Testing the field recording on the loop through the pedal to give it more of an industrial sound for the installation. I will make the loop longer for the piece and have a metallic structure for the loop to loop around adding to aesthetic.

Heres a documentary on the drive that really inspired me about visuals , called Abstract cinema by Keith Griffiths , spanning from visuals from the 30s to 90s showcasing some of the earl works of animators and abstract painters who made the crossover to film which they made sound visuals which they used there paintings which were projected onto film creating great abstract moving image. Some of the artists include Oskar Fischinger , Charles Dockrum , John and James Whitney and Len Lye. They created some great abstract pieces and compositions to match

Heres a video of a tape loop I did for the work in progress show , there things I would change moving forward I would to have an evolving tape loop that changes and uses the sounds of the space incorporated. For this I recorded over and over on tape loop which give it the disintegration loop sound I used two tape recorders playing at different points. I would also think about how people would connect with it making it more visual.

I have been looking at William Basinski and his work with the technique of disintegrating tape using loops , here in the interview he said some things about covering the erase head and just recording , which relates to me and what I have been experimenting with. He also says “I moved to San Francisco and started listening to all of his records and reading all of his art books and learning about art. How do you look at art; what is art; how do you think about it; how do you let it resonate…”.Which is something I’m beginning to ask myself about the artistic decisions I make thinking why I decided to use a certain instrument or made a certain technical decision.

Heres a video of a tape loop I'm preparing for the mid way show , going through two cassette players. Im going to experiment further with looking at trying to do a tape loop feedback with a microphone as well.

Terry Riley talking about tape loops and his inspirations and I like the fact he says he's an antenna and the music comes to him as when you start playing something you don't really have much then your ideas seem to grow and come to you.

here's a video of a tape loop I made going round my chair, I'm starting to explore making larger loops thinking about how I can display them within a space I'm going experiment further making different structures to have the loops looping round them.

Ive been thinking more on the visual aspect and how I feel about the tape being an organic sound and having the visuals pre recorded loses a bit of that, therefore Ive been thinking of the idea of making these and having the tape loop spin it around which will make it more apart of the piece and will regain its organic physical appearance. Im going to start to test this and make some of my own .

Here's some slides that I will be using for the visual aspect , as well as some slides I've made myself. I still need to get in a space where I can use the combination of the two projectors.

Audio
Here is an audio file over a tape loop I made of a more darker tone to further this I would add more feedback and have more drone noise.
