If you’re an adult, do the stuff you couldn’t as a kid.

Like, me and my sister went to a museum, and they had an extra exhibit of butterflies. But it cost £3. So we sighed, walked past, then stopped. We each had £3. We could see the butterflies. And we did it was great. We followed it up with an ice-cream as well because Mum and Dad weren’t there to say no.

I was driving back from a work trip with 2 other people in their early 20s, and we drove past a MacDonalds. One of the others went “Aww man, I’d love a McFlurry.” And the guy driving pulled in to the drive through. It was wild. But it was great.

I went to a park over the weekend and I was thinking “Man, I’d love to hire one of those bikes and cycle round the park.” It took me a few minutes to go “Wait, I can hire one of those bikes!”

I guess what I’m saying is, those impulsive things you wanted to do as a kid - see the dinosaur exhibit, play in the fountains with the other kids, lie in the shade for 2 hours - you can do when you’re an adult. You have to deal with a whole lot of other bull, but at least you can indulge your inner 8 year-old.

Honestly, I think the whole “don’t pay the writers” thing boils down to the notion that everybody thinks they can write. It’s the old saw about the novelist at a cocktail party having to hear someone say, for the millionth time, “I’d love to write a book someday.”

Someone–Stephen King? Pretty sure I saw this in a Stephen King foreword–once said they’d like to say to a brain surgeon, “Boy, I’d love to do brain surgery someday.”

We treat “the ability to put words into a sentence” like it’s just the same as “the ability to form a coherent narrative that engenders a variety of emotions within the reader and puts them in a scene and shows them what they didn’t see before”.

And that’s like me drawing a stick figure and saying I’m an artist.

Writers are constantly devalued because everyone thinks they have a book in them and don’t realize the level of skill and commitment it takes to finish even a short story, much less a whole book. 

This goes well beyond fandom, but man, I would’ve hoped fandom would know better.

I need pinning tsukkiyama where either yamaguchi knows tsukki likes him and waits patiently for him to confess or tsukishima realise that yams have a tiny crush on him and runs along with it for years. Either way, I’m loving both of these headcanons.

A Yamaguchi who silently smiles when he notices tsukki gazing at him lovingly. A Yamaguchi who pretends to sleep because tsukki is so concentrated on the freckles on his face. A Yamaguchi who blushes when he realise how intense tsukki is staring at his naked back. A Yamaguchi who shivers when tsukki unconsciously touches the back of his neck or a soft spot of his. A Yamaguchi who evilly laughs in his head when he sees tsukki stutter because of him. A Yamaguchi who smiles softly at a trying tsukki who’s coming to terms with his feelings. A soft, adorable, little piece of shit Yamaguchi who likes to tease tsukki and watch him struggle.

A Tsukishima who smirks at a blushing yamaguchi. A Tsukishima who’s smug because of the frown Yamaguchi wears when he gets confessed to. A Tsukishima who tease Yamaguchi to no end like doing the kabedon thing or ruffling his hair or just making any sort of physical contact. A Tsukishima who politely declines many girl’s invitations and offers to go out because he’s waiting for Yamaguchi’s confession. A Tsukishima who likes to press his chest close to Yamaguchi’s back while he helps him with homework because he’s a sadist and kikes to watch Yanaguchi squirm. A Tsukishima who likes to watch every move of Yamaguchi because he knows it makes him uncomfortable and blush like mad. A shit - eating grin Tsukishima who likes to drink Yamaguchi’s waterbottle right after he uses it and they indirectly kiss and he likes to use Yamaguchi’s own sweaty towel or give Yamaguchi’s his instead.

Give me childhood friends who knows that the other likes them or has a crush on them and has a party over it by being a little shit. Give me childhood friends who knows just the right buttons to push. Give me childhood friends who actually tries to help their friend who’s crushing on them. Like, gently pushing the other to confess. Or giving thm info on what their weekend is going to be like. Or dropping little hints of their relationship status. Or loudly proclaiming what type of person they like. Or maybe actually describe how cute the other is being with their crush on them without saying their name.

Scrubland/Dry Forests. For extra effect make them the sort that burn very often; some native plants never germinate until after a fire, and some animals not only rely on fire to smoke out prey, but may even start them themselves.

Temperate Rainforests. I almost didn’t include this bc New Zealand is covered in them, and that’s where they filmed Lord of the Rings. But tbh, no one really knows about them, so it belongs here

Barren Tundra, perfect for some extreme seasonal dichotomy

Desert-Grasslands (arguably the same as Scrubland but Australia’s good at adding its own twists)

I have this planner with these absolutely ridiculous pages with like “motivational” quotes on them that are just these bullshit things like “Let your heart sing” and “Always believe in your dreams”

and like that’s always struck me as such meaningless bullshit, I’ve always hated those. They’ve never had that element that truly motivates me.
