this is my gift to myself: horrible career criminals being Silly And Domestic. Again. But This Time With SOUP.
Vodka can totally sing because nothing in canon says he can't.

Timeloop!Vodka (First Loop)(Part 2.5)
He couldn't go back home, he hadn't been there in almost 20 years and he wasn't ready to go back, not now and probably not ever. He knew there were a few cheap hotels he could go to. They were in the seedier areas of town but considering he had been in worse places during missions with Gin, he wasn't going to complain. He sat in a hotel room, getting a fake ID was fairly easy and the attendant didn't give him a second glance. He got a pair of scissors and went to the bathroom; he never took care of his appearance when he was younger. His messy shoulder-length black hair was evidence of that, it looked like it hadn't been washed in days.
"How did I live like this?" He spoke as he put his fingers through his greasy hair, only to immediately wipe his hands on a towel. He should have gotten a razor for this. He took a deep breath before grabbing as much of his hair as he could with his left hand before using the scissors in his right hand to cut as much of it as he could reach. It was a pretty hack job all things considered but it would do for now.
He promised himself he'd get a razor and fix it as soon as he could. As well as actually washing his hair. In a way, he had wasted his teenage years. Once he had moved out and started taking care of himself, he never went back to his old ways, even when he had only gotten 2 hours of sleep after a mission and had to go on another one as soon as he woke up, he had dunked his head in the sink and washed his hair that way. He remembered when Gin caught him doing it once and looked at him like he was insane. It made him laugh. He was going to miss him.
The next thing that needed to change were his round tinted glasses. He needed a new pair, more like the pair he wore before he died, he loved those glasses. He looked through his pockets and sighed, those glasses were going to be expensive. He could steal from his oldest brother Kenji's stash of ill-gotten gains, which would be way too risky. He could ask his other brothers Kai and Ichiro, but he didn't want to talk to them, so he scrapped that idea too. He only had enough money for two more nights at the hotel, he needed to think of something fast.
Who knew that being a teenager again would give him so many problems, he had to convince his friends to actually try and get away with what they did, make sure he could get Kiyomi out of the country again. And the most important thing on his mind: Not getting arrested.
#another part#haven't written in forever but im a college student#I'm just gonna write parts that happen inbetween other parts now#Like between part 2 and 3 I skipped a lot#when you have no backstory for Vodka so you just give him one#I love him so much but god why did I make him the main character

Timeloop!Vodka (First Loop)(Part 4)
He hadn't been to his childhood home since he was arrested at 19. It wasn't much different from what he remembered. The same wooden floors that made way too much noise at night and the same grey walls that had tons of photos of his brothers hung on them. None of him though, Kenji never liked acknowledging that they were related. Now he was an adult, this place felt less like a home and more like a reminder that his oldest brother never wanted him around. Unfortunately, since he was in the body of a teenager now, he had to start living there again, hiding in hotels and warehouses could only last so long before the police started trying to bait him out of his hiding spots. 'Some things never change' he smiled at the thought. "Saburo." His oldest brother greeted him reluctantly. It was a pretty cold reception all things considered. "Kenji." He said back, trying to hide his anger. He was starting to consider running back to whatever hotel had the least night shift workers. Before he could consider it any further, Kai put a hand on his shoulder. "Kenji! How was your match?" Kai excitedly asked. He had been Kenji's favorite apart from his twin brother Ichiro. Always thought he could play peacekeeper, but all he really did was give excuses for Kenji. Saburo glanced at the door, he wanted to leave. Anywhere but here would be great. "It was great, the bastard didn't see my hits coming!" Kenji was always repeating the stories of his victories inside the ring. He mostly fought in America, apparently this country was too limiting for him. He secretly wished Kenji would stay there forever. Kai laughed politely while Ichiro rolled his eyes. Ichiro at least shared his disdain for Kenji, unfortunately for very different reasons. Ichiro was reading a legal textbook, probably wishing he hadn't left his apartment for this, he was probably here only to appease Kai's need for the whole family to be here to welcome Kenji back or whatever. He moved to the dining table, probably hoping to study law in peace. Saburo decided to join him and sit on the opposite end of the table. He wanted to be as far away from Kenji as possible. "Hello Saburo." Ichiro's tone was cold but the smile on his face told a different story. At least someone was happy to see him. "Hey Ichiro, what case are you reading about?" Hopefully that was the right thing to say, he was already feeling awkward. Ichiro gave a surprised smile. Oh yeah, he had never been interested in learning or anything remotely academic when he was younger. Well, that was all about to change. Unless he had to do math, then he would probably die on the spot. This was probably why Vermouth made fun of him. "Well, if you really want to know, I'm not reading about one specific case right now, but I'm reading about insurance law, specifically the law on insurance payouts after an earthquake." Ichiro seemed happy to keep talking. A lot of the terms confused him, but he listened anyway. Similar to how Gin would rant at him for hours about whatever mission they had that day, usually if it involved a murder the rant would be pretty short. He smiled fondly at the memory before quickly pushing the thought away. He was supposed to follow the law this time, he reminded himself. No more crime. Considering he had a fake ID though, he couldn't completely avoid it.
"Don't you have homework Saburo?" He looked at his math homework in despair. Ichiro just had to remind him that it existed, didn't he? "Don't remind me." He knew he'd have to do this homework if he wanted to graduate high school. He had just barely made it through the skin of his teeth last time. "I don't even know what these symbols are..." he complained sarcastically. Ichiro smirked. "I guess you have to find out." He quipped as he got out an even larger law textbook. Saburo knew he'd rather read that textbook than do his math homework. Even though he hated reading at least it would be more useful to know than algebra.
#ANOTHER PART#this first loop is hard to write but god am I proud#Vodka/Saburo is trying his best to be a good brother#first part written for 2023 lets goooo#should I tag this with an AU tag? Maybe#Vodka/Saburo's family is an absolute mess lol

honestly, would anyone mind if I just write whatever comes into mind even if its not in chronological order

Timeloop!Vodka AU (First Loop)(Part 3)
It had been several weeks since Ayano made her ultimatum, Vodka had been keeping himself out of trouble for the most part which was rather difficult to do when his teenage self made enemies far easier than he made friends. He had at least cut his hair and brought a new pair of glasses, he wasn't incredibly strong, it would take a bit longer to work on that, his muscles did not appear overnight, contrary to popular belief.
He was in the last period of the day, history again. He had been trying to pay attention in his other classes, but math had been particularly difficult for him, he barely understood the numbers on the paper, he guessed that it would be a lot easier if he actually remembered anything from the first time.
The journalism club wouldn't be meeting up after school today due to Ayano visiting her brother in Osaka, apparently it wouldn't be the same without her. Which meant he'd have to go home earlier than usual, his eldest brother Kenji was going to be back from America tonight, he dreaded seeing him again, he hadn't seen him since he joined the organisation 7 years ago.
When the last period ended, he made sure to leave through one of the windows, he did not feel like getting into a fight and receiving an hours long lecture from his teachers (again). Outside the school gates waiting for him was his brother Kai who had a dark brown buzzcut and was wearing his police academy uniform. Next to him was a man he swore he had met before, he just looked younger now, probably mid-twenties, he was slightly shorter than Kai and had a bushy mustache. Kai waved over to him
"Surprise!" Kai was very excited, he was too, he never admitted to a single person in the organisation that he missed his brothers (except Kenji, he could rot in hell) he didn't think a single person knew he even had brothers. Except Vermouth. She practically knew everything anyway. He waved and walked over to his brother; it was an awkward wave, but it would do.
"Is that the brother you were talking about Uokka?" The familiar man pointed over to Vodka. Kai nodded.
"Don't be a stranger Megure! You can call me Kai." Oh, that's where he recognised him from, the police inspector had become a major thorn in the organisation's side, he had hidden the fact that Kudo had been working with the police for months, that name still evoked a feeling of frustration within him, apparently the APTX that he was fed was a dud, that was why he should have just shot him, police be damned.
"You can call me Saburo," He wouldn't think he'd give a cop his real name -oh, wait, he wasn't a criminal anymore nor was Inspector Megure a cop- Megure looked him up and down, the one good thing about his glasses was that he wouldn't have to meet his eyes.
"Nice to meet you Saburo, I hope you aren't as rowdy as your brother over there," he pointed to Kai and cracked a small smile. Vodka shrugged in response and started walking home with his brother and Megure.
The more he thought about it, he wasn't a criminal now, therefore he wasn't Vodka anymore, if he reached his twenties in this life, things would get very awkward, he probably would never step foot in a bar again. He would leave his old life behind, there's no evidence, no one would believe what he had- hadn't done? Saburo wouldn't screw this life up, he had ruined his first life, he sure wasn't going to ruin the second.
#another part#should i actually tag this with the work name?#or even character tags#I mean the Vodka tag doesn't get much activity anyway
