Put a Frog on it.
Tumblr media
So hey, sometimes I do sell pottery online. Right now, there's some frog things. I love how these glazes break over the little toes.

There's a spin off series. (Not really) Obviously it's about one of the villains.

My stream chat has a recurring character known as 'Self Care Dragon'. Self Care Dragon is generally reading or in possession of a series of romance novels the pin titles of which I'm inordinately proud of. Yes, it's a dragon/knight romance series. The Knight's pronouns are They/Them, no official word on the dragon's pronouns.

Do you have a shop where one might perhaps order a ceramic snake mug?
I do have a shop: sarahwithtea.com/shop Alas there's no pottery right now. Pottery generally goes up in little batches as I finish a group of things. I'll announce sales here, on instagram, and on my Patreon a few days before, and I usually get Patrons first refusal. The first set of 2024 will likely be frog mugs because I've been planning them for about a month already!

Enjoying an oxide and white glaze series with these. Clearly I'll have to do more snakes.

I seem to be through something of a reptile and amphibian phase. Some of these are going to be hard to part with. Especially the frog jars and the gecko!

Just adding May 2023 of the same tree. It was struck by lightening a few years ago and I took more time with its scars. It’s easier to paint longer when you can sit outside in lovely weather in a rocking chair to do the painting!

Sketch Commissions
I don’t usually do commissions, but patrons get a quarterly sketch request and this time I’ve opened 5 slots for non-patrons. $20 gets you a sketch that you request and I mostly make the staging decisions for: https://ko-fi.com/sarahwithtea/commissions

Or you could become a patron, that would be really neat! patreon.com/sarahwithtea

Little rabbit is the first test of a glaze-oxide combination for larger sculptures. I might tweak how I wipe away glaze or thin it some before I dip the sculpture, but I like the effect overall.

And sometimes, glaze does NOT come out looking like you expected. I’m honestly a bit of an over planner when it comes to glaze. In this case I even made tests with the same clay before hand. But on the larger pieces, for some reason, the glaze bubbled quit a lot.  My theory is that it’s the granular manganese in the clay body burning through the glaze. This is recycled clay from a group studio, and anything that isn’t white just goes into a ‘red’ bucket, which includes a speckled buff clay that has granular manganese in it. You can see some speckles that are behaving in the lid, as well as a cross section of bits of various clay bodies that weren’t totally blended together in wedging. Why it didn’t do the same in the smaller test...is a mystery. On the bright side, the whole point was for them to look like weathered, mossy wood, and as they aren’t meant for tableware where washing the surface would be an issue, the bubbling don’t make them unusable. But that won’t keep me from complaining about it on the internet!

Both entirely separate from “God needs fighting and I guess if no one else is gonna do it...”
All props to the characters whose entire vibe is “You know, I didn’t intend to fight God when I woke up this morning, but since I’m here….”
Never misses. Always slaps.
Edit: This is not the same as “I fully intended to fight God today. This altercation was planned.” Which is, undoubtedly, also fantastic.

Jackrabbit, rabbitbrush, and lacy fenestrations. Yes, I know it’s a hare and not technically a rabbit but it’s in the SPIRIT of the thing still surely.  And now for the 2023 self-promotion before I forget about it again for like a year:  If you were a Patron, you could get this as a print in the mail! Print level patrons get quarterly 5x7 prints mailed to them!

I was looking for more fired pottery to post but...honestly I just have a cabinet full of unfired pottery. But remembered how much I like this very happy bat.
