a good ship is always improved by having at least one other random character who is so so fucking mad that the ship is happening and is either seething about it or actively trying to break them up. i see the appeal of "everyone else played matchmaker and they're all cheering to see the ship holding hands!!" but i need at least one character, with any motivation, to be the world's pettiest hater about it come hell or high water. bonus points if the beef is completely onesided and they still get warmly invited to the wedding anyway

i think it would’ve been really interesting if in s6 of lost we’d been able to get sawyer and sayid having a meaningful conversation where they bonded over their grief and shared experience of the island taking away the women they love. i think there could have been something meaningful there that showed growth especially on sawyer’s part and also allowed them to connect in a way they never really did before. but no the writers decided s6 was time to fuck everything up

sayid is such an apathetic character and that really bugs me about him. its just. hes so uncaring. he doesnt care about how much pain hes caused. even when he tries to feel love its so apathetic and surface level. he never brings up shannon again did he even care??? i get you like him but i cant get behind his character im sorry :(

you know what you’re so right actually why DIDNT he bring up shannon he’s so selfish and he was obviously only into her because he was attracted to her (she was 21 btw like BARELY and he was almost 40 its giving pedo) he shows time and time again just how shallow he is because of all the women on the island he went after the youngest, thinnest blonde girl he could find and immediately tried to sleep with her all while he was in love with somebody else. Honestly, the shipwars over who is endgame or not in Lost leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

They seem to fail to see the beauty of season 6 finale. The fact is that they all needed to be reunited, together in the church, to be able to move on and start over, denoting that they ALL needed each other.

Jack's father explains it perfectly: you needed them (all of them) as much as they needed you. The people in the church were the most important people in each other's lives, and it would never have been the same if one of them had been missing. Love in this series is a universal theme, transcending labels: it can be familial, friendship, romantic, or a mix of things. And above all, there can be more than just one soulmate, and a soulmate can very well be more than just romantic. Do you think that Locke isn't Jack's soulmate just because they're not a romantic couple, just because they haven't reached the endgame level? Jack would never have gotten to that point and would never have completed his character development especially without Locke, and not being an endgame couple should not diminish the love that really exists between all the people in the church (I took Locke and Jack only as an example but I could also cite others, and I also think that platonic soulmates is a reductive description for them).

But yeah I think they are all soulmates. In different ways but they are.

I have my favorite ships too of course, I can also cheer for them too, but I think the theme of the found family is more important than these discussions about which relationship is the most special. All of them were special and important to each other. There's so much mutual love in the final scene, between all of them; they were all lost and lonely souls who were reborn thanks to these traveling companions. They all have a connection. And you can't say a couple doesn't have one just because it's not endgame. I think that bickering too much over shipwars makes us forget that the most canonical thing about Lost is that everyone loved each other and each filled the other's void.
