summary : you and luke bask in your togetherness the night after you get married.

"luke alvez," you whisper, softly running the tip of your forefinger down his nose. your hand falls to the nape of his neck, but your eyes never leave his. in this moment, like many, you're entranced by his features, which now lie so close to your own that they'd blend together should you get any nearer.

"sí, amor?"

you've hear luke talk kind and gentle a million times before—to you after a hard day, to frightened friends, to anyone at all who might be down on their luck—but somehow you feel like you've never heard him talk as soft as he did just now. a simple yes, love? and you're melting into the sheets. even better, you're melting into him; his arms, his chest.

"amor," you repeat, a sweet smile tugging at your lips. any movement is hard to catch in this lighting—soft, warm, and sparse with only one lit lamp—but luke notices everything about you, so he sees that little smile. he hears it in your voice too, as you mumble, "te quiero."

he cups your cheeks in both hands, sheets and pillows rustling with the movement. you get a long, lingering kiss to the forehead. those are his favorite words to hear on your lips. maybe te amo is technically used for a deeper affection in terms of i love you's in spanish. te quiero is more casual, but it's his favorite with you because of its literal translation. i want you. now he feels those words more than ever. you want him so much that you've really, really chosen him. you want him so much that you married him today.

"te quiero tambien," he breaths into your skin with all the reverence he can muster. i want you, too; it's like a second 'i do.'

the sort of 'i do' that you save for after the sun has gone down and you're tangled up, sweaty under the sheets in your shared bed. the kind that's just for the two of you, a ceremony even holier than the first.

it's the easiest thing in the world to kiss him in that moment, long, languid, and loving. in fact, it would have been much harder to hold back from marrying your lips to his. kissing is extra nice when all of you is married to all of him. so you don't stop kissing him until you can't breathe. and once you catch your breath, you kiss him again and again.

you're not sure you'll get much sleep tonight, if any, but neither of you mind. why not extend your wedding day for as long as you can?

"luke?"

"sí, amor?"

"nothing." the word comes out as a whisper and a laugh all at once. "i just wanted to hear you say that again. i love it when you say that… 'sí, amore.'"

luke lets out a whispery laugh of his own.

"sí, amor? you like that?" he says again, to tease and to please you.

"mmm. sí, amor. i like it. you'll say it to me all the time, now that we're married?"

he answers with a kiss that drags out even longer than the way you said 'all the time.'

"sí, amor. i will."

coming home to their shared apartment in metropolis after a tiring day at work. at least things are done, though. deadlines were met and it's time to rest up. cuddling up on the couch with him, drinking some wine and reading an informative or comforting book, the atmosphere warm with gentle and quiet touches. it's the perfect way to unwind. when they get sleepy they head to bed and talk for a bit, face to face in the dark, not wanting it to end.

i just keep thinking about quiet intimacy with him and those cherished, unspoken moments. reading a draft of what he's working on as he stumbles around and makes tea. dancing around the apartment as they cook dinner. being embraced by him as he flies. card games & friday nights. ❤️💭

i think domestic moments are just my favorite to think about with him, and i think it's his favorite moments with you!! he feels so so comfortable and at ease during these moments and he's so very grateful for them and for you!! though he lives to save lives and he wouldn't have things any other way, much of his life is ruled by chaos. and he knows how to deal with that chaos, but he finds those soft, quietly intimate moments so so precious.
