Casting
What is casting?
Casting is when a liquid material is usually poured into a mold (wikipedia). It usually contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape.
What is specific about the type of casting we have done?
We used plaster. The material surface was flat and lacks of transparency. We put our finger in the hollow cavity and then it solidified. Our finger was ejected out of the mold to complete the process.
Artist example
Geroge Segal the american painter and sculptor.
Images and instructions process of alginate casting process
1.The model or subject will need to be briefed on the process
2. Creating a skin of alginate.
Tip: adding more water will make the alginate go further.

Image of your sculpture + reflection
In this picture we can se a beautiful sculpture made by Juan Pablo and me. We made an sculpture out of carton using 8 figures. We used both techniques because we assembled all the pieces and the product is a picture that it is not attached to a flat background. I mean it can be viewed from different perspectives just like “In the Round” technique.

In the round + assembling
In the round
It is a type of sculpture in which the figures are presented in a three-dimensional form and they are not attached to a flat background (getty.edu). For example, statues and busts. Sculpture in the round can be viewed from all sides giving the viewer many perspectives.
Assembling
It is when sculptors join different materials to create an assembled sculpture (getty.edu). Assembling is an additive process. An example of assemblage is when we (Juan Pablo and me) joined all the figures to create the sculpture.

Stop Start Motion
5 Sentences of the process of start stop motion with 2 images
Animation captured one frame at a time.
When you play a fast sequence it creates the illusion of movement.
Stop start motion is the same as 2D but with physical objects.
They are used in films, commercials, music videos, etc.
It is not necessarily to use physical objects, you can involve humans.

I chose Pablo Picasso, the Spanish painter and sculptor. Picasso uses lots of lines, shapes and patterns. Although I love his abstract creations and the colors he uses, his work is really creative. He hasn't normal paintings, everyone could have their own different perspective for each one. I tried to represent as much as possible all the shapes he uses. As you can see in my painting, I draw many lines which are part of Picasso’s style. The pattern is really curious because it doesn't actually follows a straight pattern.

“Rough Sketches for Illustration Project”
On the first sketch I didn’t put the ocean. It is really simple and everyone is happy. These one is the simplest. The atmosphere is like summertime and everyone is happy. I didn’t include colors beacuse the original scene is black and white so I didn’t think it was necessary.
On the second sketch I replace the sun for the moon.In these one I include the ocean, like in the original scene. The characters are two kids and a weird hippie men. It is like a chill mood.
On the third sketch I changed completely the angle. Everything that was on the left I put it on the right and everything that was on the right I put it on the left. The setting is on the beach, a sunny day.

Fictional covers usually have cartoon drawings. They are like children books.
Non fictional covers are more formal, drawings or pictures look real.
The mozart book is attractive by the cover. It seems to has many drawings and an easy description of Mozart’s life. It is obviously a children book.
The planes book is really attractive by the cover. It has many planes and it also seems it is going to have many images. It is like an encyclopedia of planes.
The Guinness world records 2001 cover is really simple. It does´t have much, just letters. From this book we can expect to be for all kinds of public. It is like an entertainment book.

Autobiographical Artwork
I drew New York City skyline because I love to travel and I think it is one of the main things that represent me. The sun instead of being simple and ordinary, it’s a soccer ball. As you can see the image has a lot of colors, the colors represent my sense of humor, my laugh and my happiness.
I did this work with many colors and I used red and orange chalk for the background. The media is a big cardboard.
I used the negative spaces to do the background and implied the lines to do the different buildings. As you can see the negative space looks cool with the buildings. I left a little space space between the buildings and the background.
