This thought occurred to me yesterday, but after the announcement I forgot to post it.

So the 300th episode ended with John waking up in the car with memories of this crazy “dream” right. And Sam had just left for Stanford in his timeline, and It was just him and Dean. Now, what if this was the start?

The start of John going off on his own and keeping more secrets and him “separating” himself from his sons - that led us to the very first episode where John has been missing and Dean fetches Sammy?

Because in episode 300 the boys gave him a brief synopsis of everything that had happened to them so far. Important tidbits of information- “You said if I couldn’t save him I’d have to kill him”, “you sold your soul for me”, “we ended that yellow eyed bastard” and “we got mom back”.

So what if this “dream” is why John told Dean what he did at the beginning of season 2? What if that’s why he didn’t hesitate to give in to the yellow eyed bastard and sell his soul? Because he knew in the grand scheme of things that everything would work out, his boys would be fine without him, and they would get their mom back.

He knew it wasn’t a dream. And it brought their entire lives full circle…. anyone else have thoughts?
