sfw, no spoilers, au (no curses), fluff only, short but sweet

both you and choso had been together for a while now. however, as work had caught up to both of you which led to early mornings for you, and late nights for choso. it meant that you and choso hadn’t been able to see each other at all.

although you both didn’t say anything about it, choso couldn’t take it. he missed the feeling of his hand stroking through your hair while laying in bed with you. — he missed the warm feeling trapped between the both of you as your bodies touched under the sheets. he missed the way your eyes looked at him with affection, the way he got lost in the beautiful color of your eyes as the sunlight shone upon it in the morning. he missed you.

he knew you loved him and he was sure you knew he loved you too. he knew that you guys didn’t have to say it to each others face to know the truth, but he truly couldn’t take it anymore. although he wasn’t the most vocal person about his thoughts, you made him want to confess his love over and over again. with that, he got up from his chair and walked out of the building with his phone in his hands.

— “where are you”

soon after, he received a text back from you.

— “On my way! home. why? did something happen?”

his heart warmed up whenever you showed affection and worry for him.

— “nothing happened, just wanted to know”

he texted back as he was now on his way to your apartment. thinking about finally being able to see you again made his heart feel lighter as he found himself starting to walk faster than usual.

he quickly arrived at you apartment, only to realize you weren’t there yet. — he took a seat next to your door as he waited for you.

— “choso?”

he tilted his head up. standing up he walked towards you giving you a hug and sinking his head into your neck. he stayed like this for a moment until he heard you laugh as you started stroking his head.

— “i thought you were working until late, are you feeling sick? let’s go in so you won’t catch a cold.”

he heard you again, always able to worry for him so he didn’t need to, his heart felt warm.

— “no, i just missed you.”

he simply said as he hugged her tighter.

— “you’re so sweet, choso. i missed you too, though, you probably already knew that.”

he heard you say as you hugged him back. of course he knew you missed him; he missed you too, but you guys already knew that about each other. both of you guys never had to put your emotions into words for the other to understand; that’s what makes your relationship so sweet.

there he was, with closed eyes laying in the cold darkness. this was truly it for him. he knew he couldn’t make it any further, not for himself, nor for you.

all he had around him was nothing but darkness, until he opened his eyes. — the bright lit moon shone down on him.

megumi knew nothing stayed consistent throughout his life, whether that referred to the people around him, or the items he held onto. but, there was one thing that did stick around that visited him every night; the moon. his most loyal companion throughout his entire life. it didn’t matter if he didn’t know his father, mother, or that his sister had passed away because of him. he could always find the light that the moon shone onto him from above. although it wasn’t warm, like the sun, he felt safe and comfortable.

because of this, megumi started to despise the sun, it stole the moon away from him. his only sense of comfort left as soon as the sun rose. he truly despised the sun. — that was, until he met you; the bright sun that happily entered his life. you weren’t cold, like the moon, you were warm, welcoming, and loving. you were the light that came to comfort him after the moon dispersed.

but now, the sun was down, and the moon was shining down onto him as darkness surrounded him. he knew he couldn’t make it, it was obvious. though, he wasn’t afraid to die, he was afraid to die as it meant he would have to leave you. he was afraid that you wouldn’t receive the amount of love you truly deserved.

he looked up to the sky, observing the moon. this was when he asked the moon a favor for the first time. — tears were forming in his eyes as he prayed hard enough for anyone to transfer his message up to the moon. he didn’t want to leave you, but he knew he had to.

he wished for his heart to be sent up to the moon, so that everyday when darkness surrounded you, the moon would shine down the love he held for you. even if he couldn’t be there to hold you close, say small things to make you happy, or just sit in the same room as you, he’d make sure you could feel his love. all the love you deserved.

megumi truly had nothing in the world, ever, but his love for you. his love for you was the only thing he could have when he had nothing, and now, he’s ready to shine it down onto you through his most loyal companion, the moon.

as he finished his final prayer to the moon, he closed his eyes again — with his body feeling out of control.

the tinkle of the door chimes could be heard as megumi walked through the doors of the small, but welcoming convenience store. soft music could be heard throughout the store, giving him the sense of comfort he needed after a long morning.

as megumi walked inside the store, he noticed you behind the counter, warmly and politely welcoming him to the store. megumi responded by politely nodding as he made his way through the racks filled with snacks presented in uniform; they were carefully placed next to each other and presented in a neat and tidy way.

megumi wasn’t one to pay much mind to small things, but he was able to observe that it was you who would place all the items perfectly displayed next to each other. megumi observed you from afar through the convenience store window whenever he passed by; he learned that you were a diligent worker of the convenience store working everyday of the week starting from 12 until 4.

he liked everything he had observed about you; the way you carried yourself as you helped customers in the store; the way you warmly welcomed every customer politely; the way you would strike up conversations with the elderly and recommended them small things that you had learned through your conversations. — he truly liked everything about you.

although megumi wasn’t one to strike up a conversation, he mustered up the courage today to make himself memorable to you. he wanted to impress you — speak to you like the elderly do with you.

as he made his way to the counter with his green tea and onigiri, he was greeted with your smile,

— “did you find everything you needed?”

megumi loved your voice, it was like music to his ears

— “yes, i did” he said as you started scanning his items

— “that’ll be 280 yen” you stated as megumi fumbled his pockets to grab his wallet

he soon, however, realized he forgot his wallet inside the classroom before coming to the convenience store. way to make yourself memorable, he thought to himself.

he noticed that you also realized that he forgot his wallet,

—“sorry for wasting your time, i forgot my wallet — i’ll come back later” he said as he lowered his head as apology

—“are you on your lunch break right now?” he heard you ask

he perked his head up to respond, “yeah, it’s about to end though, so i’ll come back after school”

he saw you shake your head, “don’t worry, it’s just 280 yen, this one’s on me! i don’t want you to be without a lunch” he saw you whole heartedly smile as you told him that

he wanted to decline as he felt bad but you interrupted him before he could, “you come here everyday around this time, so i don’t mind paying for a loyal customer!!” you blurted out

megumi was taken aback when you stated that you already remembered him either way, but his heart felt warm when you mentioned it. — this was his chance to learn your name, he thought

— “thank you, i appreciate it.” he said with a small smile, “what’s your name?” he asked you

as you told him your name he was in awe, your name was beautiful, “you have a wonderful name” he said without thinking, making him turn red immediately while looking down

he heard you laugh as you muttered a small thank you, “what’s yours?” you asked, which made him look up again,

— “megumi, megumi fushiguro” he said as he avoided making eye contact with you.

—“well then, nice to meet you megumi.” you said as you held your hand out to him with a smile.

he took your hand in his, “nice to meet you too,” he said as he addressed you by your last name as well.

as he said his goodbye, megumi grabbed his lunch as he walked out of the store; his heart was pounding too fast — he finally had a small conversation with you. he no longer had to be jealous of the elderly of talking with you, he finally had a chance.
