, books available for pre-order, but we’ll get to that at the end. Right now, it’s time for the interview.
Sayre: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Vivian: I was writing poetry at age 6. Though I haven't written a full novel until last year, I'd been writing and working on things throughout my life.
Sayre: How long does it take you to write a book?
Vivian: If I'm not procrastinating, I can do about 50k in about 2 weeks. With procrastination, it seems to take about a month to a month and a half.
Sayre: Does writing energize or exhaust you?
Vivian: If it's flowing and moving, I can be at it for hours and not feel tired. If I'm stuck, it's so exhausting.
Sayre: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Vivian: Ugh. I can't seem to work well at home. I have to be at Panera Bread. As far as writing itself, my characters will literally argue with me. I don't expect half of what they do.
Sayre: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Vivian: I live the lifestyle. If it's in my book, I've most likely done. If I haven't, I'll try it. For science!
Sayre: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
Vivian: My first full-length came out last September. I was 35.
Sayre: What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Vivian: Animal Crossing. lol I also make my own swag, and it's really fun. I do also make jewelry and crafts like that.
Sayre: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer If so what are they?
Vivian: Distractions are the worst. Mute your phone, turn off facebook. Find what works for you and stick with it. Don't beat yourself up if you don't make a goal; just try again the next day.
Sayre: What is your writing Kryptonite?
Vivian: Taking on too much and getting overwhelmed. When I'm overwhelmed, I can't think.
Sayre: What other authors are you friends with and how do they help you become a better writer?
Vivian: My writing besties are T.L. Hodel and Dylan Page. They do sprints with me and help me keep calm while on the ledge.
Sayre: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?
Vivian: It showed me I need to plan waaaaaay more time for editing. It always takes longer than I anticipate.
Sayre: Whats your favorite underappreciated novel?
Vivian: My Dark Christmas Duet. They were sooooooo much fun to write, and I'm not sure if many people know about them.
Sayre: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Vivian: Oh yes *Cheshire grin*
Sayre: What does literary success look like to you?
Vivian: Right now, I would love to stop my day job. Once I'm pulling in enough to do that, I'll feel successful.
Sayre: Do you have any events or special things coming up?
Vivian: I do have a convention I'm going to be a part of in Montgomery Alabama. Capitol City Author even in May.
Sayre: Where can readers find you?
Vivian: You can find me in a few places.
