In part 2 of the German A2 speaking exam, you will be given a card with a theme and sample questions. You have to talk about the themes for several minutes. When you finished, examiner would ask you a follow-up question. There are four guiding questions/remarks on the card. I made two or three lines for each guiding question, the examiner seemed satisfied with the amount of content, then I stopped. As I’m learning #German with the online platform lingoda, I meet different teachers and classmates every time, and often teachers would ask us to introduce ourselves and tell the reason for learning #Deustch. After answering such question so many times, I find the safest answer is “learning German is my hobby.” 🤣 Some of my classmates do say they learn German as hobby, as they love German culture and travelling to Germany. For me, learning German is also my hobby as the #GermanVocab are quite interesting, in terms of combination of words. I like the pronunciation of German as well. When you’re ready for the exam, the examiner will ask you to introduce yourself first. So you’ll have to tell your name and why you learn German. I was told using sentence patterns like “weil”, “denn” would add you some points. So better memorise these subjunction (Subjunktionen) by heart! Remember always put the verb at the end when you’re using subjuction for Nebensatz like “weil”, “falls”, “wenn”, “da”, “als”, “dass”, etc.! . If you’ve learnt #Japanese for sometime, you may be thinking which level of JLPT (Japanese proficiency test) to take. In my personal experience, N2 level covers many language patterns and vocabs in daily conversations, and most Japanese companies require only N2 level for foreigners to apply for their positions. On the other hand, N1 level covers many formal expressions which are used in writing essays. It even covers some difficult #Japanesekanji (漢字) which many natives may not even know. I started to learn Japanese when I was having a summer break. At that time I was very passionate to study Japanese, plus I had a lot of time to study, so I had satisfactory results. Also, Japanese is quite easy to Chinese speakers at the beginning, because Japanese Kanji (漢字) shares many similarities with Chinese, especially #TraditionalChinese characters which I’m native to. I stopped learning Japanese when I was admitted to university, as there were so much courses to take as a freshman, and I had a hard time adapting to the university life. At year 2 (Sophomore), I took Japanese courses again, as I found out my university offered such language classes. As a “busy” person, I took like 6 to 7 courses per semester, and I engaged in part-times, extra-curricular activities and volunteer experiences, I didn’t have much time to study Japanese. In addition to difficult #JapaneseGrammar and verbs, my grades were not as good as before. At year 3 (Junior), I stopped taking Japanese classes again. This time I paused for a year and a half before I took a Japanese course on exam strategies for JLPT N2. The teacher was wonderful, that I was able to regain passion in learning Japanese. As the teacher shared that some of her students passed JLPT N1 after taking her class, I was motivated to study for N1 exam. Though I registered for the N1 exam, I didn’t really have much time to study. So I focused on memorising the vocabs, and took notes for the grammar. I also tried my best to focus and took notes on Japanese lessons. Eventually I passed (barely) N1. Given that I’ve learned Japanese for such a short period, and I didn’t work hard enough, I’m still unfamiliar with many basic Japanese words.
