Easy Ways to Kitchen Witch
If you're new to the craft, or if your path is recently at a cross roads where you're feeling more drawn to kitchen witchcraft, you might be looking for some easy ways to start. So often when you picture Kitchen Witchcraft, you think of elaborate meals of baked goods beautifully decorated. And sure, that can be part of it; but if you try to make Instagram worthy food for every meal, you'll burn out real quick. So how can you Be a Kitchen Witch without braking bank or burning out?
Stirring your intentions
This is going to be brought up any time talking about Witchcraft and Food, so I figured I'd get it out of the way first. The idea being if you want to add energy or personal intention to food, so that when it's consumed the magic activates. A lot of witches swear by: Stir Clock Wise to Add, Stir Counter Clockwise to banish (Get rid of bad stuff in food). I've mentioned this before, I personally don't feel like this makes a difference. Instead, what makes a difference is stirring towards you to add Energy and intentions. Stir away from you to Banish or remove. Which direction is Towards/Away? Whatever way feels right to you.
The neat thing about stirring is you can do it with any food or drink. You don't need to be actively cooking to do some stirring. You can use a straw, a fork, a spatula; whatever. And if you have something that can't be stirred, like a slice of pizza, try turning the plate.
Candle to Raise Power
Any time you're cooking in the kitchen, or doing anything in the kitchen, consider lighting a candle. I have a round candle holder with a lid that I wash and reuse. Just plop a tea light or votive candle in there. Candles are great at heightening the energy in a room, and as someone who's struggled with depression and motivation, I've found this little ritual/routine helps gets me going.
A few tips, first you wanna make sure the candle is in a place where you can see it but not in a place where it may get in the way. I keep mine on the back of my prep counter. Next, avoid strong scented candles. Scented candles can be great for a lot of occasions, but the smell of the candle can muddle or mute the smell of the food. Finally, as with any time you use candles, please practice good fire safety.
Spell Ingredient Correlations can Carry Over to Food
Have you done extensive research on Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme? Well I got good news! All of that research was not for nothing! Herbs and Spices used in Witchcraft and Spells are commonly used in food. If you use cinnamon in a lot of your spell work for prosperity and success, try throwing some in your food with similar intentions and see how it goes.
Granted, this is not going to apply to every spell ingredient as many plants used in witchcraft are toxic. Or at the very lest can be problematic when consumed in large amounts or if pregnant. So please use some caution and common sense. A little research can take you a long way.
Simmer Pots
These are great ways to elevate your home's energy. Also a good way to use up some dried ingredients that's been laying around. A simmer pot is not anything special. You can take any small pot you got, fill it about halfway with water, add dried or fresh herbs, and leave it on the lowest heat setting on your stove, uncovered. Everything will simmer and release amazing aromas and energy. The properties of the ingredients in your pot can release into the air of your home. This can be good to do in colder months when cleaning. Just warms up everything.
Saucy Symbols and Sigils
If your oils and sauces are in easy pour bottles, consider getting a little creative when you use it. Gunna put some Ketchup or Siracha on that? Why not draw a pentacle. Oiling a pan? Maybe cook your food in a symbol of infinity or life. Or create your own symbols and meanings. Add them to your food to help elevate their magic. You may feel limited by the pour spout, but remember it comes down to intention. But if it makes you feel better, you can always transfer your sauces to bottles with more precise pour.
Make a Magic Potion
If you are not a huge fan of Cooking or Baking, remember there's still options for Kitchen Witchcraft. Magic Drinks. You can infuse your magic into syrups, juices, teas, cocktails, mocktails, smoothies, and more. There are options for people who can't consume alcohol, caffeine, dairy, sugar, any dietary restriction. I think I a lot of people write this option off because they think it focuses too much on alcohol or they don't like tea/coffee. But there's a lot of options when it comes of conjuring drinks.
Cook with Sun and Moon Water
If you're not familiar with Moon water, it's fairly easy to make. You fill a glass jar and leave it out in moonlight to charge with moon energy. Same idea for Sun Water. I find Sun Water is better for general Cooking and Moon Water is better for Teas as the energy from moon water is more mellow.
Adding some Solar Energy with Sun water to soups or to cook your rice and pasta in can help infuse your food with some Solar energy. It ups the overall energy and power of the magic in the food, as well as adds success and thus increases the chance of things working. There's also many other benefits, but listing them all might be worth their own post.
Kitchen Witchcraft is more than Cooking
I think the most important thing to remember is that Kitchen Witchcraft is not just food. Kitchens are often the heart of a home, and many things will go on and get done in a kitchen. Family meetings or get togethers may happen in the kitchen, people may do their reading or web surfing there. Or maybe it's where they do their homework or paperwork. They may do their hobbies at the table or counter. There's more than just food going on in the Kitchen.
So, feel free to expand out. Do some crafts with kitchen supplies or for your kitchen. Protective charms and garlands made out of cinnamon sticks and other items. Or just try other kinds of Magic. Maybe you like the idea of knot magic and want to try knitting a protective scarf. Or you like plants and want to get into garden magic. You don't need to stay in some box; try some stuff out!

6 Witchy Tips For Moving Into A New Home
Here are six tips for when you move into a new home!
1) Physically cleanse the space before a magical cleanse. From personal experience, I find that oftentimes cleaning the physical space removes at least 50% of the stagnant energy I'm feeling. This goes for anytime I'm about to do a magical cleanse, no matter how long I've lived in the home. Having a clean home is important and a messy home = a cluttered mind. Not only will you feel better, but it will make your magical cleanse go smoother with less work.
2) Have multiple steps to your magical cleanse. Smoke cleansing ain't gonna be enough. Come up with something that you can do on a regular basis. For example, I do a deep cleanse 1-2x a month. While I do smoke cleanse as part of it, I refresh my wards and there are several more steps (that I am choosing to not share online). Examples you can include would be a simmer pot & aromatherapy, floor washes (and a spray for the carpet), adding salt bowls to absorb negative energy, locking your mirrors, door/window washes while drawing sigils on them, refreshing your altars, lighting a protection candle & doing a simple spell, etc. Do you see how much this adds to the cleanse?
3) You don't need to sit and banish the spirits in your home. This is their home too. If they mean me no harm, they are welcome to stay and I make that very clear to them. They even have their own altar with offerings! Working with house spirits is important to me, so I make sure they feel comfortable with me being the new "caretaker". I also wait about a month before doing my first magical cleanse, making them aware of each step as I go along. Oftentimes in the future, they will assist me!
4) Set up wards, but if you plan on moving be aware that you should take them down when you go. Have a strong defensive system. If you live in an apartment have no fear, for there are many types of wards you can set up there as well! Get those ready within a month of moving.
5) Make your mini garden. If you are renting, raised garden beds are your best friend. Living in an apartment? If you have a balcony, put herbs & flowers out there. If not, prioritize the ones you want and place them on a windowsill with plenty of sunlight. This will also attract the land spirits to you & you can begin developing a better relationship with them right away.
6) Be respectful of the land and house spirits, above all else. Light a candle or incense for them here and there. Give them food & drink offerings, whenever you feel called to. Communicate with them. They can assist you in your spellwork and oftentimes will. If you create something special with them, you will have their support.

Hearth & Home Witchcraft That I've Learned
One of the biggest things that stands out to me when reading about hearth & home witchery is that everyday items are considered magical. Everyday moments, tasks, and chores as well. Its a beautiful way to live, if you really think about it. Big rituals are great, but as someone who is disabled, they rarely are doable. Here is a list of Hearth & Home Witchcraft Tips that i actually practice.
-Enchant a blanket by embroidering a sigil in the corner and using its color correspondences for your needs. It also helps me feel shielded from negative energy during meditation.
-Play music that makes you feel safe and AT HOME. This is almost like grounding, but also can be cleansing to the environment and especially the listeners. For me, its smooth jazz. The chill sound of the standup bass and the wandering piano notes that always seem to find their way to a comfortable key... its soothing to my soul.
-Talk to and about your home (kindly). So often its easy to complain about your living space. How you wish it looked or functioned differently. The house (in my belief) hears you. Treat it with kindness and gratitude for the shelter it provides. I say thank you to the house spirits and my home every morning.
-Find a convenient home protection ritual to do each month. I say convenient because if you overcomplicate things you'll feel less enthusiastic and less motivated to do it, and might even skip several months.
-Make a home cleansing spray using essential oils mixed with an appropriate amount of moon water. I like using a few drops of lemon, rosemary, lavender, and cinnamon. DO NOT spray this in the vicinity of your pets. I only use this spray in rooms where there arent any animals, to avoid complications with their health.
-Wash your bedding as often as you can and say a short incantation before you put it in the wash. It could go something like this. "I cleanse this bedding of all negative energy, from bad dreams, and from and all stress." Sleep is so important to your sense of safety and wellbeing at home.
-Open the damn windows when you can! Stagnant energy is known for dragging down people's moods. And there's nothing quite as uplifting as fresh air. This provides a healthy flow to your house's energy.
-Don't bring things in your home unless you want to incorporate their energy into your environment. This is something that's often overlooked. I especially advise heavy consideration when it comes to thrifting items and bringing them home. Try practicing sensing the energy of items so you can easily tell whats good to bring home and whats not. Thrifting is great! Im not discouraging it btw.
-Fresh flowers work miracles. Not only do they aesthetically brighten the room, but their correspondences and magical properties apply to the room that they're in. Sunflowers are a great example of a flower that encourages positivity, and are extremely affordable to get lots of them. Roses are a bit more expensive usually, but they invite that loving vibe. And African irises are great for psychic enhancement.
Thats all for this post! Reblog it if you found it helpful, or have any of your own cool practices for hearth & home witchcraft to share!

Moment's Silence
Geralt (finally) tries to apologise.
self-inflicted pain; referenced past trauma; implied disordered eating habits; spoilers for twn s2
read on ao3
Jaskier sighs as he leans against Geralt, letting his head rest against the witcher’s shoulder.
He isn’t sure how long the two of them simply sit together, eyes closed and not a word said between them. Usually, it would be impossible for Geralt to enjoy a moment’s silence with the bard at his side, what with his ever present talks of nobility and whatnot, his halfwitted quips and sing-songy theatrics.
But now, Jaskier is tired. The events of the past weeks are weighing heavily on him, despite his best efforts to appear as unbothered as ever. In his mind’s eye he can still see the bodies of the fallen witchers - Geralt’s comrades, his brothers - in the hall of Khaer Morhen.
He still sees the crazed mage’s face before him and, though his burned hand had started to heal, he still winces whenever he gets just a little too close to an open flame.
He was so tired, so exhausted, to the point where even standing up straight felt like a chore to him. He told himself he was successful in presenting himself as the cheerful poet he was known to be.
Of course, he was wrong.
“Jaskier-” his name leaves Geralt’s lips quickly, hurriedly, as if he had tried to say it for hours now and was afraid he might never be able to say it if he waited even a second longer.
Instead of an answer, the bard lets out a short hum, as if to confirm he was listening. He doesn’t open his eyes, still leaning against his companion. Part of him curses Geralt for speaking up, denying him the smallest bit of tranquillity he’s experienced in weeks.
He doesn’t see Geralt opening and closing his mouth several times, trying, struggling to find the right words.
“I’m sorry, Jaskier.”
Well shit, now he has to say something. “It’s fine, Geralt, you’ve apologised already.” He doesn’t want to have this conversation now. The index finger of his left hand feels like it’s on fire again.
“No, I haven’t,” Geralt insists, “at least not properly. And you deserve a proper apology. You deserve.. you deserve an explanation.”
He goes quiet again, for a moment. It feels like an eternity to Jaskier.
“I wish I could give you an explanation.”
The silence that follows feels anticipatory, as if the witcher is waiting for him to say something. Maybe he expects a similar conversation to the one they had in Oxenfurt.
Whatever reaction it is he is waiting for, he doesn’t get it. Jaskier nods, a nod that Geralt easily would have missed, were it not for his heightened senses. He opens his eyes, but doesn’t move his head from Geralt’s shoulder.
His thumb grazes the tip of his index finger, barely noticeable at first, then lightly presses down on it. Sharp pain shoots through his hand. He presses his fingers together again.
“That day. I was angry and I was frustrated and- I took it out on you. You didn’t deserve that.”
He continues putting pressure on his scarred appendage as the pain spreads to his middle finger.
“I didn’t think you’d actually leave. I didn’t… want you to leave. Jaskier, I-”
“Geralt,” the bard raises his head, a tired smile on his lips. His voice is low and raspy, as if he hadn’t spoken in days, “please. Stop.”
A puzzled look is spread over Geralt’s face as he turns to face Jaskier. “No, Jask, I need you to know-”
“That you didn’t mean it? That you regret it? I know all that. Please, Geralt, don’t…” The rest of his sentence is lost as Jaskier’s voice grows soft. The words sound like a plea. He shuts his eyes tightly, just for a moment, as he digs his nails into the scarred skin of his palm. The pain is overwhelming, but this way he doesn’t have to feel the way Geralt’s piercing gaze seems to linger on him.
He takes a deep breath in, lets the cold air fill his lungs. He holds his breath, then releases it with a sigh. Not the kind of exasperated, theatrical sigh Geralt is used to hearing from him. This sounds weak and defeated.
“I’m tired, I’m really fucking tired. And I don’t want to talk about what happened on that mountain. I don’t want to talk at all.”
This is definitely a first. They both think it and can’t help but smile. They know the other is thinking it, too.
“We don’t have to talk. Not right now, at least.” Geralt takes another, closer look at his bard. Until now, he hadn’t noticed just how exhausted he really looked. His once-bright eyes were now pools of dull bluish grey, with dark circles serving as evidence of his apparent insomnia. “Do you want me to bring you to your room?”
Jaskier shakes his head a little too quickly. “I’d like to stay here. With you.”
Geralt nods, inching closer to him. He looks thinner, too. The witcher makes a mental note of it, deciding to make sure his companion eats full meals from now on. He reaches out his right hand and, carefully, unclenches Jaskier’s fist.
“No more of that.” he mutters, voice stern but kind as he takes Jaskier’s hand into his own, the bard’s injured palm facing upwards. “You need to let your hand heal.”
Jaskier chews the inside of his lip and mumbles unintelligible words of agreement. His head is already resting on his witcher’s shoulder again and he’s struggling to keep his eyes open.
“Comfortable?”
“Hmm.. very.” His voice is barely more than a whisper as he allows himself to close his eyes again.
