SHORT STORIES, my favorite kind of poetry ( meme ).
SIX WORDS .
â i heard you were doing good. â â you donât grow your horns overnight. â â i promise, it gets better eventually. â â & we never talked after that. â â am i really, truly, that unlovable? â â donât talk like youâre coming back. â â my most dangerous habit is trusting. â â weâre made of stars & stories. â â you didnât have to do that. â â everything is poetry when youâre drunk. â â did i mean anything to you? â â real feelings donât just go away. â â you came & changed the weather. â â when can you just be mine? â â there was no love, only lust. â â darling, stop wishing on dead stars. â â art is another form of screaming. â â silence is the most painful goodbye. â â what the fuck did you do? â â iâm drunk, dizzy & missing you. â â kiss me like youâre losing me. â â i donât feel like smiling today. â â not all good people are innocent. â â weâre a disaster in the making. â â some things are better left unsaid. â â we really shouldâve talked about it. â â iâm so glad i met you. â â i wish i knew you earlier. â â i fucked (pronoun/name) to our song. â â i dreamed of you this night. â
TEN WORDS .
â you saw the messed up parts of me, & stayed. â â all iâve ever wanted was for someone to save me. â â since you left, i have no one to talk to. â â i apologize for the nights in which i cannot breathe. â â everytime i look at you, i want to kiss you. â â we said no strings attached but now weâre in knots. â â thereâs a difference between missing someone & missing having someone. â â for which f are you drinking? fuck, forget, or fun? â â my biggest mistake was thinking i could live without (pronoun/name). â â whenever (name/pronoun) rose to kiss me, i fell even more. â â i wish that âgoodnightâ was followed by âi love youâ. â â letâs smoke a pack of mentholds & talk about love. â â your deep, sleepy voice makes me feel like iâm okay. â â i read both of our horoscopes looking for an answer â â reality is the absolute last place i want to be. â â i didnât expect that drunk kiss could mean this much. â â all i need is a late night drive with you. â â feeling pain is nowhere near as terrifying as feeling nothing. â â your eyes are the color of summer fading into autumn. â â you are the warmest home i will ever, ever find. â â the world is less scary when i am with you. â â i still canât tell which of us was the victim. â â i just need an excuse to hang out with you. â â your expectations for me have been set way too high. â â i donât want to feel this way about anyone else. â

cabctsâ:
this time when sage pipes up, the astonishment barely registers. billy, on the other hand, was practically soiling himself, palms shaking as he gapes at the hostess in wide-eyed horror. â friendliness doesnât earn michelin stars, â he scoffs in response, straightening his blazer as he looms above. across the kitchen, a saucier has the audacity to snicker, quickly silenced by a jab in the ribs from one of her wiser cohorts. â i suggest you get back to work before i take that knife and make an example out of you. â a lackadaisical smirk teases the corner of his lips, though from the way the man bristles, he surely wouldnât be surprised if adrian filleted him on the spot. â as for you, miss ryan â i presume youâre on your way out? â deductive reasoning from jacket draped across her shoulders and the bag at her hip. not to mention the fact that hed consulted the schedule in advance.
His words are met with a playful roll of her eyes ( a gesture Sage hopes he missed while shooting daggers at the poor kitchen staffers ). At this point, sheâs become quite used to her boss ( the big one ) and his tirades. When she was first hired, sure, he had her shaking in her boots, but sheâs grown a thick skin -- heck, part of her almost finds it amusing now when he blows his top. âWonder how you figured that one out,â she retorts, tone light & breezy, âYou must be some sort of detective, Mr. Cabot.â Out of the corner of her eye, she spots a sous chef holding back a snicker. âActually, now that weâre talking, Iâve got a question about my schedule for next week. Mind walking me out so we can chat ?â She figures drawing him away from the kitchen is the least she could do to save her poor coworkers.Â

lex looked down at the girlâs hands and then up at her face before looking down at her hands again. then her own hands immediately went to her pockets, apparently the girl wasnât lying. her wallet had fallen out of her pocket. anyone else probably would have taken it for themselves, so lex would be lying if she said she wasnât impressed. âthank you,â she took her wallet back and shoved it into her back pocket before looking the girl up and down, âi owe you one, really.â
âYouâre welcome,â she answers, just glad to have reunited the woman with the obviously important object. âNo, no, itâs okay. You donât owe me a thing. Just doing my duty as a good samaritan & all that.âÂ

âtheyâre celebrating that she couldnât work her shit out in her first marriage by making sure she goes into her next one drunk as a skunk?â she asks, lifting an eyebrow at the other. âdoesnât seem very logical to me.â
âI never said it was logical,â Sage answers with a shrug, âIt was just my best guess. But who knows the real reason behind it all. At least itâs not something that happens often.âÂ

â Today was a total win for you. â
legacies sentence prompts
âIf you can call getting yelled at by only half a dozen customers a win, then sure â today was definitely a win.â It had been a long day, but Julian was right â with the way things usually were at Hades, today might have been a win for her after all. âAt least I faired better than some of the waiters. Kathy had to change her uniform twice tonight â the culprit ? The risotto, flung at her by two separate customers.âÂ

â Iâd forgotten the world is full of nasty surprises. â
legacies sentence prompts
âThat it is,â she replies, nodding her head in agreement, ââ but do me a favor, wonât you Lucky ?â Sage reaches out, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. âDonât forget that there are silver linings too. For every bad thing out there, thereâs something good just waiting for you to stumble upon it.âÂ

â you donât have to tell me. â
donât starters
âOh please, you say that as if I donât want to tell you !! â Sage is more than happy to ramble on about her world travels, to have an audience to what she considers to be some of her most captivating tales. âNow where should I begin â would you rather hear about the delightful fisherman & his family that I stayed with on the Almafi Coast ? Or would you rather listen to the funniest little story about what happened when I got lost in Lima ?âÂ

âTrust me, Iâm trying,â Sage reasons, words followed by a long, heavy sigh, âbut when youâve been hurt like that ? Itâs hard to not put all your walls up. I try my hardest not to be cynical â to still see the good in things, but itâs a challenge.â Â

â you donât need to worry about that. â
donât starters
âOf course Iâm going to worry,â Sage replies, concern evident in her gaze, âYouâre my friend, J. Iâm always going to worry.â Try as she might to not get attached to the people here in Vegas, ( she keeps telling herself its only a matter of time until she takes off again -- of course, sheâs been saying that for the last two years ), itâs been unavoidable.âÂ

you don't have to tell me.
donât starters
âI know â but I donât mind. Thereâs not much to tell,â she sighs, before taking another sip of her drink ( she needs it if sheâs going to tell this particular story ). âGirl fell in love with boy, girl followed boy to Vegas, boy took everything girl had. And thatâs it. Thatâs the end of it â and thatâs why Iâm here.âÂ

â why donât you stay right here? â
donât starters
When he says it like that, who is Sage to argue ? His gaze could burn a hole right through her & she swears her heart is pounding loud enough for the entire strip to hear. She knows why she should go â their toeing a dangerous line here â & once itâs crossed, thereâs no going back. Thereâs a million reasons not to take this step, but all of a sudden, none of them matter. âGive me one good reason why I should,â she whispers back, already a woman gone. No matter what words he weaves, she knows sheâll stay put. Her mind was made up quite some time ago.Â

â Get to the car and get out of here. â
legacies sentence prompts
âNo way â Iâm not running.â This is big for her, the girl who left home at eighteen & hadnât stopped running since. Her two years in Vegas had changed her, whether she wanted to admit it or not. She had lost everything & this city helped her to rebuild. âI appreciate the advice, but I wonât be taking it.âÂ

â My personal favorite: âThink, therefore, on revenge and cease to weep.â â
legacies sentence prompts
âYou see â Iâm not really a revenge type of gal,â Sage counters, voice soft, despite the fact that theyâre the only two left in the restaurant. âI donât get how that sort of thing could bring you so much joy. Iâve only wanted revenge once & I couldnât follow through with it. I felt like Iâd be sacrificing a part of myself in order to go after it, & I donât quite like the idea of that.â
