In 1957 Litrico tailored a coat for Nikita Chruščëv. The Russian politician is so impressed with the gift that he orders the entire wardrobe for his trip to the United States. The shoes that the Russian politician slammed on the table of the United Nations General Assembly in NYC, the 12th of October 1960 are also from the Maison Litrico: that famous gesture will go down in history. Master Tailor Litrico was born in Catania in 1927 and died in Rome in 1986 He is the eldest son of a poor fisherman, has 11 brothers and must necessarily contribute to the maintenance of the family. In 1945 he decided to move to Rome in search of work. With a few cents in his pocket, a strong Sicilian accent, but a lot of audacity, good taste and an entrepreneurial spirit out of the ordinary for those times. He introduces himself in a tailor's shop in Via Sicilia 51, a few steps for the Dolce Vita's street in the heart of Italy's capital, and obtains the position of "bench". After only six years he buys the tailoring that had hired him and begins the ascent to success.
