Dental Care - Who's Afraid To Go?
Tumblr media
When is a good time to introduce your child to a dentist? I would strongly suggest that you introduce your children to a dentist before they had any problems with their teeth. You want them to start out with a positive experience - thus, lessening the possibility of any dentist phobias. Go ahead and laugh - I'm one of those people who developed an early fear of dentists.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
My First Experience
I was very young, and one of my baby teeth became abscessed - not a pleasant feeling. Anyway, it was my father's duty to take me to the dentist. In the dentist office, I was told to swish some strong, green liquid in my mouth and spit it out. I was to do that until all the liquid in the glass was gone - then go back to the dentist chair and sit down.
I, being the obedient child, did as I was told. I swished and spit, and once done, climbed into the dentist chair. I did not have a clue of what was going to happen next, until of course, the dentist told me to open my mouth and began to pull my tooth out. Low and behold, the green liquid I had swished in my mouth was the antiseptic! Well, surprise, surprise - it didn't work!
With my father holding me down in the chair, I felt every pain, heard every grinding sound - and the experience remained alive and strong in my memory--a memory that followed me throughout my childhood and into adulthood.
After that experience, my love for the dentist and the very sound of a drill would put me into a panic. No matter how I rationalized it, no matter how much I told myself how stupid I was for feeling the fear - it would not go away.
My Experience As An Adult
It took me a long time to overcome my fear of dentists. I finally found a dentist who I could talk too, and say, "Hey, this is the experience I had - this is the fear I have - can I trust you not to hurt me." Well, my dentist understood my fears - and I'm happy to say that I felt that if he could calm my fears I could trust him with my young boys.
When To Take Your Children To The Dentist?
When do you take your children to the dentist? Before they have any cavities or any other ugly problems. Take your children to the dentist to have their teeth cleaned and looked at - let the comfort level build between your child and your dentist. So when there are any problems with their teeth - they know the dentist won't hurt them.
That is what I did for my children. I set them up with my dentist before they had any problems. I did not want them to have the same fears that I had. And it seemed to have worked.

Bad Breath And How To Tell If You Have It!
Tumblr media
How to check if your breath is kiss-able fresh or is bad enough to stop a clock on the other side of the world no matter how clean and white your smile
OK, here's the scoop on bad breath or as it's more formally called, halitosis. Smelly breath has ruined more romantic evenings than your white and bright teeth will ever make happen. It's not to the point where I would say that if you ever hope to have a romantic, hot, passionate night with your favorite loved one, you're got to have a fresh mouth, but it's close.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
Notice this will NOT be a typical spiel saying that breath doesn't matter considering what's done during those romantic adventures. Considering where our mouths usually end up during those trysts with our significant other, I can hear some guys say what's the difference?
The difference is that someone with clean and fresh breath has a much greater chance of being kissed than someone with halitosis. To get interest from someone, we can't offend them! This means clean is preferred to smelly, and this goes especially for your mouth and fingernails. A clean mouth with white teeth and a great smile suggest a healthy person. Odors, especially here in the United States have a negative connotation and are not considered positive.
So without further ado, let's take a look at how we can check our breath. One of the best ways to tell if you're breath is "less than great", is to ask a friend or close relative to just smell your mouth. Have them check to be sure the smell is coming from your mouth and NOT your nose. If the odor is from your nose, it's probably coming from your upper nasal passage. This can indicate an infection or sinus problem that should probably be looked at by your doctor. If the odor is from your mouth, chances are that a good cleaning can make your breath smell fresh and pleasant. An effective halitosis treatment is good dental health. Good breath by the way is actually neutral in smell.
The main causes of halitosis is poor dental hygiene. Food particles get stuck between your teeth then start to rot and smell. By regularly seeing your dentist and keeping up a regimen of brushing and flossing daily, halitosis will disappear as if by magic.
Assuming the odor is coming from your mouth, the next question would be what kind of odor? If the smell is a definite food type odor, a good brushing, flossing and mouthwash will do the trick. If however, the odor is more of rotting or definite unpleasant smell, it's time for a more comprehensive cleaning.
Now if you don't have a good friend to check you breath, I have another idea that works almost as good.
Stick a clean finger in your mouth and rub your tongue as far back as possible WITHOUT making yourself gag. This will collect the saliva, bacteria and odor from your tongue. Next, run the saliva on the back of your hand and wait about a minute then smell your hand. If not something YOU would like to kiss, time to get out the toothbrush, dental floss and mouthwash.
You can have the whitest teeth and a bright smile but without dealing with bad mouth odor, no one will want to get around you. don't let dull teeth or smelly breath lower your kiss-ability potential!

Dental Pain Explained
Tumblr media
Often people experience dental pain due to different reasons, however the most common reason for any tooth ache or dental pain is caused by inflamed gums or irritated nerves in your teeth. Inflamed tissues in the mouth can also contribute to toothache and sore gums. Dental pain can be caused by many different reasons such as, cavities, broken teeth, infected tooth pulp, and bacteria infections.
Because diseases like cavities, gingivitis and periodontitis involve a bacterial infection, that bacteria can be spread to others during kissing, from sharing straws, or when sharing a toothbrush.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
Dental pain is a symptom that something is wrong and should be checked by a dentist. The only way to stop the pain permanently is to have the problem corrected. A sever abscess is not only very painful but can also lead to death if left untreated.
One of the most common reasons for a toothache is caused by cavities. When bacteria builds up in the mouth plaque forms around the teeth. The bacteria in the plaque convert the sugars in food to acids that eat away at the protective enamel layer of the tooth If the cavity is left untreated, it will continue to grow and eventually reach the nerve of the tooth causing, in most cases, severe pain.
Infections of the gum, or periodontal disease, are also another common cause of dental pain. The same plaque that contributes to cavities can irritate the gums, making them inflame then recede to expose the cementum. Periodontal disease can lead to chronic inflammation of the tissues in the mouth.
Gingivitis and periodontitis are two basic types of periodontal disease. Gingivitis is the most common gum disease and is characterized by an inflammation of the gums, or gingiva. When plaque forms on teeth, the adjacent gums become swollen and red and can become extremely painful. Their are several types of Gingivitis and all must be treated to relive pain.
Ordinary Gingivitis - swollen red gums that bleed easily and bad breath. If left untreated the condition can progress.
Drug-induced Gingivitis - a side effect of many drugs.
Acute Necrotizing Ulcerative Gingivitis - an acute infection characterized by tissue death, spontaneous bleeding, rapid pain onset and a bad mouth odor.
Hormone-Influenced Gingivitis - Affects pregnant women, children, and women using oral contraceptives.
Desquamative gingivitis - Typically a result of an allergic reaction or of skin diseases. Peeling gum tissue with a red and painful surface.
Until one can seek dental care, over-the-counter ibuprofen will help relieve dental pain. Motrin Ibuprofen is effective for dental pain because ibuprofen reduces pain caused by inflammation. You may also find that rinsing your mouth with warm salty water may also help..
If your mouth is sensitive to warm or cold in the mouth, try using ice packs on your face for 24 hours and after that warm heat. Typically 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off will also help reduce dental pain. Avoid sugary or crunchy foods when you are experiencing dental pain, as both can cause additional pain.
DO NOT listen to old wives tails and put aspirin on your hurting tooth! It may burn your dental tissue and can cause even more pain.
Seek dental care as soon as possible. Untreated dental issues can lead into even more problems and pain if they are left untreated.

Gingivitis is Serious
Tumblr media
Gingivitis and what it can evolve into are responsible for the majority of tooth loss in the world. Most of us would very much like to avoid the use of false teeth or implants. At a New Year's Eve party, one man said, "there is no substitute for your own teeth".
Gingivitis is silent, it sneaks up on us. It can cause trouble for years and then one day, we realize that our gums have receded to the point that something has to be done or we will lose a tooth or teeth.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Besa, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
We then must go to a periodontist and spend large amounts of cash to make things right again. The bone and supporting tissue structure can be restored but it takes some work and expense to make it happen. A lot of people, both professional and lay, believe the damage that can be caused by gingivitis is often preventable.
Do you believe that brushing and flossing are enough to prevent gum disease? Why do so many people with great oral care habits still get gingivitis? In fact, a large proportion of people all over the world are suffering from some degree of gingivitis or periodontal disease right now.
Even if we just focus on the countries that have abundant supplies of readily accessible dental floss and toothpaste, it still holds true that too many suffer from some form of gum disease.
Approximately 2% of people are not going to get gingivitis, they seem to have a natural immunity to it. That leaves 98% of us who could experience some form of gingivitis, either mild or severe in our lifetimes.
The vast majority of tooth loss is due to gum disease. So how do we take better care of our gums?
The answer may be in oral irrigation. Shooting a stream of water around the neck of the tooth, may help to clean the gum tissue, removing harmful bacteria.
When the bacteria form colonies around or below the gum line, it can irritate the gums, causing them to pull away from the tooth. When this happens, the entire structure, including the bone that supports the tooth will begin to erode.
As time goes by the gum tissue may pull further away from the tooth. Creating ever greater opportunities for more bacteria to exploit.
See how this may become a vicious cycle? The problem might feed upon itself.
However, many people believe that a daily cleaning around the neck of the tooth with a jet of water will help to control gingivitis. If this is true, wouldn't it be worth it to use an irrigator?
To give you an example of how severe this problem can become a woman recently wrote to me and told me that she finds blood in her mouth when she wakes up in the morning because her gums bleed. If anyone is in a situation like this, he should go to a dentist or doctor immediately. This is a serious situation and needs to be addressed professionally as soon as possible.
Actually, if you have or believe you might have gingivitis or any other health condition, you should consult your dentist or doctor for diagnosis and treatment right away. This article is not intended to provide advice in any way.

Causes of and Treatments For Chronic Bad Breath
Tumblr media
Everyone experiences bad breath from time to time, however it's estimated that up to 25% of adults suffer from chronic bad breath. There are many contributing factors to halitosis and most are not serious, usually arising from the growth of oral bacteria.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
Oral hygiene does in fact contribute to the majority of malodorous conditions in the mouth. Eating certain kinds of foods including garlic, onion and curry are notorious for causing bad breath. These foods, after circulating through the bloodstream, exit the body through the lungs and eventually the mouth. They tasted good deal better going down and they do coming up.
Also any condition which causes the drying of the mouth will contribute to unpleasant breath. Saliva is a natural digestive enzyme. Anything that inhibits saliva production will create a fertile breeding ground for the bacteria that reside on the back of your teeth and tongue. These bacteria, found in plaque, produce a sulfur compound which most people tend to find unpleasant.
Conditions which contribute to the drying of saliva include many medications, especially diuretics, antihistamines, antidepressants and many of the new drugs that are blasted all over the television. Check the contraindications on any medication you are considering purchasing to see if one of its side effects is dry mouth.
Another condition contributing to dry mouth and the resultant halitosis is age. As we get older, we seem to produce less saliva, enabling the bacteria to grow and the breath of many seniors to become less fresh.
Improved oral hygiene will eliminate most unpleasant breath. Dentists recommend brushing after every meal for a minimum of three minutes and of course, flossing at least daily. It's also recommended that you purchase a new toothbrush every three or four months.
One can also eliminate normal bad breath by increasing your fluid intake, and rinsing your mouth after eating any dairy product fish product or meat product. The added consumption of fibrous vegetables is also recommended.
It's also important to clean your tongue. This can be done with a toothbrush or a tongue scraper. Mouthwash will work as well.
So far we've discussed only normal, average every day bad breath, not chronic bad breath. It's estimated however that a percentage of bad breath is caused by more serious dental conditions, such as gum disease. If you're experiencing chronic foul breath, and the cause is gum disease, it will not be getting any better without intervention from a dentist. The sooner you visit a dentist, the sooner the problem will be eliminated.Your dentist has many options for eliminating malodorous gum disease.
Chronic bad breath isn't always produced in the mouth though. Chronic bad breath could also be a symptom of a larger medical condition. Indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, lactose intolerance, food allergies may all contribute to producing that unpleasant odor in your mouth.
My advice is to attend to basic and appropriate oral hygiene as a first-line of defense. If you do not believe the problems to be dental, or dietary, a trip to your physician is your next step, for chronic bad breath may affect more than just your social life it may be an alarm bell which if not answered will impact your health and very life as well.

Why Is Tooth Whitening So Popular?
Tumblr media
Everywhere we look now we see people with bright, luminescent smiles and teeth. Rarely do we see anyone with yellow, discolored teeth on TV anymore. Some of the actors have smiles so white and bright that it looks fake and you know they had their teeth whitened.
The popular sitcom Friends even did a spoof on teeth whitening where one of the characters teeth were so white after treatment that they glowed in the dark like they were irradiated. So, what actually is tooth or dental whitening, how much does it cost, why is it so popular, and what kind of results can one expect?
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar , Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
Basically, tooth or dental whitening is a controlled oxygen bleaching of the tooth enamel. As any good dentist will tell you it works better on some than others and not everyone is a good candidate (kind of like with laser eye surgery). It will not work on any fake teeth like porcelain veneers, ceramic implants, etc. It only works on real teeth. The main ingredient is either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide which are both oxidizers and will bleach tooth enamel.
Over the counter kits and products generally have a low percentage of the main oxidizing ingredient (usually in the range of 2 to 6%). This is minimally effective at best. Dentists, plastic and oral surgeons will use a 30 to 35% solution and will add to this a high power blue or white plasma or laser light to hyper increase the oxidizing activity of the treatment.
The difference is that the over the counter kits and products may, after many treatments, whiten your teeth 1 to 2 shades whereas the in office treatments like Zoom (one of the most popular name brands for professional teeth whitening today) will in a hour or so whiten the teeth 8 to 14 shades. This is an enormous difference, but also there is a big price that comes with this in office whitening (usually $400 to $500 and most insurance companies do not cover this treatment).
Also, another thing to watch out for is many dentists are using the whitening to lure customers into unnecessary and expensive treatments above and beyond the whitening. Many people are finding that when they make the appointment for the whitening that the dentist tells them they need their remaining wisdom teeth removed, cavities treated even when there are none, and numerous other non routine requirements like deep cleaning requiring anesthesia for someone whom has no cavities or gum disease.

Healthy Kids - Dental Health And Hard Candy
Tumblr media
Kids these days have a myriad of candy to choose from, but hard candy is a particular concern because they may be a dental health issue. Dentists say that sweet hard candies can contribute to teeth decay and cavities because of the sugar content and how long they stay in a person's mouth. Parents should really limit the amount of hard candy their kids consume, but that doesn't mean that kids can't have any candy. It's no secret that children love sweets, but dentists recommend that they shouldn't have it after they brush their teeth.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar , Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
An effective way for parents to get their kids to brush twice a day is to allow them to eat a piece of candy like Jolly Rancher Hard Candy - Original Flavors candy right before they brush in order to encourage healthy teeth habits. Also, when someone consumes a piece of hard candy right before they brush, the amount of decay and the risk of getting cavities is greatly reduced because brushing gets rid of the remains of the candy that may stay in a person's mouth for hours.
Eating hard candy like Hostess Mix assorted hard candies on a regular basis may actually have negative long term results whether you're a child or an adult. For children, it might be OK for parents to allow them to eat candy before their baby teeth fall out because they have naturally fast metabolisms that will counter balance the sugar and fat and their adult teeth won't be damaged. But after they have their adult teeth, parents really have to be careful.
Eating soft candies and chocolates is also damaging to people's teeth. Eating chocolates like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures also causes tooth decay and ups the chance of cavities. Of course, soft candies are often better than the hard candies because they do not stay in the person's mouth as long.
Parents shouldn't worry because there is a solution to all this. There are tons of products out there that are sugarless. These hard candies are not actually damaging to peoples' teeth because they don't cause tooth decay. These candies are sweetened by artificial sweeteners that cause very little damage to peoples' teeth. When parents choose gum or candy for their kids, they should choose sugarless hard candy without telling their kids. They probably won't even be able to tell the difference. Also, they won't get as hyper because of the sugar intake.

How To Stop Bad Breath Once and For All
Tumblr media
Bad Breath is something that we have had to deal with one way or another. From morning breath to eating spicy foods our breath changes throughout the day. But what happens when we talk to someone when we have bad breath?
If you have been on the receiving end of bad breath you know how revolting the smell can be. Coffee breath is one thing but someone who smells like they never brush their teeth in a few years is another thing.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Besa, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
Brushing 2-3 times a day is a start, but if you are like me brushing alone makes your breath worse. So you gurgle mouthwash, did you know that the alcohol in mouthwash dries your mouth and can worsen your breath? Ick.
So you follow up with gum throughout the day and or mints. But this only masks the odor, so when that "fresh" taste is gone the bad breath is back. This is also great for your dentist, who loves you now, because most gum and mints have sugar which means cavities which means even worse smelling breath.
So what can you and I do about our bad breath? I was embarrassed by having bad breath. And I had been teased about it or even avoided because of bad breath. I searched for anything that would cure this. Gums, mints, mouthwash changing diet it seemed hopeless.
But my persistence lead me to a few things that worked for me. If they work for you as they did for me I think you will be happy and so will those around you. Bad breath is something that you will always have to deal with but with the right treatment you can control it without giving yourself cavities.

Laser Teeth Whitening Over Other Dental Bleaching Treatments
Tumblr media
Laser teeth whitening is actually power or light-accelerated bleaching, since it does not really use a laser, which has been outdated by other more effective technologies. The procedure uses the power of light, which can be halogen, LED or plasma arc. The light is needed to stimulate the bleaching level of your teeth. It has become a popular choice for people who have discolored teeth, because it is a procedure that's quick, painless and effective.
Salankar Dental clinic is the Best Dental Clinic in Manish Nagar, Nagpur. We provide extensive dental treatment in Nagpur visit our dental clinic
This cosmetic dental solution starts with the application of a whitening gel that contains hydrogen peroxide. The laser or light source will then be directed towards your teeth to increase the penetration of the whitening gel into your teeth enamel. This enhances the effects of tooth bleaching - that is, taking away the yellow stains that may have been caused by nicotine, coffee, other teeth-staining food, or lack of dental hygiene.
Since the latest technological advances have enabled this type of dental procedure to perform effectively with minimal heat and UV emissions, the whole treatment can now be completed in a single visit to the dentist that would last only about an hour or less. Most patients do not require follow-up visits after the procedure. This is one reason why many people choose laser dental bleaching over teeth whitening strips or trays. The latter may be much cheaper, but it would require you to do the whitening routine for about twice a day for a week or so just to begin seeing major results.
Whitening solutions using laser or light-source equipment is beneficial to people who are busy or who simply prefer hassle-free treatments. After the procedure, you don't need to put any other gel on your teeth. You do not have to perform other dental rituals every night, unlike when you're using bleaching trays or other home dental whitening solutions.
However, compared to the prices of other types of dental bleaching treatments, laser teeth whitening cost is usually higher. Many people believe, though, that the difference in costs isn't too significant, since laser treatment doesn't require you to buy any other gel or equipment to put on your teeth anymore after that single visit to your dentist.
The effect of this technologically advanced treatment is expected to last for a year or two. Of course, you need to observe general care for your teeth. Among other things, you should brush regularly and avoid taking coffee, tea and other teeth-straining drinks and food. As long as you take proper maintenance of your teeth, you'll be able to maximize the benefits of your laser teeth whitening treatment.
