Story: Angels in Pajamas

Character: Jinx Johnson (JJ)

Jinx is 16, and completely human. He has four parents, and is an only child. He is autistic and has Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (he lives on sodium naproxen and acetaminophen and uses one biologic infusion to try to help things, but his body is stubborn, unfortunately).

He is also a nonbinary transmasculine person, though he knows his and uses just “trans” as it’s easier in a small New Mexico town. He likes some xenogenders and neopronouns, though I don’t know exactly what yet.

So, he started out with two parents as most do (Hank and Dieu), who later realized they are not straight and divorced, Hank ended up married to Antonio and sometimes partners with Dieu again, and Dieu married Terri. They all four live together with Jinx, two cats (Uhura and Riley), and tanks of fish, aquatic frogs, and land toads.

He is bullied at school, especially because no one knows he associates with Maggie (sports star) and he’s autistic and queer/has queer parents. He doesn’t interact with very many kids at school unless forced into a group project with some.

He prizes his pokemon merch collection, his truck (a light blue 90s Chevy pickup with a tow hitch), his medical gear (compression socks and gloves and a heated blanket), his collection of blankets, plushies, and pillows, and his zip-up binder (safe zip binder!).

He loves running cross country when his body allows it, playing all sorts of pokemon games, learning mythology, laying under his weighted blanket and listening to binaural beats, getting his nails painted by Hank, and watching Star Trek with all of his parents. He’s getting better at stimming and managing overstimulation, but it is still difficult on bad days.

He has one stick and poke tattoo, a sun on his right index finger. He is mixed Vietnamese-African-American, and has darker skin. His hair is medium-length and black, pulled into cornrows with beads and then put into a topknot. He’s got dark freckles, rectangle glasses, and usually has painted nails.

Story: Angels in Pajamas

Character: Charlie

Charlie is 16, born in 2003 (so story set around 2019). He is sort of a nephil, the child of this universe’s Satan and a human. He has fibromyalgia, Pediatric-Onset Multiple Sclerosis (secondary progressive), anxiety, and frequent migraines. The reason he has all these health issues despite being a nephil is because none of his powers are ‘activated’ yet.

As of the beginning of this story, he thinks he’s a binary trans guy, but will figure out that he is more of a nonbinary transmasculine person. He sticks with he/him pronouns though. He is also polyamorous and bisexual. He has a boyfriend and a girlfriend. He is closeted at home, because his parents (or, at least his mom) think all the fuss around being LGBTQ+ is weird, and maybe at school generally, but with his partners he will be out.

Charlie is the antichrist in this universe. He doesn’t know yet, no human around him knows and no angel/demon knows his name/personage, only that there is an antichrist around now. In the first part of the story, Hell finally activates his powers, and Charlie and his boyfriend almost get kidnapped, but Zeke and Ser step in and protect him, because demons and angels could finally find him.

Charlie is terrified to find out that he’s the antichrist, but tries to deal with it by himself--he’s always been forced to. His mother died in childbirth and his dad fell into a bad depression, got remarried, and had a lot of kids with Charlie’s stepmom, and Charlie was forced to help be a parent to his siblings and caregiver to his dad. He has never been able to get help with any problems from his parents, so he’s used to figuring them out himself. His two older siblings, Beau and Charlotte JR (Junie) helped him out with some stuff, but they were also dealing with their own lives.

As for important possessions, he has a driver’s license but no vehicle just for himself (he drives one of the family vehicles), a single stuffed animal--a floppy eared rabbit that his mom got for him before he was born--a few pictures of her with his older siblings and him with his older siblings, a pediatric wheelchair that he’s only had for about 6 months (the frame is a black cherry color), and a set of orange and blue pediatric forearm crutches that he’s used on and off since 13, and now uses whenever he doesn’t use the wheelchair.

He loves going to the lake and sitting there drawing. He used to roller blade in town and ice skate in Santa Fe regularly, but does it very very rarely now; I think he still swims sometimes though. He also likes to just hang out with his partners, listening to Jinx talk about video games, and Maggie talk about sports, and watch his partners at their respective sporting meets. He is mostly nonreligious, though the family goes to Mass for Christmas and Easter, since it’s the done thing.

He is really short, 4’11”. He’s got a fresh buzzcut that he did himself with his dad’s clippers. His hair is naturally blond, and he’s got green eyes. His earlobes are pierced. He lives in joggers and pop culture/graphic tee shirts, though sometimes he wears plain ones or tanks.

He has some unique powers. He can manipulate electricity (so, shoot bolts of electricity at people and also pull electricity out of things, maybe even mess with the electrical impulses in brains at some point), see into other dimensions (the supernatural realm--he can see the angel’s celestial forms), very strong telekinesis (including the ability to pull apart a person’s/thing’s atoms), he can pull angels and demons out of their earthly body (the only other beings to ever have this power is Satan and Lennon), he can heal others and he has accelerated healing (though his body didn’t know to heal itself, as the lesions on his brain and spinal cord were already there when his powers came), and has a lot of other psychic ability--he will start to just Know things, and be able to hear others’ thoughts sometimes. He is very powerful, he’s just terrified of permanently hurting people and so has a hard time reaching his full potential.

Story: Angels In Pajamas

Character: Lennon

Lennon (not their only name, they have chosen a lot of first names in the millenia that they’ve been around) is the Abrahamic God in this universe. There are other deities, more and less powerful than Lennon, but they are the god that most monotheistic religions in this world listen to/use as their god. They are as old as the Big Bang, so one of the Old Gods.

They use they/them pronouns, and are genderfluid/pangender, and pansexual/romantic.

They live in a small apartment in San Fran with Tim, the cherub that decided to guard them when they were forcibly removed from Heaven/Headquarters, and Gift the cat. They work as waitstaff in a diner, because even though they don't need the money, they like to be around all types of people. They own the apartment complex and use a combo of wages and created/summoned money to pay property tax and utilities. (By the way, Gift is a chinchilla golden coat color with a reddish-pink nose and paw pads). They also have a white PT Cruiser.

They are a pretty chill person, despite what their religion would have one think (most of the things that the bible claims that their god did, were actually done by the angels in charge). They've made some bad decisions and are paying for them--such as throwing the ‘corrupted’ angels out of Heaven and sort of creating the Fallen, but the consequences were the secret remaining followers of the Fallen binding their powers and casting them out of Heaven. They were never all-powerful alone (always needed the other Old Gods to come together to create), but now they really aren't even as powerful as Zeke. However, they aren't specifically bound to one earthly body like the angels are.

They love 60s rock, R&B, soul, and the Beatles, which is why they chose the name Lennon. They love listening to and playing music in general--wherever they have lived, you can guarantee that they know at least one instrument from that region. They love to play the Sims. They like to be creative with cooking, though they are kind of a hazard in the kitchen. They used to tell stories to the angels, but they very rarely tell stories anymore, though sometimes they can be convinced. They like to hustle and play pool and cheat people out of money, which gets them chased out of bars sometimes.

They are scatterbrained enough to be able to scorch a pan while boiling water.

They have a slight build, short Blue hair and dark skin. Lennon glasses, TIMELESS knuckle tattoos, a specific necklace that they wear all the time, and several piercings--septum ring, one eyebrow ring and one eyebrow horseshoe, two lobe piercings on one side and one on the other. They look to be around their 40s. They like sweaters, tank tops, jeans, and skirts.

They used to be very powerful, but there is a spell going in Headquarters that drains and binds their power. They are still pretty much immortal--only a few things can kill them, not including old age, but a lot of things can hurt them thanks to the spell, so Tim is their self-appointed bodyguard. They can talk to Tim telepathically, but to no one else anymore. They used to be able to listen to prayers and communicate to the first humans, but not anymore. They can't heal others or themself very much, but they do have slightly accelerated healing. Their Seeing power isn't even as strong as Tim's, so they rely on Tim's Seer powers to guide them to where they need to go. They do have a great memory, though. Right now, Lennon has no plans to return to Heaven--they know they fucked up.

Story: Angels in Pajamas

Character: Tim

Tim is another angel, one of the first 20 or so angels made, though not as old as the first humans in this story’s mythos. She is a cherub. She followed Lennon when they came to Earth, and has lived here for a very very long time, maybe a little less time than Zeke has lived on Earth, but Tim has moved around the world instead of staying in one place.

Her health is impeccable, as she is one of the highest ranking angels in this mythos. She has gotten punched in the face a few times (she has to pretend to be human sometimes, when defending Lennon) and gotten in scraps with demons, which she always wins. Luckily.

She is agender and uses she/her pronouns because it’s just easier, with a body that looks female, when she doesn’t really care. She is androsexual/romantic, and attracted to guys, masculine nonbinary people, and butch lesbians.

She lives in San Francisco, in an apartment with Lennon and a Norwegian Forest Cat named Gift, who is hundreds of years old and keeps getting healed and pampered. Gift has some gifts of his own, I think, kind of absorbed from being around Tim and Lennon.

She is very stoic, rarely speaks. Doesn’t have any friends of her own currently--humans all just die on her, and most angels aren’t on speaking terms with her (misunderstandings). She really only speaks with Lennon, Lennon’s friends and acquaintances, and people she brings home from the bar that she and Lennon work at. She likes to be around kids, even if it’s difficult to show it and to speak to them.

She has a celestial steel sword and staff. She does not have a rank tattoo, as she left Heaven before they became standard. She has industrials in both ears that are difficult to change out, as her body tries to heal them every time she takes them out to change out the jewelry. She mostly wears jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, and headscarves--she was introduced to them while in the Middle-East, loved them, and never stopped wearing them. She’s kind of pasty white, as her skin has never really needed to tan and that’s how she was made, younger looking, 6’4” and chubby/curvy, strong as hell, and has long, curly brown hair. Her face and silhouette from the back are more masculine, so she is sometimes mistaken for a guy, especially with her height.

She loves board and card games, and basketball. She also likes to work out, even though she doesn’t need to. Most people don’t understand her stoicness and she ends up shunned or misunderstood because of it. Lennon understands though, and 100% accepts her for it.

She is a Seer, which is why Lennon and her travel so much--she Sees where they need to go next, and either has visions while awake or dreams. She’s got every power the other angels do, but more/stronger, as she’s one of the most powerful ranks.

Story: Angels in Pajamas

Character: Ser

Also slightly younger than the universe, but younger than Zeke. They’re a regular angel, not a specific rank. They were a spy for a while, but a soldier first. They have been stationed all over the place on Earth and elsewhere to spy for Headquarters (Heaven) on Hell and other places.

They have never taken the time to reflect on their own gender (or dysphoria), but once they do, they will change from generally masculine expression and he/him pronouns to more of a genderflux femme identity and expression, and they/them pronouns.

They have a lot of celestial weapons, their earthly body, and that’s about it for important possessions.

They look younger than Zeke. They are tall (5’10”) and slender, with long ginger hair and a ginger beard/mustache that kind of forms a circle. They have freckles pretty much everywhere, and big ears. They also have two rank/group tattoos instead of the typical one, because the place that the first one was located got burned and scarred by hellfire and is no longer readable on neither his earthly nor celestial body. Because of the burn, they also have slightly less mobility on their right shoulder/arm.

They always wear their Headquarters-approved formal button up shirt, tie, and trousers, unless the undercover work requires something else. Once they turn into more of an earthly angel, like Zeke, they will wear more feminine, kind of elegant clothing. You know, long dresses and flowy skirts and blouses and stuff.

Over the course of the story, they will uncover hobbies of painting, gardening, drawing, and photography.

Ser does not feel emotions in their earthly body, and is faster than most angels of his rank--as he is a spy, and has to be fast and have quick reflexes. They do not need to eat or sleep. This differences are because Ser has not spent extended amount of time around humans and gotten accustomed to them and their ways like Zeke has.

Story working title: Angels in Pajamas

Zeke (he/him)

Slightly younger than the universe. He's an angel, a Principality.

Has lived on earth almost since he was created, as a guardian. Because of that, he feels basically the same as how a human feels, physically--he can feel pain, hunger, emotions.

He is pretty much a trans guy, and pansexual/Demipanromantic. His god-given body is female, and he can't get surgery because no one on earth would understand how to do surgery on a nonhuman, and they don't understand stuff like that in Headquarters--angels who try to permanently change their manifestations/earthly bodies are basically shunned. HRT wouldn't work either. He binds (he loves modern binders) and packs.

He loves wearing pajamas and sleeping (the working title mostly came from him). He loves music (he has a hand painted acoustic guitar he loves to play, along with records, cassettes, and CDs), cars/other transportation methods (he has a skateboard, a VW bus, a motorcycle, and a ‘68 Chevy El Camino), and I think whittling, cooking, and baking. He loves working his human job (mechanic) and trying to help people he comes across, and occasionally saving all of humanity, though he hasn't had to do anything drastic for quite a while. He protects southwestern US and a portion of northwestern Mexico. He lives in a fictional (hopefully) town called Chester Lake, New Mexico.

A friend and their family own a boarding stable, where he has a horse boarded there--a buckskin mustang gelding named Maximus, or just Max. In the original story plans, he had a bearded dragon, German shepherd, and an African Grey parrot, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep that up.

He's short (about 5’3”) and stockier, has short lightish-brown hair that's usually in a wild mess, medium tan skin tone, brown eyes. He has some wrinkles and looks to most people to be in his upper 30s to mid 40s, depending on the day. He also wears glasses, mostly for the Aesthetic. He has a few tattoos, but the only one I know is his rank and group tattoo that appears on his earthly body and his celestial body. It's the only one that Won't fade all the way off after 50 years. He also has his lobes and one eyebrow pierced, as well as numerous scars from different battles.

He cannot roller skate and for some reason that he can't figure out, cows hate him. Most animals like him though, and if he is closely enough bonded to them, he can even communicate with and understand them.

As for powers, he can communicate with most living things with touch telepathy, including humans, and some humans with regular telepathy. He can heal living things and extend their lifespans, though he really only does it with his pets. He is empathic in addition to the Telepathy. Functionally immortal, and only certain things can hurt him. He has supernatural reflexes, and has two celestial weapons (sword and brass knuckles) and a shield. He can see into supernatural wavelengths, which includes seeing souls and whether something is blessed or cursed, being able to tell if Magic is pure or impure, and if a weapon is celestial or infernal whether it's disguised or not--something specific to principalities and higher. He can lightly hypnotize people (so they don't realize he and his pets are too old). He has night vision and increased sensory sensitivity. He also only has to sleep 2 hours a day and doesn't have to eat as much as a human--most angels don't have to eat or sleep at all, but he and other principalities have been on Earth so long that they have to. He can fly and possess animals as long as his earthly body is in a safe place, but he can't possess people.
