Why do SS and NH shippers think that the Always loving, first love, forever pinning (all onesided) is the be all and end all of romance. They always point to the fact that Sakura and Hinata "from the beginning" had feelings for their male counterparts and that's why they are the "most important" person and the "best" person/ship for them? (some SK do this with Karin too but she doesn't count because I cannot for the life of me believe Karin was 'in love' with Sasuke) It really isn't Aside from it being all onesided and UNrequited and makes no sense it's just desperate and Sad. most of the best couples werent" Always" in love-

Shikamaru and Temari development a working relationship first over years and then feelings. Where they always curious about eachother, for romance to happen, interest must first, did they like each other at that point? Nope.

Kushina and Minato weren't "always" in love. Kushina actually said she that Minato wasn't all that worth paying attention to, it was only after Minato saved her and called her hair beautiful that she started admiring him. We can only speculate what Minato felt but I would bet that he did not have an immediate crush, she was very intriguing and very pretty to him which is why he kept an eye on her though and his interests in her grew as time went. I would go so far as to say that they both started falling in love at the same time, after he saved her because then they actually started to know eachother. But it also wouldn't surprise me if Minato did have a crush beforehand, Kushina was pretty with unique flowing hair, fiery and new and she was willing and able-bodied she would beat the crap out of bullies not ne rescued from them.

Yahiko and Konan, they could have always been in love but even they weren't. They were friend since forever but I think they only started falling in love when they established the Akatsuki.

Chouji and Kurai (the most realistic couple) never met before and their relationship is the cutest.

Kirito/Kazuto and Asuna one of the best anime couples they got together after about 2 years of running into eachother on the front lines. I ship them alot but in no way do I think their first or evebn 4th encounter did they have feelings for eachother, interest maybe but not romance.

One of the most popular romance animes, Inuyasha. Kikiyo and Inuyasha fell in love over a long period of time, and even inuyasha and Kagome took a while before they liked eachother.

And of course SNS the most popular Naruto ship. They also could have "always love eachother" they've both been watching each other since they were 8 (like Sakura and Hinata). But they weren't. I will be the first person to say the weren't even to other shippers, they weren't and it would be stupid and illogical for them to be or to want them to be, THEY'RE 8 and they don't know eachother. Were they intrigued, interested and curious yes, did they want to approach each other YES but only as friends. They kept an eye on each other throughout the years but really they relationship only Started going somewhere when they became teammates, again this is still more from a friendship perspective. Yes I do think that there was always something more there, some bromance along with the platonic, which is partially why they never developed into "normal friends". That's just because Sasuke and Naruto were never ment to be just friends, they are like those kinds of couples that were always going to end up more, like couples that always flirted as friends or friends/people/couples that just clicked instantly or something. But that doesn't stop that from them being just friends for some period of time. We must always look them from a platonic friends perspective first because that is the most important and prevalent part of their relationship. So they had interest and were always drawn to each other but it manifested first as friendship. If you ask me the broship/mance tendencies started in the wave arc (which you would think is too soon but they were doing D-ranks for weeks before) and the real friendship and crush tendencies afterwards.

In conclusion SS and NH have so little ground to stand on they have to overhype "facts" that essentially mean nothing.

so i scrolled down on the anti sasusaku thing and i have found two things:

a. the constant “HE MADE THEM STRAIGHT 😠” or “STOP GOING AGAINST CANON 😠” gives me very homophobic and hypocritical vibes because they headcanon shit about sasusaku all day. they literally take a fucking fan book as canon, but when it comes to other relationships, specifically sns, it’s rhetoric is changed to “let’s FOLLOW canon and it’s weird if you DONT!” and the thing is, they HAVE to constantly rely on fanon since boruto gives them crumbs. but i digress.

another weird thing is how they flood the anti tag with their shitty takes of sasusaku, but when the #pro sakura haruno tag gets flooded they yell and scream about people tagging shit correctly.

i usually ignore any sakura fans since they all have a combined mental age of five, but whew that was a LOT of stupidity.

people on ao3 donate in droves and they always get way more than their goal. im sure that if they held donations every once in a while they’d be able to make their money, but i guess this was a more “prideful” way, even though i don’t know anyone who would use it.

I was trying to keep up with people's comments and additions on my copyright post but I literally can't anymore bc there's just too many (i read the tags people add, too, bc I just like to). I was really scared of getting some hate or of being ridiculously wrong but it seems that the general consensus (including from actual lawyers) is that I'm mostly correct. Ultimately the bottom line is that charging people for fanworks is going to leave you vulnerable to lawsuits being filed against you.

So, yeah. I wasn't really that invested in this whole thing, to be honest; my original intent was just to share some info bc I know a lot of people (like myself, most of the time) aren't going to bother to read the TOS or won't read it closely, and I also know that when you don't read the TOS, you never quite know what you're agreeing to when you click "I Accept" so - but, after looking further into it and actually looking at tumblr's manipulative language, it's fair to say I've gone from being ambivalent/slightly amused to being really worried and also disappointed bc honestly, the fuck, tumblr?

My takeaway, right now, is that tumblr is just desperate to monetize in some way so that it can profit from those of us who are left after the 2018 mass exodus and on the one hand, I get it bc it's not free to run a large website, but on the other hand, they could just ask for donations?? I know that I, personally, would happily donate $5 or something if it meant that 1 - tumblr would stop trying to monetize things here and 2 - if it meant money for tumblr to stay online as well as fix some of the issues like the search feature, the porn bot problem, etc.

Tumblr is my "safe space," in that it's the only social media I really use because it's not instagram or facebook or twitter, etc. I like being anonymous. I like connecting with people who are actually interested in what I'm interested in, instead of just scrolling mindlessly through pics of people's pets, kids, and vacations. I have found a voice here, and a community, and an outlet for my Feels. Tumblr functions very well as a fandom space; there's nothing else like it (which is why we're all still here even though on the best days this site is, like, barely held together with a few paperclips and some duct tape).

And to see tumblr actively being misleading with intents to take advantage of its user base so they can try to make a fast buck (it's not going to work anyway!) while also making sure they can toss the users under the bus, when push comes to shove ... is so disheartening.

And also worrisome. If this site tanks, where else are we gonna go? I tried out all the other options, like Dreamwidth, during the porn ban exodus/debacle in 2018. Do not like, at all.

So, yeah, I'd happily donate $5 to help prevent that from happening and I think most people feel the same. We all donate (or spread the word if we can't donate) toward AO3 bc it's so important to us as a haven for fanworks. Why can't tumblr work the same way?

Smh. I hope that this post+ thing just goes away. I hope that my post, and others like it, reach the people they need to reach in order to make a difference in whether or not they proceed with their scammy cash grab. I hope they add a tip jar function or have a fundraising campaign. Or, barring any of that, I hope that we're able to figure out, as a community, alternative options for fandom once tumblr inevitably goes down the toilet.

ik ive been gone for a while and i still plan on not being here as often, but i saw a post debunking tumblr's statement about Post + and i though i might add my two cents in.

this is a horrible idea.

i will separate this into a law aspect and a personal aspect.

Is This Even Legal?

well apparently, it is. i am not a lawyer so feel free to correct me on anything i say, but it's legal to a fault. any parody off another work can legally be commercialized. that's how youtubers like bart baker were able to make millions off the platform for years without getting sued. the problem is, as another user stated, most of your fics/artworks aren't satirical or parodies. i have read thousands of sns fics and trust me when i say i have only read ONE parody. shit, even 50 shades of grey, which was originally a Twilight fan fic, had to be given ocs and certain changes just so the author could make money off of it. so if you want to participate in that, be my guest! just be prepared to either SOLEY write parody/satire fics, or lawyer up in case you get sued.

My Personal Strifes With Tumblr +

i have always enjoyed that tumblr, while it isn't ad free, doesn't bombard me with ads like instagram does. it has always felt like a bubble i can simply be in without being constantly told to consume. while i get the user base isn't as huge as it was maybe four years ago and the site needs to make money, why put yourselves and your users at risk of getting sued just to do it? some of these fanfic writers are young and they might not understand the risk they take by using this program, and others might not be able to fight a lawsuit. maybe tumblr + would've been a good idea if swers were still allowed on the site, but now it is not.

my main issue with this, however, is how they're trying to commercialize fan fiction. call me whatever you want, but i will not pay to see you write about characters from another story and ultimately utilize the same themes. i would understand if this was a commission fic and only i got to see it, but in my opinion, fan fiction is supposed to be self indulgent. it's a fucking hobby. what makes fan fiction so enjoyable is it literally being a passion project. at the end of the day, these are not your OCs or even themes you came up with yourself. and tumblr is shit for even letting people have the opportunity to do it.
