uhmm i haven't been seeing a lot of discussion about till aside from his relationships with other competitors and i think it's something that must be addressed because i think among the competitors he's the anomaly.
unlike his peers, Till is nothing special. Ivan is beautiful and talented and so is Mizi, and they're both treated as valuable things by their alien owners because of it. You can see this in the way Ivan's constantly surrounded by attention and food and Mizi's pampered lifestyle pre-alien stage.
but then you get to Till and he's literally just strapped to a medical table. Mizi and Ivan's "foster family" treat them with some degree of humanity, even if it's in the way that humans now treat their beloved house cats. If that's the case, Till's treated as a mildly interesting lab rat.
His owners go lengths to further dehumanize him, and you can see that from the way he's so often muzzled when no one else is. They also quite literally brand him !!
This type of dehumanization in my opinion is also something that contributes to Till's aggressive behavior, because he is constantly in the circumstances that force him to do so.
Till is neither too attractive or too talented at singing, and I'm pretty sure he knows this --- that's why he relied so heavily on the element of gruesome surprise during his first round.
It's also worth mentioning that his unhealthy attachment to the idea of Mizi as some kind of saving grace also reflects on his own perception of himself, as some sinner in need of saving. Whenever he imagines Mizi in the Round 6 video, he is someone tainted in the colors of his captors (red) and sweaty, whereas Mizi is bright and glowing.
He didn't expect to live past round 6, I think that's made pretty clear. His expression isn't one of someone who expects to live (especially when Mizi is now either dead or gone). His expression is of someone defeated.
Another thing about Till is that he felt alone. Ivan loves him, we knows this, but Till doesn't. The few instances we see through Ivan's eyes, his kindness towards Till is either from somewhere Till can't see or when he's unconscious. The only time we see them interact where Till is aware of what's going on is when they're fighting as kids, and their one escape attempt.
As far as I know, Till has nothing to go off of in recent times. The only time that he's touched is by alien captors and scientists, both who see him as less than human. It's easy to be beat down and dehumanized when there is no one around you to humanize you.
No other competitor, from what we've seen, is treated as awfully as Till is treated. His idealization of Mizi stems from delusion, and there is no indication to him now that his ex-best friend Ivan still gives a shit about him.
That changes after the 6th Round though, and Till is so well set up to be a character who gets his entire worldview shattered, with Ivan's final show of affection and Mizi's disconnect from the one he has in his head (symbolized by her cut hair).
Till, a hotheaded human who is nothing special but lived on until the final round through the idealization of one competitor and the sacrifice of another ... the silliest of all time

Alien Stage is so crazy to me because it’s. It’s about many things but what stands out to me the most is how the children of Anakt Garden during times of extreme hardship and fear and literal alien colonization, instead of looking toward some omniscient being(s) for salvation or succumbing to cynicism/nihilism, they look toward each other to find hope. All it takes is a connection with one person, just one instance of butterflies in a society where things like love and romance are all but obsolete, and now they’re making that person their God their reason to live and breathe and wake up every morning. (Or, in some cases, to give up their lives. If it means protecting the life of their beloved.) And it’s like. It’s as if what sets us apart from aliens or simply what makes us human is our capacity to whole-heartedly, unabashedly love one another. Even to the end of ourselves.

This panel is the same sentiment but a lot serious but just LOOK AT THEM being so happy to see their ghost friend ALIVE and GROWN and HAPPY?! It's so heartbreaking to know that the hanako-kun from the real timeline never got to experience being alive long enough to pursue his dreams :(
Spoilers for JSHK 119!
Y'all... The fact that yashiro's first question for hanako is "Are you happy?" and not anything about this new world... She's wanted him to have a happy life for so long and she regards the "new" amane with so much shyness and gentleness, like she's scared if she does too much the spell might breakI am actually sobbing. She just wants to make sure that the amane who got the chance to grow up to be an adult got a happy and fulfilling childhood + teenage years, that he made friends, that he was able to experience love, all the things the hanako she knew COULDN'T ☹️☹️☹️

Kou just wants to be happy why can't they just let him be a fourteen year old kid who worries over teenager things like idk acne and homework and not the WEIGHT OF THE WORLD?!?!? Please Aidairo I'm begging just make the boys be happy URGH
Aidairo has ruined my life but I just can’t stop reading Tbhk. It’s come to the point where the looming dread of the ending and all I’ve learned about the characters causes me to cry every time I think too long about the series, every single new chapter kills me. (crying writing this right now)
It’s such a good story, with well crafted characters and lore, but god forbid you get attached to any of the characters, because either half of them are dead, or you know they’ll end up horribly depressed and/or traumatized.
AND CHAPTER 118, AIDAIRO LET THEM BE HAPPY FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES PLEASEE
My favorite character is kou, but at this point , he’s more of a discomfort character than a comfort character. I literally can’t think about him for too long without crying.
I need someone to rant to about all the intricacies of this series, none of my friends have read past the part that appeared in the anime and it’s killing me.
JUST LOOK AT THESE PANELS
(Spoilers for chapter 118)
THE ONE TIME THEYRE ABLE TO BE HAPPY, THEY ARE HAUNTED BY THE WORLD WHERE THEY COULDNT BE, I HATE YOU AIDAIRO.
IN THIS WORLD KOU CALLS MITSUBA BY HIS FIRST NAME, GOD PLEASE BE LESS TRAGIC
WHY DO MITSUBA AND KOU CHAPTERS HAVE TO BE SO BITTERSWEET, THEY SPEND HALF THE TIME BEING DEPRESSING, THEN DROP SOME OF THE SWEETEST INTERACTIONS THAT SHOW HOW MUCH THEH CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER, IM GOING TO CRY SO HARD WHEN THEY INEVITABLY HAVE A SAD ENDING.
THIS CHAPTER AND THE NIGHT OUT ARC ARE KILLING ME
Also, I’m really curious what happened to the Amane on this world. Tsukasa is dead, so he should have lived a full life, but he died young still. I’m really interested in what he’s doing in the red house still, and the truth about the monster under the house. Not to mention the weird hole thing going on with his and Tsukasa’s face.
#im in so much denial bc i know aidairo will show no mercy to them#they make me SICK#minamoto kou#mitsuba sousuke#jshk#tbhk

YES!! Absolutely! Everyone sleeps on them.
They are so funny.
The way Kou is very judgemental of Akane is wonderful to me, he really just assumes shit about him?? He has a "my senpai is weirdo" view on Akane.
Which makes sense considering the kind of talk Akane has with him off manga?? Like bro, please -
But at the same time!!
Kou looks up to Akane, sees him as a dependable senpai, considering he was an option for guidance, putting him on the same panel as the brother he idolized and the supernatural whose power is knowledge, only stopped from asking for help because Akane was being crazy about Teru's bet.
So on a normal day he would see this "weirdo upperclassman" as someone helpful.
Which leads me to how Kou called Akane when Teru locked himself. HE CRIED TO AKANE OF ALL PEOPLE FOR HELP.
I also genuinely believe he thinks Akane is so cool! He got some awe going on considering how flustered he gets near him.
Honestly this mix of concerned cause he assumes Akane is a weirdo with insane tastes, and flustered cause he genuinely respects him/wants Akane to think he is cool, makes for a really funny dynamic.
Bro really blasts Akane while simultaneously having a kind of admiration for him.
And Akane? Akane also judges him a lot.
He looks down on Kou at times too, cause to be fair, Kou is very spaced out, and their world view does not align.
I will never forget the scene where Akane had to REMIND Kou that "Hey, your friend is dead. Get your priorities straight kid."
But he likes his spunk too, he is inspired by his determination, he wants Kou to succeed. I'm glad Kou goes to him for help cause Akane does like him, if he can help, he will.
He sucks at pep talks though, he comes off as very awkward when he tries to cheer him up.
He also understands Kou extremely well despite barely interacting.
He only scowled Teru after the brothers fought because he ALREADY KNEW Kou would protect Hanako.
Akane could also sense he has some kind of connection with Supernatural MItsuba, who I doubt Kou ever mentioned to him, he is always very silent about Mitsuba. So Akane must have noticed from body language alone?? My boy-
He sees him as a good kid, so much so he goes "you sure you're related to Teru?"
He also appreciates Kou's cooking skills.
bonus: this wonderful panel

who else is fucked up about the new tbhk arc and chapter 114 like. atp i need aidairo to write out this other timeline as its separate story and have both timelines be canon bc. Oh my god can you imagine Teru and especially Kou returning to the original timeline, and just. Being aware of what they lost. Being more aware than ever of what could have been. Except unlike picture perfect, this life was real, and they had to lose their loved ones again. They had to experience exactly what they were about to be forced into giving up, which is something they've also craved after experiencing such loss in their original timeline, which makes this loss hit even harder. We know aidairo loves angst, so like, I really really don't think they're all gonna forget everything once they return to the og timeline. Which means they can't un-experience the love that is now absent in their own world - their perfect world, their perfect relationships, it's all going to leave an exit wound, a void they can't ever fill once they return home. I thikn im going to throw up
