Well, for starters, the kwamis do look a little different (as evidenced by silu's many sketches), but overall their main difference is that their attachments to their child soldiers are largely devoid of genuine affection outside of what makes their holder willing enough to actually fight.

Like, sure, they might care a little bit for these wet meat creatures that barely last a blink in a swami's lifespan, but first and foremost they are puppets for the kwami to enact their will and the mission always comes first.

The kwamis all have vices because silu and I thought it was funny. (And it's symbolic for their connection to the mortal plane. probably.)

the most fascinating thing(to me) about the gondola rides in venice, italy was, surprisingly, not the gondola. it was where the water met the building foundations, the very essence that makes venice so interesting. how the water eroded the outer layers of paint and plaster, but the bricks held up and algae grew on every possible surface. the canals. the fact that humans built these buildings so long ago, and how that took such a toll on the archipelago it was built on, sinking it further and further till the roads werent above water anymore. how humans do not plan ahead--like ever. til the only form of transportation was boat. how we ruined this land, for the water to reclaim it, but we still live there. we still find a way to keep it our home, even if its actively trying to undo what we did.

obviously humans are terrible, the need for knowledge and power leading to our downfall, that is. common sense. but we rarely actually see an example of that that isnt just "war! extinction! capitalism!" and i think venice is proof of what im talking about. a sinking city, that, for some reason, people still live in. that people visit. that we cherish as somewhere everyone should visit once. a timed experience.

its such an interesting thing to think that venice exists. and we can go visit there and see absolute proof of humans effect on something as simple as a complex archipelago that would've been just as stunning without it sinking more and more every year.

i think we need to talk about the divine mechanical more. are computers/mechanical prosthetics/whatever even as foreign as we make them out to be? because arent humans mechanisms, too? mechanisms of veins and bone? of flesh and blood? doesnt the brains use electricity to send signals based on different outputs(like sight and hearing), kind of like a computer does with the keys you press? the human mind perceives human thinking as information processing, isnt that very similar to how computers process information? only difference is sentience, but how long until computers develop that, too?
