Sometimes we encounter things on our path, but because our time has not yet come, they brush past us, without touching us, even though they were close enough for us to see them.

Today, I have read something about how a certain desert tribe from Morocco perceive original sin.
It was said that while Eve was walking in the Garden of Eden, the snake slithered over to her and tempted her into eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge. Eve, who is all aware as instructed by God, refused to eat. The snake then, insisted that she should eat the apple to look more beautiful for her man. However, Eve still refused and told the snake that she doesn't have to as her man does not have any other woman.
The snake just simply laughed and told her that he has been hiding another woman inside a cave. The snake then lead her to a cave where the supposed woman was hiding. Eve leaned over and reflected in the water, she saw a beautiful woman and immediately ate the forbidden fruit of knowledge.
And so, according to this same Moroccan tribe, a return to paradise is guaranteed to anyone who recognizes his or her reflection in the water and feels no fear.

The Persian poet Rumi once said that life is like being sent by a king to another country in order to carry out a particular task. The person sent may do a hundred other things in that other country, but if he or she fails to fulfil the particular task he or she was charged with, it is as if nothing had been done.

Great was our love, it was one for the books
We gave it the best that we could
But I won't recite all my lines just to watch you and I ... Lie
I'm so proud I got to love you once

Who passed through the life in a white cloud,
And slept a peaceful sleep;
Who did not feel the cold disgrace;
Who passed through the life and did not suffer;
Was the specter of a man, but not a man —
He only passed through the life, but did not live it.
- Francisco Otaviano de Almeida Rosa, "Illusions of the life"
