Went to Katsucon this past weekend! Had fun, ran around with friends

And importantly did a silly cosplay

a couple of extra how-it’s-made details of my holiday Vash coat:

I designed the stitching patterns first in illustrator (base pattern by alchemical cosplay), printed them out and then cut out each section to act as a stencil

the fabric was too stretchy to just satin stitch and I didn’t have a walking foot yet (this project prompted me to buy one 🫠)

Instead I used a cut away stabilizer and traced the patterns onto it and the fabric itself. I would have preferred tear away stabilizer but it was just not enough to keep the stitching steady

It also made for a neat effect when the inner fabric was fused to the outer

Didn’t make it out to any holiday cons this year, so throwback to my holiday Vash coat featuring plant lines that look like a Christmas tree!

I spent 20 days straight satin stitching this mofo please observe

Dragoncon was a crazy time like always

This year I actually made costumes for non cosplay friends to join - the parakeets + the king from the Boy and the Heron

Restyled the front of my Vash wig a little and got to wear it out to Awesomecon this past weekend!

I have a bit of a break before my next con so time to work on other costumes and get back to drawing a bit!

By the Trigun meetup on Saturday I was out of thomas/thoma chicks to give away! The meetup was CRAZY!

For funsies a made a little wanted poster for myself based off my Vash cosplay. Plan is to use a modified version of these for a little swag exchange I want to do at the next couple cons!

Ngl tracing a picture of your face is a kinda freaky experience but good anatomy practice I guess!

I also intentionally left off the city stamp mostly cause lazy but also because I might add a more meta logo there later

Tumblr cosplay update! I finished the main sewing for my Vash coat and wore it to Megacon in Orlando! After a trial run there are a few spots that should be touched up and I eventually want to weather it, but I’m super happy with how the look has come together so far!

The final Christmas Vash outfit from HolMat! This coat was a ton of fun (and work) to make and I met so many great Trigun cosplayers at the meet up!!

Might as well share this WIP here, but I’ve been working on a Christmas tree Vash coat for an upcoming con, Holiday Matsuri

It’s almost done, but I’m pretty pleased with how the Christmas tree-style plant lines turned out after 3 weeks of satin stitching! I’ll post a photo of the full outfit after the con!
