"On Doing An Evil Deed Blues" by Lil Ugly Mane
Lil Ugly Mane is as close as we have to a legend in the world of internet hip-hop. By being so skilled in three different facets of hip-hop (production, rapping, and graphic design), he’s proven himself over and over again, whether it’s with his album artwork for the Raider Klan, his production as Shawn Kemp for Supa Sortahuman, or his own incredible MC work such as that on “Mista Thug Isolation”. That sad fact though, is that after his upcoming album, Ugly Mane will be retiring from hip-hop. As sad as it is, at least we’ve been able get this much great music from Ugly Mane so far, and in the meantime before he drops his final album, at least we have this incredible new, seven minute track, “On Doing An Evil Deed Blues”.

I got my mother’s insanity and her trust issues and my father’s temper and his secretive ways. They never were the most stable people. Imagine what I’m like when I’m the two of them together as one person.

For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.

Find a beautiful piece of art. If you fall in love with Van Gogh or Matisse or John Oliver Killens, or if you fall love with the music of Coltrane, the music of Aretha Franklin, or the music of Chopin - find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that that was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.
